Samsung Health Monitor is available in many countries, but it is not one uniform worldwide service. ECG, blood-pressure monitoring, irregular-heart-rhythm notifications, and sleep-apnea screening each have separate country lists, device requirements, and regulatory restrictions.

According to Samsung’s country document updated July 13, 2026, the feature available on your Galaxy Watch depends on your country, the market where your phone and watch were purchased, the exact watch generation, software version, and local medical-device approval. Check each feature separately rather than assuming that one available function means the entire app is supported.

What is Samsung Health Monitor?

Samsung Health Monitor is Samsung’s companion health-monitoring app for compatible Galaxy Watches and Samsung Galaxy phones. It contains more medically oriented functions than the broader Samsung Health platform, including:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings and heart-rhythm classification
  • Blood-pressure estimation after cuff calibration
  • Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN)
  • Sleep-apnea screening
  • Storage, review, and export of selected health reports

Samsung Health is the wider fitness and wellness ecosystem for exercise, sleep, activity, and health data. Samsung Health Monitor is the more restricted app that houses regulated or medically oriented features. Samsung says ECG reports can be reviewed in the phone app and exported as PDFs.

Where is Samsung Health Monitor available in 2026?

There is no reliable single “global availability” number because Samsung publishes separate availability lists for individual functions. The current reference is Samsung’s Software as a Medical Device country document, updated July 13, 2026.

Feature Availability pattern Typical hardware threshold Important condition
ECG Available across many markets in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Oceania, but not every country Active2/Watch3 or Watch4 and later, depending on the market The country and model lists vary
Blood pressure A separate, broad but different country list Active2/Watch3 or Watch4 and later, depending on the market Requires an upper-arm cuff and calibration every 28 days
IHRN A separate list that does not exactly match ECG or blood pressure Generally Galaxy Watch4 and later supported models A notification is not the same as an ECG recording
Sleep apnea Expanded availability across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, and other markets Galaxy Watch4 or later; U.S. instructions specify Wear OS 5.0 Two-night screening for eligible adults, not a diagnosis

Samsung previously announced sleep-apnea availability in 70 markets in June 2025. That was an expansion milestone, not a permanent universal count. For current eligibility, use the newer feature-by-feature country document.

Why availability is region-locked

Samsung attributes regional restrictions to the requirements for approving and registering software as a medical device. Medical-device rules, review timelines, and implementation requirements differ by country. A feature may therefore be cleared in one market while Samsung is still seeking approval or completing registration in another.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Regional software and product-market controls also matter. Samsung officially restricts the service based on supported countries and compatible devices. The sales region of the watch and phone can affect whether the app or a particular function appears, even when the hardware has the required sensors.

Travel can create another complication. Samsung warns that service may be restricted in an unsupported country. Factory-resetting the phone or deleting and reinstalling Samsung Health Monitor while abroad may also affect availability. This does not mean travel permanently disables the app in every case, but you should not assume that an activated feature will work identically everywhere.

What each feature actually does

ECG

The ECG function records electrical activity in a format similar to a Lead I ECG and can classify results such as normal sinus rhythm or possible atrial fibrillation. A recording takes approximately 30 seconds: wear the watch snugly, rest your forearms on a table, place a fingertip on the top button, and remain still and quiet.

An ECG result is a useful record to discuss with a clinician, but it does not rule out every heart condition. It is not a replacement for professional evaluation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Blood pressure

Samsung’s blood-pressure feature estimates blood pressure using watch data calibrated against an upper-arm cuff. The watch does not independently replace a conventional cuff. You need a compatible cuff for the initial calibration and must repeat calibration every 28 days. The cuff is sold separately.

Samsung began a phased U.S. rollout on March 31, 2026. That date should not be interpreted as proof that the feature is available on every U.S. device immediately; rollout, model, software, and account conditions can still matter.

Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification

IHRN monitors for patterns that may indicate an irregular heart rhythm and sends a notification when its criteria are met. It is not the same as opening the ECG function and recording a rhythm strip. A watch can support one heart-related feature without supporting all the others in the same country or on the same model.

Sleep apnea

Samsung’s sleep-apnea tool is intended to identify signs of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea. It is not designed to detect every type of sleep apnea, including central sleep apnea, and it is not a clinical diagnosis.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Samsung’s U.S. instructions require two qualifying nights within a 10-day period, with approximately four hours of sleep data per night. After a qualifying night, analysis can take up to 90 minutes. The watch should be worn snugly about 1–2 inches above the wrist bone.

Compatible phones and watches

Samsung’s general requirements include:

  • A compatible Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later
  • A compatible Galaxy Watch, generally Active2 or newer for some functions
  • Galaxy Watch4 or newer for sleep-apnea screening
  • At least 10 MB of free watch storage
  • Current phone, watch, and Samsung Health Monitor software
  • Bluetooth pairing through Galaxy Wearable
  • A supported country and region combination

The U.S. sleep-apnea instructions specify a minimum of Galaxy Watch4, Wear OS 5.0, and Android 12. Requirements can vary by market and feature, so treat those as the documented U.S. threshold rather than a worldwide guarantee.

Samsung Health Monitor is not officially available on iPhone, non-Samsung Android phones, Samsung fitness watches, or Galaxy Fit devices. A compatible watch by itself is not enough: Samsung’s requirements also cover the paired Galaxy phone and the devices’ purchase markets.

How to check your own eligibility

  1. Identify the country where the phone and watch were purchased.
  2. Note the exact Galaxy Watch model and regional version.
  3. Check that the phone runs Android 12 or later.
  4. Update the phone, watch, Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health, and Samsung Health Monitor.
  5. Open Samsung’s current country-availability document.
  6. Check ECG, blood pressure, IHRN, and sleep apnea as separate entries.
  7. Confirm the feature’s specific watch-generation and operating-system requirement.
  8. Pair the watch with the Galaxy phone through Galaxy Wearable.
  9. Install Samsung Health Monitor from the Galaxy Store after pairing.
  10. If the feature is still missing, contact Samsung support rather than installing modified apps.

Samsung says the app becomes available for download after a compatible watch is connected to an eligible Galaxy phone and the software is current.

Why a feature may not appear

If your watch advertises health monitoring but a function is missing, check these causes in order:

  • International Model No Warranty in the US. ONLY compatible with Android devices. Samsung Pay - Not Supported. NOT compatible with iPhone or iOS devices.
  • Country mismatch: Your country may support ECG but not blood pressure, IHRN, or sleep apnea.
  • Imported hardware: The watch or phone may have been purchased in a market with different restrictions.
  • Model age: Sleep apnea requires Galaxy Watch4 or newer, while other functions have different thresholds.
  • Unsupported phone: Samsung officially requires a compatible Galaxy phone, not just any Android device.
  • Outdated software: Install current maintenance releases and app updates.
  • Phased rollout: A feature may be arriving gradually in an otherwise supported market.
  • Travel or reinstallation: Samsung says unsupported travel, a factory reset, or reinstalling abroad may affect availability.

Do not treat unofficial APKs, CSC changes, or modified apps as dependable solutions for a regulated health feature. They may violate regional restrictions, create safety risks, or stop working after an update.

Important safety and medical limits

Samsung Health Monitor is best understood as a wellness and screening aid, not a complete diagnostic system. Samsung’s instructions and support materials place additional limits on relevant functions. Users should not use them to change medication or treatment without a healthcare professional.

  • Users under 22 may be restricted from the relevant features.
  • Samsung says users with implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators should not use the relevant app functions.
  • Blood-pressure results are estimates based on calibrated watch data, not equivalent to a standalone cuff measurement.
  • A normal ECG does not rule out all cardiac conditions.
  • A negative sleep-apnea result does not rule out sleep apnea.
  • The sleep-apnea feature is not intended for people already diagnosed with sleep apnea.
  • People with symptoms should consult a doctor even if the watch reports no indication.

Is Samsung Health Monitor worth choosing?

It is a sensible fit for an existing Samsung Galaxy user in a supported market who wants ECG records, heart-rhythm notifications, sleep tracking, and an integrated phone-and-watch experience. ECG reports can be saved and exported, and sleep-apnea screening may provide a useful reason to discuss symptoms with a clinician.

Blood-pressure users need to accept the additional cost and effort of an upper-arm cuff plus recurring 28-day calibration. If reliable blood-pressure measurement is your main priority, a clinically validated standalone cuff may be a better starting point than buying a watch for that feature alone.

Samsung Health Monitor is a poor fit for iPhone owners, users with non-Samsung Android phones, buyers in unsupported countries, or anyone seeking a clinically complete diagnostic system.

Final verdict

Samsung Health Monitor has a broad international footprint, but its real presence is a patchwork of feature-specific regulatory approvals. Check country, feature, watch generation, operating system, Galaxy-phone compatibility, purchase market, and current rollout status before buying or troubleshooting. The watch’s advertised health features are only useful when that entire combination qualifies—and even then, the results support screening and conversations with clinicians rather than replacing medical care.
