The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is a released phone, not a rumor: it was announced on July 9, 2025, and went on sale in the US as part of Samsung’s foldable launch. Its official unlocked MSRP is $899.99 for 128GB or $959.99 for 256GB. You get a 6.7-inch foldable main screen, a 3.4-inch cover screen, Exynos 2400, 8GB of RAM and a 4,000mAh battery. It is the least expensive current Z Flip, but at full price its smaller cover screen, modest charging speed and older-feeling hardware make the standard Flip7 or a discounted alternative worth checking first.

US price and availability
Samsung’s US March 2026 MSRP file lists the unlocked Galaxy Z Flip7 FE at $899.99 for 128GB and $959.99 for 256GB. Those are manufacturer suggested prices, not a promise of the price at checkout; Samsung, carriers and retailers may offer temporary discounts, trade-in credits or installment deals. Check the final checkout price and the conditions attached to any offer. Samsung’s US MSRP file notes that prices may change without notice.
The $60 difference makes 256GB the safer choice for people who shoot lots of video, install large games or intend to keep the phone for several years. Samsung’s listed configurations do not include a microSD option, so choose storage with your expected use in mind. A trade-in credit is conditional, not guaranteed savings: eligibility, deadlines and device condition matter, and rejected or late trade-ins can result in a chargeback. Carrier deals can make the phone appear free or unusually cheap while requiring a multi-year installment plan or qualifying service. Compare the total cost and the obligations, not just the advertised monthly payment. The phone is an existing US product; actual availability depends on configuration and inventory.
Release date: a 2025 launch, not a 2026 update
Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE alongside the Galaxy Z Flip7 on July 9, 2025. Samsung’s US newsroom said the new foldable lineup began general availability on July 25, 2025. The phone is now a released product, not an upcoming model. Firmware dates on Samsung’s support page refer to software updates for the US model SM-F761U, not the retail launch. These specifications are from Samsung’s US launch material, with independent testing used below for practical context. Check carrier compatibility before buying an unlocked unit: supported bands and eSIM availability can vary by carrier.
The cover screen is the defining compromise
The FE’s 3.4-inch cover display is the most visible difference from the standard Flip7. It can show notifications, widgets, camera previews and other quick information, but its smaller area makes typing and longer interactions less comfortable. Expect to unfold the phone more often if you want to read, reply or use apps on the outer screen. Samsung’s standard Flip7 has a 4.1-inch, 120Hz FlexWindow; the FE’s cover display is smaller and independent coverage lists it at 60Hz.

The compact folded shape is the central attraction: it takes up less pocket space than a conventional slab phone. The trade-off is a thicker folded body—14.9mm—and the additional care and repair considerations that come with a folding screen and hinge.
Performance, cameras and battery in daily use
The Exynos 2400 and 8GB of RAM are adequate for messaging, web browsing, streaming, everyday multitasking and casual games. Independent testing found good routine performance, but this is not the right pick for someone who prioritizes sustained high-end gaming or demanding video work. The standard Flip7’s newer Exynos 2500 and 12GB of RAM give it more headroom.
The rear camera arrangement pairs a 50MP main camera with a 12MP ultrawide. There is no dedicated telephoto lens, so distant subjects rely on digital zoom rather than optical magnification. The main camera can also be used for hands-free selfies and video when the phone is partly folded (Samsung’s FlexCam approach). Samsung promotes software-assisted features such as Auto Zoom, AI Zoom and ProVisual Engine processing; these do not add a telephoto camera. TechRadar found the cameras generally useful for everyday and social-media photos, but not class-leading. Its review also notes that images can look more impressive on the phone’s own display than on a larger screen.
The 4,000mAh battery is in the same general class as the Flip6’s, and charging tops out at 25W wired. Samsung’s playback estimates are based on specified testing conditions, not a guarantee of a full day for every owner. Independent testing found endurance acceptable for moderate use, while heavy camera use or outdoor use could call for a top-up. Gaming, navigation, high brightness, 5G and weak signal can all increase drain. The charging adapter is sold separately.

Software, Galaxy AI and support
Samsung’s current specifications list Android 16 and One UI 8. The software experience includes Samsung’s foldable features, FlexWindow widgets and personalization, Samsung Wallet and Smart Switch. Advertised AI capabilities include Gemini Live and Now Brief; the latter can surface items such as weather, schedules and commute information. Availability and behavior can depend on language, region, account, network connection, compatible apps and other conditions. Do not assume every AI feature works everywhere or entirely on-device; check the current product terms.
Samsung’s US support page for SM-F761U lists Android 16 security updates, including an entry with an April 5, 2026 security patch. That confirms continuing updates at that point, but it does not by itself establish a future support duration. For the latest update status, consult Samsung’s model-specific update page.

The $200 entry-price gap buys more than a larger storage tier: the standard Flip7 has a more useful cover screen, faster cover refresh, newer processor, more RAM, a larger battery, Wi-Fi 7 and higher storage options. The camera megapixel lineup is similar on paper, but that does not make the phones equivalent in processing or overall experience.
Choose the FE if the savings are decisive and you mainly want Samsung’s flip design. Choose the Flip7 if you expect to use the cover screen heavily, want more performance headroom, need more storage or RAM, or plan to keep the phone for years. Compare actual promotional checkout prices: if a discounted Flip7 narrows the gap substantially, the FE’s full-price advantage can disappear.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE vs. Galaxy Z Flip6
The FE is closer in design philosophy to the Flip6 than to the standard Flip7: it retains a 3.4-inch cover screen and 4,000mAh battery. It uses Samsung’s Exynos 2400, while recent US flagship Flip models have used Snapdragon platforms; it also has 8GB RAM and 25W wired charging. Its 50MP main camera is strong on paper, but that does not make the rest of the phone a Flip7 equivalent. TechRadar describes the FE as closely related to the Flip6 platform in chassis, cover screen and battery.
A discounted Flip6 may be the better deal if it costs substantially less than the FE, but compare like with like. Check whether it is new, refurbished or used; inspect battery condition, warranty and carrier lock; and verify the remaining software support directly with Samsung. A low sticker price is less attractive if the phone has uncertain condition or coverage.

- Consider the Motorola Razr 2025 if its current US street price is substantially lower and you want a direct flip-foldable alternative. TechRadar’s comparison cited a $699 starting price in its reviewed market context, a 4,300mAh battery and a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X; treat that price as historical comparison context, not a current quote. Samsung may suit buyers who value the Galaxy ecosystem and its camera processing. Check Motorola’s current US pricing and availability before deciding.
- Consider the standard Galaxy Z Flip7 if the larger cover display, faster hardware and extra battery capacity matter enough to justify the price difference.
- Choose a conventional phone if battery life, camera flexibility, durability, long gaming sessions or value per dollar matter more than folding compactly. At around $900, the FE’s premium is primarily paying for the foldable form factor, not top-tier conventional-phone performance.
The FE makes most sense for a buyer who specifically wants Samsung’s compact flip design, prefers Galaxy software and FlexCam, and finds a real discount or favorable trade-in. It is a weaker fit for anyone shopping primarily for the best camera, longest battery life or strongest performance for the money.

Durability, cases and ownership costs
IP48 is water-and-dust resistance, not a rugged-phone rating or a license to use the phone at the beach or pool. Samsung’s stated laboratory qualification covers particles larger than 1mm and submersion in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. Sand and fine debris remain a concern, and water resistance may diminish with wear. Avoid deliberate underwater photography and follow Samsung’s care guidance.
The phone uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an Armor Aluminum frame, but those materials do not remove the vulnerability or repair-cost considerations of a foldable display and hinge. Consider the case and accidental-damage coverage costs before purchase. Samsung says the FE is compatible with Galaxy Z Flip6 cases; still verify the exact accessory listing and fit before ordering. A Flip7 case should not be assumed compatible.
Samsung Care+ is an optional ownership consideration for buyers concerned about accidental damage. Coverage, repair fees and plan availability depend on the current plan terms; do not assume a particular monthly cost or repair fee without checking Samsung’s current Care+ details.
