The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is real and already available. Samsung announced it on July 9, 2025, and U.S. general availability began on July 25, 2025. The unlocked U.S. MSRP starts at $899.99 for 128GB and rises to $959.99 for 256GB.
It is Samsung’s entry-level foldable, not a conventional budget phone. The FE keeps a 3.4-inch cover screen and 4,000mAh battery, uses an Exynos 2400 chip with 8GB of RAM, and costs only $140 less than the standard Flip7 at the same 256GB capacity. Its value therefore depends heavily on discounts, trade-ins, and how much you care about Samsung’s compact clamshell design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE release date
Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE at Galaxy Unpacked in Brooklyn, New York, on July 9, 2025. It launched alongside the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7.
U.S. general availability began on July 25, 2025. As of September 2026, the Flip7 FE is a launched commercial product rather than an upcoming phone. Stock, carrier availability, colors, and promotions can still vary by country and retailer.
Samsung’s official announcement confirms that the FE is a standalone model, not a regional nickname for the standard Galaxy Z Flip7.

These are U.S. unlocked list prices from Samsung’s MSRP documentation, not guaranteed current sale prices. Samsung and carriers may apply instant discounts, installment promotions, bundles, or trade-in credits.
The storage comparison matters. The 256GB Flip7 FE costs $959.99, while the 256GB standard Galaxy Z Flip7 was listed at $1,099.99. That creates a nominal $140 difference at equal storage. The FE’s advertised $200 entry-price advantage comes from comparing its 128GB model with the Flip7’s 256GB starting configuration.
Trade-in offers can change the decision substantially, but an “up to” credit is not a guaranteed discount. The final amount depends on the traded phone’s model, condition, ownership status, locks, display, battery behavior, and eligibility. Before buying, calculate:
Effective price = phone price − confirmed trade-in credit + required plan or financing costs.
Check Samsung’s U.S. product page immediately before purchase because promotions and eligibility terms are date-sensitive.

Samsung’s support specification page is the best reference for model-specific details. Storage, SIM and eSIM configurations, 5G bands, colors, and connectivity can differ outside the U.S.
Displays: the cover screen is the major compromise
The inner display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Samsung rates its peak brightness at up to 2,600 nits, although real-world brightness depends on content, mode, and conditions.
The outer display is a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 748 × 720 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. It is useful for notifications, widgets, quick controls, selfies, and selected tasks, but it is not the large edge-to-edge FlexWindow found on the standard Flip7.
This difference is more important than the size numbers suggest. The standard Flip7’s 4.1-inch cover display provides more room for apps and interaction, while the FE retains the older, more restricted cover-screen layout. If you want to reply, browse, or run full apps without opening the phone, the FE is a weaker choice than the regular Flip7 or some Motorola Razr models.
Processor, RAM, and software
The Flip7 FE uses Samsung’s Exynos 2400 and 8GB of RAM. The Exynos 2400 is a previous-generation flagship-class processor, not an entry-level chip. It should not be dismissed as automatically slow. The meaningful trade-off is that it provides less performance and efficiency headroom than the newer Exynos 2500 in the standard Flip7.

There is no reason to expect microSD expansion, so buyers who record a lot of video or keep large offline libraries should choose 256GB.
Samsung’s 2026 corporate reporting lists the model with Android 16 and One UI 8.0, but the software installed on a retail unit can vary by region, carrier, and update status. Galaxy AI features may require a Samsung account, internet access, supported languages or regions, and additional terms. Do not assume every AI feature works offline or remains free indefinitely.

Cameras
The rear camera system combines a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 12MP ultrawide camera. A 10MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Samsung also highlights FlexCam shooting modes, its ProVisual Engine, portrait features, and AI-assisted image processing. These computational features can improve convenience and image processing, but they do not make the FE a substitute for a Galaxy S Ultra camera system. The camera hardware remains a dual-camera foldable setup without a dedicated telephoto lens.

Battery and charging
The phone has a 4,000mAh typical dual-cell battery, the same nominal capacity as the Galaxy Z Flip6. It supports Samsung fast wired charging, wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.
Independent reviews generally describe endurance as adequate rather than class-leading. Heavy camera use, gaming, 5G, high brightness, and frequent use of the inner display can reduce runtime. Buyers who prioritize long battery life will generally get better results from a conventional phone with a larger battery.
Durability and IP48
The Flip7 FE has an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the cover display, and an IP48 rating.
IP48 should not be read as “waterproof” or “dustproof.” It indicates protection against water exposure and objects larger than 1mm under test conditions. Fine dust, sand, debris in the hinge, drops onto the hinge, and damage to the flexible inner display remain meaningful risks. Foldable screen-protector wear or bubbling can also require attention.

What does “FE” mean on the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE?
FE stands for Fan Edition. In this case, it identifies a lower-cost version of Samsung’s current Flip generation. However, “lower-cost” does not mean cheap: $899.99 remains premium-phone pricing.
The Flip7 FE is best understood as a cost-reduced, Flip6-like design updated with the Exynos 2400, current Samsung software, Galaxy AI features, and newer image processing. It is not simply a standard Flip7 with a smaller screen.

Its $140 premium over the FE’s 256GB version buys a larger cover display, 4GB more RAM, a newer processor, a larger battery, and more generous base storage. If promotions reduce that gap further, the FE becomes difficult to justify unless the buyer specifically wants the lowest upfront price.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 is the most important older alternative because the FE retains several of its physical fundamentals: a 3.4-inch-style cover display, a 4,000mAh battery, and a similar compact clamshell approach.
A discounted, refurbished, or used Flip6 can therefore offer similar hardware for materially less. The FE’s advantages are its newer generation, current software and AI positioning, newer image-processing features, and the possibility of buying a new device with a full manufacturer warranty.

Choose the Flip6 only after checking the actual price and condition. Inspect battery health, hinge behavior, inner-screen damage, screen-protector bubbling, warranty status, and the remaining software-support runway. A small discount is not enough to justify buying a used foldable with uncertain history; a substantial saving with reliable warranty coverage is a different calculation.

Is the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE worth buying?
Buy it when
- You specifically want a compact clamshell foldable.
- You value Samsung’s software, Galaxy ecosystem, AI tools, and service network.
- You can obtain a substantial discount or confirmed trade-in credit.
- You are comfortable opening the phone for most apps and do not need a large outer display.
- You do not need maximum gaming performance or the longest battery life.
Skip it when
- You want a genuinely inexpensive smartphone.
- You expect to run full apps comfortably from the cover screen.
- Battery endurance is your top priority.
- You want the strongest camera hardware or a dedicated telephoto camera.
- You are paying close to $899.99 without a meaningful promotion.
- The standard Flip7 is only slightly more expensive after trade-in or retailer discounts.
- A Flip6 is available for substantially less with dependable warranty coverage.
What price makes sense?
The FE makes the most sense when the net price—not the headline MSRP—creates a clear gap below the standard Flip7.
- Write down the exact storage model you are comparing.
- Use the confirmed trade-in value for your device, not Samsung’s maximum advertised credit.
- Add any required carrier-plan, activation, or financing costs.
- Compare the result with the same-storage Flip7.
- Check whether a new, refurbished, or used Flip6 includes meaningful warranty protection.
If the 256GB FE and 256GB Flip7 end up close in price, the standard model is usually the better hardware purchase. If the FE receives a large discount and the cover-screen limitation does not bother you, it becomes a more defensible way to buy a Samsung foldable.
Regional and ownership considerations
The U.S. prices and configurations in this article should not be generalized globally. Before ordering, confirm the model number, storage, 5G bands, SIM and eSIM support, colors, taxes, warranty coverage, repair options, and Samsung Care+ availability for your country.
The phone does not necessarily include a charger in the box; in-box contents can vary by market and sales channel, so check the exact regional listing if that matters to your purchase.
Samsung’s launch materials also promoted a time-limited Google AI Pro and 2TB cloud-storage offer for qualifying devices. Treat that as a promotion, not a permanent ownership benefit, and verify the terms before relying on it.
