The Galaxy S25 Ultra renders reported on January 10, 2025, gave a largely accurate preview of Samsung’s next flagship: a flatter-fronted phone with softer corners, a titanium frame, a familiar rear-camera layout and an integrated S Pen. They were published before Samsung’s announcement, however, so they were a leak—not a formal Samsung reveal—and the images could not verify the specifications circulating alongside them.
What the Galaxy S25 Ultra leak showed
Android Headlines published a set of official-looking Galaxy S25-series renders, which Android Authority reported on January 10, 2025. Additional images were later shared by leaker Evan Blass. The images depicted the Ultra from multiple angles, including its front, back and sides. Their reported source and consistency made them more persuasive than a single low-quality photograph, but Samsung had not yet announced the phone or released these images itself. Android Authority’s report on the renders provides the original attribution.
- Rounder corners: The S25 Ultra looked less sharply squared off than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, particularly at the corners.
- Flat screen: The display appeared flat rather than curved over the sides. The softer corner shape did not mean Samsung had switched to a curved-edge screen.
- Thin-looking bezels: The renders suggested a narrow frame around the display, though perspective and image scaling make renders a poor basis for precise bezel measurements.
- Titanium construction: The images indicated a titanium frame, consistent with the S24 Ultra’s material direction.
- Familiar camera arrangement: The rear cameras remained in a broadly similar vertical layout, with revised-looking rings that made the lenses more visually prominent.
- Built-in S Pen: The stylus and its storage slot remained part of the Ultra design.
- Four named finishes: The reported render set showed Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Silverblue and Titanium Whitesilver.
Those color names described the main launch range, not a promise that every finish would be sold in every country or through every retailer. Samsung’s U.S. listings also included online-exclusive finishes such as Titanium Jadegreen, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Pinkgold; local selection can differ by market and sales channel. Check the regional product listing for actual availability.
How much of the leak was right?
Samsung announced the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025. The Ultra’s production design retained the most noticeable elements in the leaked images: rounded corners, a flat display, titanium construction, an integrated S Pen and a camera layout that still looked recognizably like an Ultra. Samsung’s design explanation describes the rounder form and updated camera identity.

The screen’s official measurement helps clarify what “flat” and “rounded” mean here. Samsung lists it as 6.9 inches when measured as a full rectangle, and 6.8 inches accounting for the rounded corners and camera cutout. Its resolution is 3,120 × 1,440. The difference is a measurement convention, not two different display sizes. Samsung’s specification sheet gives the display figures.

The camera rings were not the whole camera story
The leak could show the shape and placement of the camera hardware, but not how the cameras performed. The final phone kept a familiar rear-camera arrangement while Samsung upgraded the ultrawide camera to 50 megapixels, up from 12 megapixels on the S24 Ultra, according to Samsung’s corporate reporting. That hardware change mattered more than the appearance of the rings alone. Samsung’s 2025 first-quarter interim report records the ultrawide upgrade.

Likewise, the renders showed that an S Pen still had a home inside the phone; they did not prove that every earlier S Pen feature would continue. Contemporary reporting said the S25 Ultra’s S Pen lacked Bluetooth functionality, meaning remote controls such as camera triggering and gesture controls were removed. That point comes from Ars Technica’s coverage, rather than something visible in the images.

Once the rumor became a shipping product, Samsung’s specifications filled in the details a render cannot convey. The Galaxy S25 Ultra launched with Android 15 and One UI 7, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a 6.9-inch full-rectangle display measurement, Gorilla Armor 2 front glass and a 218-gram body measuring 162.8 × 77.6 × 8.2 mm. Samsung announced the phone on January 22, 2025, began taking preorders that day, and listed February 7 as the start of general availability in the United States. Those are distinct milestones: the announcement date was not the U.S. retail-availability date. Samsung’s launch announcement confirms the schedule.
Launch price versus what it costs now
U.S. launch MSRPs were $1,299.99 for 256GB, $1,419.99 for 512GB and $1,659.99 for 1TB. These are historical launch prices, not a guarantee of today’s price. Samsung’s product pages have displayed lower promotional prices on selected models, but promotions, trade-in credits, financing terms, stock and color selection can change. Check the price for the exact storage tier, carrier status and color before buying; a product page’s headline offer may depend on eligibility or a selected configuration.

The design leak is useful context if you are choosing between the S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra, but the appearance alone is not a reason to upgrade. The S25 Ultra makes more sense if the rounder shape, newer processor or 50MP ultrawide are meaningful to you. The S24 Ultra may remain the better value if it is substantially cheaper where you live, you prefer its sharper silhouette, or the newer camera and processor do not justify the difference. Current prices, trade-in values and software support should be checked locally rather than assumed from launch coverage.
What the renders could not tell you
Even accurate product renders are evidence of exterior design, not a complete specification. They could not establish the S25 Ultra’s processor, RAM or storage configurations, battery capacity, charging speed, camera sensor sizes or image quality, software and AI features, durability ratings, regional connectivity bands, retail price or package contents. They also could not guarantee that a color would be available in every market, or that an accessory visible in an image would ship with the phone.

That distinction is especially useful with prelaunch coverage: a leak can get the shape right without validating every rumor published at the same time. Case fit is another practical detail—because the S25 Ultra’s dimensions and camera geometry changed, an S24 Ultra case should not be assumed to fit properly.
Verdict
The January 2025 render leak got the S25 Ultra’s most consequential visual change right: Samsung softened the Ultra’s angular outline without abandoning its flat display, titanium frame, S Pen slot or recognizable camera arrangement. Its value was as an early design preview. The finished phone’s specifications, camera upgrade, software, price and feature trade-offs had to be confirmed separately—and were not proven just because the images proved accurate.
