The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a real, standalone Galaxy S-series phone—not a curved-screen edition of the standard S25. Announced on May 13, 2025 and released in the U.S. on May 30, it pairs a remarkably thin 5.8mm titanium-framed body and 163g weight with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ display, and a 200MP main camera.
The trade-off is equally clear: its 3,900mAh battery and two-camera rear system are less ambitious than the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. The S25 Edge is therefore a design-first flagship. It makes sense for buyers who notice phone weight and thickness every day, but it is not the best choice for everyone seeking the longest battery life, maximum zoom flexibility, or the strongest value.

Specifications and availability can differ outside the United States. Network bands, mmWave support, SIM options, colors, storage configurations, AI features, warranty terms, and pricing should be checked for the buyer’s country.
What is the Galaxy S25 Edge?
The S25 Edge is an official fifth model associated with the broader Galaxy S25 generation. Samsung announced the original Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra first, then introduced the Edge several months later as a separate phone focused on thinness and low weight.

“Edge” does not primarily refer to the curved display design used by some older Samsung phones. Here, it describes the phone’s positioning as an unusually slim member of the S25 family. Samsung calls it the thinnest Galaxy S-series phone, and its U.S. specifications list a 5.8mm body thickness and 163g weight. Samsung’s launch announcement provides the official product context.
It also is not a cheaper S25 with a slower processor. The phone uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy platform family found in Samsung’s major S25 flagships. The compromises are concentrated elsewhere: battery capacity, camera versatility, and the practical cost of making a large-screen phone this thin.
Design: the reason to buy the S25 Edge
The defining hardware is the 5.8mm body. At 163g, the S25 Edge is unusually light for a phone with a 6.7-inch display. Its titanium frame is available in Titanium Silver, Titanium Icyblue, and Titanium Jetblack, and the handset carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Samsung’s product page lists the current design and color information.

However, thin does not mean small. The handset is 75.6mm wide and 158.2mm tall, so it still has the broad footprint of a large phone. One-handed use may be difficult for people with smaller hands even though the phone itself feels light.
The camera housing also matters. The 5.8mm figure describes the stated handset body thickness; it should not be read as meaning every part of the camera area is equally thin. A raised camera section can make the phone look and feel thicker at the top, and it creates a separate surface that needs protection.
A case can reduce the visual and tactile advantage of a slim phone. Buyers who want to preserve the Edge’s main selling point will likely look for a thin case, but thinner protection generally provides less bulk and impact coverage than a rugged case. Titanium and IP68 are useful design features, not guarantees against scratches, bending, or drop damage.
Display: a large Quad HD+ panel in a light phone
The S25 Edge has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 3120 × 1440 Quad HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. That gives it a large, sharp canvas for video, games, documents, and multitasking.
Samsung’s 6.7-inch figure refers to the full rectangle. Because the corners are rounded, the display area measured as a rectangle with those corners accounted for is 6.5 inches. That distinction does not make the screen small, but it avoids treating the diagonal as though the panel had four square corners.
Compared with the base Galaxy S25, the Edge’s screen is a major reason to choose it. The phone delivers a large-screen experience without the weight normally associated with a large conventional flagship. The cost is that the same large, high-resolution, high-refresh-rate panel places more demands on a relatively small battery.

Performance: flagship power in a 5.8mm chassis
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy is the S25 Edge’s performance foundation. Samsung lists an octa-core processor with speeds of 4.47GHz and 3.5GHz, while Qualcomm identifies the phone as a Snapdragon 8 Elite device. The platform combines Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU, and Hexagon NPU for conventional performance, graphics, and on-device AI workloads. Qualcomm’s device listing provides the platform and connectivity identification.
That hardware is appropriate for demanding games, video work, camera processing, and Galaxy AI features. But the processor name alone does not prove that the Edge will sustain the same peak performance as a thicker S25+ or S25 Ultra. A thin chassis has less physical room for cooling, and identical silicon does not guarantee identical long-session temperatures, clock speeds, or battery drain.

Samsung says it developed an optimized heat-dissipation structure and enlarged vapor chamber for the ultra-thin model. That is an engineering claim about the cooling design, not independent evidence that peak performance will continue indefinitely during extended gaming or recording. Buyers who regularly play demanding games for long sessions should treat sustained thermal performance as a separate question from headline benchmark performance. Cameras: a high-resolution main camera without a telephoto lens
The rear camera system contains:
- A 200MP wide camera with an f/1.7 aperture, autofocus, and optical image stabilization.
- A 12MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The front camera is 12MP, uses an f/2.2 aperture, and has autofocus. Samsung lists video recording up to 8K at 30 frames per second.
The 200MP main sensor is the Edge’s camera highlight. Samsung’s Adaptive Pixel processing enables what it describes as optical-quality 2x zoom, and digital zoom extends to 10x. A high-resolution sensor can produce useful crop-based zoom, especially in good light, while also offering strong detail for standard photos.
That is not the same as having a dedicated optical telephoto camera. A separate telephoto lens gives the phone another focal length and can frame distant subjects, portraits, and stage performances more naturally. Cropping from the main sensor cannot fully replace that hardware in every lighting condition or at every distance.
The ultra-wide camera remains valuable for landscapes, architecture, and group photos, but the two-lens arrangement is less flexible than the S25 Ultra’s broader system. Samsung’s ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI tools can improve processing workflows, but computational photography should not be presented as a substitute for a missing telephoto lens. Image quality also depends on sensor size, lens design, stabilization, focus, processing, and lighting—not megapixel count alone.
Battery: the compromise that should drive the buying decision
The S25 Edge has a 3,900mAh typical-capacity battery. That is the clearest physical consequence of putting a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ 120Hz display and flagship processor into a 5.8mm body.
Samsung’s U.S. specification listing claims up to 24 hours of video playback under Samsung’s stated test conditions. That controlled figure should not be converted into a promise of 24 hours of normal use. It does not by itself answer how long the phone lasts on 5G, during navigation, while gaming, when recording video, or with the display running at high refresh rates.

Heavy users should be realistic about the trade-off. Long gaming sessions, mobile data, camera use, and high-resolution video recording can all consume power quickly. Depending on the user’s routine, the Edge may require more careful charging, a portable battery, or a top-up during the day than the Galaxy S25+. The smaller battery is not a minor specification difference; it is the price of the phone’s thinness.

Independent testing is the right way to judge screen-on time, Wi-Fi and cellular endurance, gaming drain, standby behavior, charging heat, and sustained workloads. Tom’s Guide’s review offers independent battery and compromise context, but readers should match any test result to their own settings and usage rather than treating it as universal.
Software, AI, and long-term support
The phone launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. It supports Samsung DeX and includes Galaxy AI features such as Now Brief and Audio Eraser, along with Google Gemini-related experiences associated with the S25 generation.
AI availability is not identical everywhere. Individual tools can depend on country, language, Samsung or Google account status, app version, and current service terms. Samsung’s product language and AI policies can also change, so buyers should verify whether a particular feature is available and whether it has any subscription or usage conditions.
Samsung’s U.S. information lists security updates through May 31, 2032 for the cited 256GB model. That is a strong support window, but the exact update schedule and feature availability can vary by market, carrier, and software release.

U.S. configurations include 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. The U.S. specification listing does not indicate microSD expansion, so buyers should choose storage with their photo, video, game, and offline-media habits in mind.
Connectivity features listed for the U.S. model include USB-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB, and 5G support including sub-6GHz and mmWave bands. Qualcomm identifies Wi-Fi 7 support for the device. Dual-SIM use is supported through combinations involving a physical SIM and eSIM or dual eSIM, depending on configuration and market.
These details are specifically relevant to the U.S. version. A model sold elsewhere may use different network bands, SIM arrangements, or storage options.

Those figures should not be treated as a universal current street price. The phone originally became generally available on May 30, 2025, following preorders beginning May 12. Samsung, carriers, and retailers may now show different prices because of trade-in credits, storage discounts, installment plans, clearance offers, or refurbished and open-box stock.
Compare the following separately:
- Launch MSRP: the original official price, useful for understanding positioning but not necessarily what you pay now.
- Samsung’s direct price: check the product page for current stock and promotions.
- Trade-in pricing: conditional on the device, condition, carrier, and promotional terms.
- Carrier installments: a monthly figure may depend on a bill-credit contract and may not equal an unlocked purchase price.
- 512GB value: worthwhile for heavy photo and video users, but extra storage does not solve the Edge’s battery or camera limitations.
Samsung also promotes Samsung Care+ from the product-purchase flow. No single protection price should be assumed: coverage and pricing depend on the model, location, plan, and selection at checkout. Buyers should compare it with existing carrier, credit-card, or homeowners/renters coverage.
Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25+
This is the most important comparison. Both phones target buyers who want a large Samsung flagship display and Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy performance. The Edge is much thinner and lighter and has a higher-resolution 200MP main camera. The S25+ takes the more conventional approach, with more room for battery capacity, cooling, and a broader hardware balance.
Choose the Edge if its 5.8mm profile and 163g weight will improve your everyday experience enough to justify compromises. Choose the S25+ if you use navigation, mobile data, gaming, or the camera heavily, or if you want a less constrained battery and camera design. The base S25 is the better fit for users who prioritize compact dimensions, one-handed operation, and a potentially lower purchase price. Its smaller display also creates a different battery-to-screen balance.
The Edge is aimed at users who want a large, high-resolution screen without accepting the weight of a conventional large flagship. It also offers a 200MP main camera and a more distinctive design. The decision is less about which specification sheet looks better and more about whether the reader values a large screen in the lightest possible package.
Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Ultra
The S25 Ultra remains the more complete hardware choice. It is better suited to buyers who need dedicated zoom cameras, maximum photographic flexibility, a larger battery, or an S Pen. Samsung’s S25-series materials identify S Pen functionality as Ultra-only.
The Edge is substantially more focused: it prioritizes portability and thinness over the Ultra’s camera breadth and productivity hardware. Calling its 200MP main camera “Ultra-level” would be misleading because resolution does not provide the Ultra’s full multi-lens flexibility.
Who should buy the Galaxy S25 Edge?
Buy it if:
- You notice phone thickness and weight every day.
- You want a large, sharp 120Hz display in a very light body.
- You need flagship Android performance and Samsung’s software ecosystem.
- You mostly take standard and ultra-wide photos.
- You accept that heavy use may require more frequent charging or a power bank.
- You value distinctive design more than maximum specification balance.
Choose the S25+, another conventional flagship, or wait for a better deal if:
- Battery life is your highest priority.
- You frequently game, navigate, use 5G, or record video for long periods.
- You need a dedicated telephoto lens.
- You want more thermal headroom or faster, more convenient charging.
- You are price-sensitive and do not mind a slightly thicker phone.
Choose the S25 Ultra if:
- You need Samsung’s broadest camera system.
- You use an S Pen.
- You want the most complete Galaxy flagship experience and accept a heavier handset.
Verdict
The Galaxy S25 Edge is a genuine flagship built around thinness, not a lower-cost S25 and not an Ultra replacement. Its 5.8mm titanium body, 163g weight, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, and large Quad HD+ display make it unusually appealing for thin-phone enthusiasts.
But the 3,900mAh battery and lack of a dedicated telephoto camera are fundamental compromises. At a starting price of $1,099.99 in the U.S. listing cited above, the Edge asks buyers to pay for a design achievement while accepting less battery and camera flexibility than the S25+ or S25 Ultra. Buy it when low weight and slimness are priorities you will appreciate every day; otherwise, the S25+ is likely the more balanced Samsung choice.
