Samsung announced the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra on February 25, 2026; general availability began March 11, 2026, according to its launch announcement. Samsung’s catalog was updated after the July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event and lists products including S26 Ultra, Z Fold7, Z Flip7, A57 5G and S25 FE.

Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra
The S26 family is Samsung’s conventional flagship line. Choose the standard S26 when size and handling matter. Move to the S26+ when you want a larger display and battery without the Ultra’s camera and S Pen focus. Choose the S26 Ultra if zoom flexibility, advanced camera controls, the largest display or S Pen-oriented features justify the cost.
Do not choose by megapixel count alone. Consider sensor size, lens selection, optical versus digital zoom, stabilization, low-light results, video tools, display brightness, refresh rate and ergonomics. Samsung positions the Ultra around advanced cameras, Galaxy AI and a built-in Privacy Display; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test rankings.

Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE
The Fold7 opens into a tablet-like workspace while remaining phone-sized when closed. It is compelling for multitasking, reading, spreadsheets and pen-friendly productivity. The Flip7 folds into a small footprint and uses its external FlexWindow for notifications and selected interactions without opening the phone. The Flip7 FE lowers the entry price.
Foldables cost more and contain specialized hinges and screens. They can involve higher repair costs, model-specific cases and screen-protector restrictions. Dust, impact, drops and hinge damage deserve more attention than with a conventional slab phone, although you should rely on model-specific durability and warranty information rather than blanket claims that foldables are unreliable. Some apps also behave differently across cover, folded and inner-screen layouts.
S25 FE and Galaxy A phones
The S25 FE is the sensible step down from flagship pricing for buyers who still want a premium-style Galaxy experience. Because it is an older generation than S26, compare its current sale price, storage and support promise before choosing it.
A57 5G is aimed at mainstream communication, streaming, social media and light gaming. A17 5G is a lower-cost option for basic tasks. Neither should be treated as an Ultra substitute: processors, camera systems, displays and sustained performance are in different classes.

Rugged Galaxy phones
The XCover7 Pro is designed for field and enterprise use where replaceable or protected hardware, glove-friendly operation and rugged deployment matter more than thinness or camera prestige. Confirm the exact protection rating, enterprise-management features, warranty and accessory availability for your organization.
Unlocked versus carrier Galaxy phones
Unlocked
An unlocked U.S. model bought from Samsung or an authorized retailer normally lets you change carriers without an installment agreement. It still must support your carrier’s bands, 5G configuration, eSIM, Wi-Fi calling and certification. An international import is not automatically equivalent to a U.S. model.
Carrier versions
AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon may advertise a low monthly price or a “free” phone. Usually that means an installment contract and monthly bill credits tied to a qualifying plan, trade-in, new line or upgrade. Canceling, switching carriers or upgrading early can end credits and leave a balance.

Compare the total: phone payments, required plan cost, activation fees, trade-in value, taxes, protection plan and accessories over the entire term. Check compatibility with MVNOs, physical SIM and eSIM support, 5G bands, mmWave where relevant, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.

How Samsung trade-ins work
Samsung’s U.S. catalog has advertised up to $720 instant trade-in credit on selected S26 Ultra purchases, while the S26 launch promotion advertised up to $900 for eligible devices. These are dated offers, not permanent values; check current terms.
- Credit depends on the exact old-device model and condition.
- Cracked screens, activation locks, missing parts or liquid damage can reduce or eliminate credit.
- Samsung instant credit reduces the purchase price immediately; carrier promotions usually arrive as monthly bill credits.
- Trade-in offers generally cannot be combined with every other promotion unless the terms allow it.
Before shipping, back up data, remove accounts, disable activation locks, factory-reset the phone, photograph its condition and retain shipping and tracking records. An online estimate can be revised after inspection.

“Galaxy AI” is not one identical feature bundle. Samsung says availability can vary by country, model, Android/One UI version and carrier. Some functions run on-device; others use cloud processing, require an account or network access, or have separate eligibility conditions. Do not assume every S, Z or A phone receives the same tools, or that every feature will remain free forever.

Storage, battery and durability decisions
- 128GB: suitable for light users who stream and rely on cloud storage.
- 256GB: the safest default for most buyers.
- 512GB/1TB: sensible for extensive photos, 4K video, games or long ownership.
MicroSD expansion is not universal; check the exact U.S. model. Battery capacity alone does not prove endurance, especially on foldables. Likewise, water resistance is a specified rating—not permanent waterproofing or protection from drop and liquid damage.
Where to buy Galaxy phones in the USA
Primary routes include Samsung.com and the Shop Samsung app, carrier stores, Best Buy, the official Amazon Samsung store and Samsung Experience Stores. Samsung’s S26 announcement identified these channels and nationwide carriers.
Samsung direct may provide straightforward unlocked ownership and instant trade-in credit. Carriers can win on bill credits but impose plan and retention conditions. Retailers may offer bundles, open-box stock or different return policies. Confirm that listings are new, U.S. unlocked models—not imported, refurbished or carrier-certified devices unless that is what you intend to buy.

When another phone may fit better
An iPhone is usually the smoother choice for readers invested in Apple Watch, iMessage, FaceTime and Apple services. A Google Pixel may suit Google-first software and computational-photography preferences. OnePlus can appeal to buyers prioritizing charging speed, performance or aggressive pricing. Compare each model’s current support, camera and network details rather than assuming brand-wide superiority.
