Flipkart’s early-February 2025 teaser pointed to a new Samsung Galaxy F-series phone, but it did not name the Galaxy F16 5G or Galaxy F06 5G—and did not confirm that both would launch together. Both phones later arrived in India: Samsung announced the F06 on February 12, 2025, and the F16 followed in March. Here is what the teaser established, how the launch unfolded and how the two models differ now.
This article covers the February 2025 teaser and has been updated with the phones’ subsequent launch details. Marketplace prices are dated examples, not guaranteed current prices.
What did the Flipkart teaser confirm?
A Flipkart microsite for a new Samsung Galaxy F-series phone appeared in early February 2025 with the line, “Samsung’s got something fresh on the way.” Contemporary reports said the page did not identify the model. Flipkart availability was strongly suggested, but the teaser itself did not confirm a launch date, price, specifications or whether one phone—or more than one—was on the way. Reports on the teaser described the model as unresolved.

Leaked F16 renders and Geekbench coverage also pointed to a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. Those were signs that launches were being prepared, not proof of final Indian specifications or a shared launch event. Some early coverage used “F05”; the relevant phone that launched was the Galaxy F06 5G.

What happened after the teaser?
- Early February 2025: The Galaxy F-series teaser appeared on Flipkart, without a model name.
- February 12, 2025: Samsung announced the Galaxy F06 5G for India. Launch coverage reported its India launch date and specifications.
- March 2025: The Galaxy F16 5G followed. Secondary listings disagree on whether its launch date was March 11 or March 13, so March 2025 is the safer date unless citing a specific listing. See the Gadgets 360 comparison listing and Gadgets Now comparison.
In other words, the teaser was genuine, but it was not a definitive announcement of both phones. The F06 was the first of the pair to be announced in India; the F16 arrived later.
Galaxy F06 5G: the key specifications
Launch coverage reported the Galaxy F06 5G with a 6.7-inch-class HD+ LCD, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Its cameras are a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor at the rear, plus an 8MP front camera. A 5,000mAh battery and 25W wired charging complete the main hardware picture.
The F06 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and was reported in Bahama Blue and Lit Violet. Samsung’s reported support commitment for this model was four years of Android OS upgrades and security updates. The launch coverage also said a charger was not included in the box, so buyers should check the exact package and account for a compatible adapter if they do not already own one.

Galaxy F16 5G: the main differences
The F16 also uses the Dimensity 6300 and a 5,000mAh battery, but its clearest hardware distinction is a 6.7-inch-class Super AMOLED display rather than the F06’s HD+ LCD. Comparison and retail listings show a 50MP + 5MP + 2MP rear camera setup, a 13MP front camera, and 25W charging. Listings include 128GB storage with at least 4GB and 6GB RAM configurations; exact combinations can vary by listing.
The F16’s extra rear camera and higher-resolution selfie camera are specification advantages, not proof of better real-world photos. Likewise, because the two phones share the same listed chipset, the F16 should not automatically be treated as a major performance step up. The available evidence here does not establish that the F06’s four-year update promise applies to the F16 as well.

Price and availability: separate estimates from later listings
Before the F06 launch, one report estimated a price of ₹9,000–₹9,999. That was a pre-launch estimate, not a confirmed final price, and it should not be treated as what the phone costs today.
Flipkart listings seen on July 15, 2026 showed approximately ₹13,999 for a listed 6GB/128GB Galaxy F16 5G and ₹15,999 for a listed 6GB/128GB Galaxy F06 5G. These are dated marketplace price signals, not live quotes or launch prices; seller, stock, colour, configuration, bank offers and exchange eligibility can change the checkout total. Check current listings on Flipkart and Samsung’s India 5G phones under ₹20,000 page before buying. Samsung’s category placement is not a guarantee that every configuration or seller will remain below that amount.

Choose the F16 if the prices are close. Its Super AMOLED panel is the most meaningful difference for everyday viewing, and it also has more camera hardware and a higher-resolution front camera. Those are specification advantages; they do not replace independent photo testing.

Consider the F06 if it is substantially cheaper and your priorities are everyday basics—calls, messaging, streaming, social media and light gaming—rather than display quality or camera flexibility. Its large LCD and 5,000mAh battery cover familiar budget-phone needs. Include the cost of a compatible charger if your chosen F06 package does not include one.
Both models are listed by Samsung among its 5G phones under ₹20,000, but confirm the exact variant, seller, local delivery availability and network compatibility before ordering. 5G support is not a guarantee of compatibility with every band or operator in every location.
