For the SM-A566B variant, firmware A566BXXS2AYD3 keeps the phone on Android 15 and One UI 7, adds the April 1, 2025 security patch, and lists stability, reliability and security improvements.
Historical note (August 18, 2026): The A56 has since received Android 16-based One UI 8 and One UI 8.5 updates. The details below concern its first update, released in April 2025.

Samsung’s model-specific record is available at Samsung’s SM-A566B firmware page. SamMobile reported the Thailand rollout and the same build number at its April 2025 report.
What the update changes
The release is best described as a security-focused maintenance update with stability improvements. Samsung does not list a redesigned interface, a new AI package, a camera overhaul, or an Android-version change in the official entry.

SamMobile said the April 2025 security package included 56 fixes for Samsung-device security vulnerabilities. That figure describes the April patch information reported at the time; the exact fixes delivered can vary by model, country and carrier.
What it does not change
- It does not upgrade the phone to Android 16.
- It does not introduce One UI 8.
- It is not a feature-heavy overhaul or a documented promise of better battery life, camera performance or gaming speed.
The A56 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7, so remaining on those versions after this first release is expected.

Where and when it rolled out
SamMobile reported that the update first appeared in selected markets, including Thailand, before broader distribution. Samsung’s official SM-A566B record lists April 24, 2025. Those dates describe different stages of a regional rollout, not worldwide availability on one day. The April 1 security-patch label is also a patch level, not the date every owner received the over-the-air package.
How to check for the update
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Choose Download and install.
- Review the offered build and security-patch level, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Use Wi-Fi, keep the battery adequately charged and allow the phone to restart if requested. Samsung’s A56 supports seamless updates, so installation can proceed in the background before the required reboot. Menu wording can differ slightly by region or One UI version.

Why the update may not appear
- Staged deployment: Samsung releases packages in waves rather than to every device simultaneously.
- Different model or CSC: The A566B build is not automatically valid for SM-A566U1, SM-A566E, SM-A5660 or another branch.
- Carrier approval: Carrier-branded and unlocked phones can receive the same release at different times.
- Already newer: A phone bought later may have a newer firmware version and therefore skip this historical package.
- Temporary pause or replacement: Samsung can stop a rollout or supersede it with a newer build.
Check Settings → About phone → Software information for the exact model number and current build. Compare that model with the relevant Samsung firmware record before assuming an update is missing. Do not flash firmware for another model or region merely because its build string looks similar; that can cause installation failures or data loss.

Samsung’s SM-A566B record subsequently lists One UI 8 on Android 16 from September 2025 and One UI 8.5 on Android 16 from May 2026. The latest entry visible in that record as of August 18, 2026 is build A566BXXSCCZG7, dated July 27, 2026, with the July 5, 2026 security patch. These are separate releases and should not be attributed to A566BXXS2AYD3.

How long Samsung says it will support the A56
Samsung announced up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A56 5G. This is a support-period commitment, not a guarantee of identical monthly release timing in every market. Schedules can vary by model, country, carrier and software branch. Samsung’s security-update scope is published at Samsung Mobile Security.
The support announcement is documented in Samsung’s global availability release. It makes the A56 a comparatively long-lived mid-range phone, but it does not guarantee simultaneous updates or every feature on every regional variant.
Bottom line
Owners of the SM-A566B received a modest but worthwhile first update: A566BXXS2AYD3, Android 15/One UI 7, and the April 1, 2025 security patch with stability and reliability work. Check through Samsung’s built-in Software update menu; if nothing appears, verify the model, region and carrier branch before treating the delay as a fault.
