NVIDIA’s European Marketplace briefly restocked the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition cards on January 30, 2026. The RTX 5090 FE reportedly sold out in about eight minutes, while the RTX 5080 FE lasted roughly 20 minutes. The RTX 5070 FE remained available for several hours.
This was a limited official-price allocation—not evidence that Founders Edition availability had returned to normal.
What restocked, and where?
The reported drop involved new sellable inventory on NVIDIA’s European regional marketplace, rather than a general worldwide restock. Availability was tracked by ComputerBase and relayed by outlets including Guru3D, TweakTown, and Abit.

Reported European listing prices were approximately €2,099 for the RTX 5090 FE and €1,059 for the RTX 5080 FE, although prices and tax treatment varied by country. Those figures should not be treated as U.S. prices or converted into U.S. MSRP.
How fast did the cards disappear?

The timing applies to the January 30, 2026 European drop. The MSRP column refers to NVIDIA’s original U.S. launch pricing for the RTX 50 series, announced for the January 30, 2025 launch. NVIDIA listed 32GB of GDDR7 for the RTX 5090 and 16GB for the RTX 5080 in its launch materials. See NVIDIA’s launch announcement for the original pricing and date.
“About eight minutes” is more accurate than claiming that every RTX 5090 FE sold at a precisely measured moment. Availability checks and checkout activity do not necessarily capture completed orders second by second.

Why Founders Edition cards are so competitive
Founders Edition cards are attractive because they provide the clearest route to NVIDIA’s official pricing. That matters when partner-board versions carry large premiums. The FE designs also appeal to buyers who want NVIDIA’s reference-style cooler, compact dimensions, and distinctive appearance.
Supply is limited by design and distribution. NVIDIA described Founders Edition inventory as limited at launch, while demand for the two highest-end models remains concentrated. A long gap between drops can cause buyers who have been waiting for weeks or months to respond to the same alert.
It is reasonable to suspect that automated monitoring, reseller demand, or bots may contribute to intense competition, but the available reporting does not prove how many units were purchased by automated systems. The clear evidence is simpler: limited inventory met unusually strong demand.

How far are normal retail prices from MSRP?
The gap between official pricing and street pricing explains why an FE restock can disappear almost immediately. In an August 2026 price snapshot, PC Gamer reported RTX 5080 listings around $1,289.99 at Walmart and Best Buy and about $1,478.99 at Amazon. The same coverage cited an RTX 5090 around $4,399.

Tom’s Hardware also reported partner RTX 5090 models priced above $4,300. These are dated, retailer-specific snapshots—not universal prices and not Founders Edition prices. Seller type, model, condition, region, tax, and shipping can all change the comparison.
This was not a return to normal availability
A short allocation demonstrates that NVIDIA still had access to some FE inventory. It does not demonstrate healthy, predictable supply.

NVIDIA later said Founders Edition cards remained in production and had not been discontinued when listings disappeared; they had been removed because they were out of stock. Tom’s Hardware reported the clarification. Continued production can coexist with irregular drops, regional differences, and inventory that sells out before most shoppers complete checkout.
A later QuakeCon 2026 offer of FE cards at MSRP “while supplies last” was another event-specific opportunity, not proof of an ongoing retail channel. Buyers should therefore treat MSRP FE inventory as an occasional opportunity rather than dependable stock.
How to improve your odds during the next drop
- Use the official channel first. Bookmark NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series buying page and the authorized retailer page for your country. A European listing may not ship to the United States, and U.S. availability has involved NVIDIA and Best Buy.
- Prepare your account. Sign in before a likely drop, verify your shipping address, and check that your billing information is current.
- Prepare payment. Use a working card or payment method, confirm its purchase limit, and allow for bank fraud checks. An expired card or billing-address mismatch can waste the entire window.
- Keep both targets ready. If your workload allows either model, have the RTX 5090 FE and RTX 5080 FE pages available. The 5090 offers 32GB of memory and flagship performance; the 5080’s lower launch price makes it the more practical target for many 4K gaming builds.
- Use alerts cautiously. Retailer notifications and reputable stock-alert services can help, but alerts may be delayed, generate false positives, or identify stock that is unavailable in your region. They do not reserve a card.
- Expect checkout failure. Adding a GPU to a cart does not necessarily reserve it. Queues, regional checks, inventory races, payment declines, and checkout errors can all occur after the product page shows availability.
- Do not use prohibited automation. Checkout bots, CAPTCHA bypasses, and automation that violates retailer terms can lead to canceled orders or blocked accounts. No monitoring service guarantees a successful purchase.
Wait for an FE card or buy a partner model?

The RTX 5090’s 32GB of GDDR7 can matter for local AI, professional rendering, and other memory-heavy workloads. For buyers focused mainly on gaming, paying several thousand dollars above the RTX 5080’s official launch price requires a much stronger justification than simply wanting the fastest available card. That is a value judgment, not a universal performance recommendation.

Partner models from ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, Zotac, and others may be the better choice when a system must be completed immediately or a particular cooler and form factor is required. Compare the exact model, seller, warranty, dimensions, power requirements, and price rather than treating any RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 listing as equivalent to an FE card.
Bottom line
The January 30, 2026 European NVIDIA Marketplace restock was real, but it was brief: the RTX 5090 FE reportedly lasted about eight minutes and the RTX 5080 FE about 20 minutes. The longer availability of the RTX 5070 FE shows that the most intense shortage was concentrated at the top end.
For buyers, the practical lesson is to prepare official accounts and payment details, monitor legitimate channels, and treat every alert as an opportunity—not a reservation. A partner card, existing GPU, or carefully evaluated prebuilt may be the safer choice than paying an extreme reseller premium for a Founders Edition that is temporarily unavailable.
