Yes—ASUS does not label BIOS 3304 as irreversible. The rollback warnings on ASUS’s support page apply explicitly to BIOS 3112 and 3402, not 3304. However, flashing any BIOS can cause a boot failure if interrupted or performed with the wrong file, and ASUS does not guarantee that BIOS FlashBack bypasses every version-specific rollback restriction.
If your system is stable, update only for a specific compatibility, stability, CPU, or memory reason. A Windows 11 Safe Mode keyboard or mouse problem alone is not proof that BIOS 3304 is required.
What changed from BIOS 1415 to 3304?
For the ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI, ASUS released BIOS 1415 on May 16, 2023. It introduced AGESA ComboAM5 PI 1.0.0.7a, support for 24 GB and 48 GB high-density DDR5 modules, related memory-QVL changes, and removal of the EXPO/XMP prompt notice.

BIOS 3304 was released on September 25, 2025. Its listed change is an update to AMD AGESA ComboAM5 PI 1.2.0.3g. ASUS’s short release note does not promise a fix for every USB, Windows, memory, or Safe Mode problem.

BIOS rollback warnings are version-specific
| BIOS | Release date | Main listed change | Rollback note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1415 | May 16, 2023 | AGESA 1.0.0.7a; high-density DDR5 support | No warning listed |
| 3112 | June 17, 2025 | AGESA 1.2.0.3e and compatibility/stability changes | “This update is irreversible” |
| 3304 | September 25, 2025 | AGESA 1.2.0.3g | No explicit irreversible warning listed |
| 3402 | November 26, 2025 | AGESA 1.2.7.0 | Cannot be rolled back to previous versions |
| 3902 | July 16, 2026 | AGESA 1.3.0.1b Patch A, TSME, memory and stability changes | Check the current ASUS notes |
Therefore, the warning for BIOS 3112 should not automatically be treated as applying to BIOS 3304. Likewise, it is not accurate to say that every BIOS released after 3112 is automatically impossible to downgrade.
ASUS does not document an intermediate BIOS requirement for moving from 1415 to 3304. That does not guarantee that every later downgrade or recovery path will work: rollback behavior can change between firmware generations.

What “rollback” and “recovery” mean
- EZ Flash 3 rollback: selecting an older BIOS from within the firmware utility, where permitted.
- USB BIOS FlashBack: a separate rear-I/O update method that can operate without entering the existing BIOS or operating system.
- CrashFree BIOS 3: a recovery feature for certain corrupted or failed BIOS situations.
- Failed flash: a damaged or interrupted update that may leave the board unable to boot. This is different from an intentional anti-rollback restriction.
The board supports BIOS FlashBack, but ASUS’s documentation does not establish that FlashBack overrides every rollback lock. Do not assume it can always bypass an “irreversible” warning.
Should you update from 1415?
Updating to 3304 is reasonable when you need a documented AGESA, CPU, memory, stability, or compatibility change and can tolerate troubleshooting if the update does not behave as expected.
Staying on 1415 is defensible when the computer is stable, supports its CPU and memory, and the only motivation is a Windows Safe Mode input problem. ASUS’s BIOS manual generally advises against manually updating when there is no problem with the current BIOS.

Although ASUS listed BIOS 3902 as the current non-beta release as of August 18, 2026, newer is not automatically better for every configuration. Do not silently substitute 3902 for the deliberately selected 3304 release; compare the current notes with your CPU, memory, and rollback requirements.

Before flashing
- Confirm that the board is exactly ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI. X670E-A and X670E-E files are not interchangeable.
- Download the BIOS only from ASUS’s support page and extract the archive.
- For maximum assurance, verify BIOS 3304’s published SHA-256 checksum:
611D7507E0B7D17DB0C4449E0924B378E614128025D7C743A9A6244016E086D1. - Photograph or record your BIOS settings, including EXPO, PBO, Curve Optimizer, fan curves, boot order, virtualization, and ReBAR.
- Return CPU, memory, and curve-optimizer overclocks to stable or default settings.
- Make sure your BitLocker recovery key is available. Firmware changes can trigger a recovery prompt.
- Use reliable mains power and do not flash while the system is already crashing.
- Prepare a FAT32 recovery USB drive, preferably USB 2.0, if the update is important.
Preferred method: EZ Flash 3
Use EZ Flash when the system is stable and you can enter firmware setup.
- Copy the extracted BIOS file to a USB flash drive.
- Restart and press Delete to enter BIOS.
- Press F7 for Advanced Mode if necessary.
- Open Tool → ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility.
- Select the USB drive and BIOS file.
- Confirm the update and wait. Do not reset, power off, or disconnect the system.
- After rebooting, enter BIOS again and check the version.
- If booting or stability is abnormal, load optimized defaults, save, reboot, and reapply settings gradually.
The menu sequence is documented in ASUS’s ROG Strix X670E BIOS manual.

Alternative method: USB BIOS FlashBack
FlashBack is useful when EZ Flash is unavailable or the computer cannot reliably boot. The motherboard manual recommends a USB 2.0 drive for compatibility.
- Format the USB drive as FAT32.
- Extract the BIOS archive.
- Rename the BIOS file to
SX670EF.CAP, manually or with ASUS BIOSRenamer. - Put the renamed file in the drive’s root directory.
- Shut down the computer, leaving the power supply connected and switched on.
- Insert the drive into the rear USB port marked for BIOS FlashBack.
- Hold the BIOS FlashBack button for about three seconds.
- Confirm that the LED blinks three times, then wait until it goes out.
Do not remove the drive, cut power, or press Clear CMOS during the process. According to the motherboard manual, a light that flashes for roughly five seconds and then becomes solid indicates that FlashBack did not start correctly. Recheck the model, filename, USB format, drive, and port.

After the update: first boot and recovery
AM5 systems may take longer to start after a BIOS change because memory training can run again. Avoid repeatedly forcing shutdowns while the board is working.

If the system eventually reaches BIOS, load optimized defaults, save and reboot, confirm the correct boot drive, then restore EXPO, PBO, fan curves, and other settings one at a time. A successful update may reset or require reconfiguration of these settings.
If there is no display or the board appears stuck:
- Power down completely.
- Disconnect unnecessary USB devices and expansion hardware.
- Clear CMOS only as described in the motherboard instructions.
- Try BIOS FlashBack using a freshly formatted FAT32 drive.
- Verify the exact X670E-F file and
SX670EF.CAPfilename. - Try another simple USB 2.0 drive.
- If recovery fails, contact ASUS service.
ASUS warns that an interrupted or damaged update can prevent booting and directs users to service if recovery does not work.
Will BIOS 3304 fix a Windows 11 Safe Mode keyboard or mouse problem?
Not necessarily. If the keyboard and mouse work in normal Windows or BIOS but disappear only in Windows 11 24H2 Safe Mode, the problem may be related to Windows recovery, USB support, or device drivers rather than motherboard firmware.
Before treating the BIOS as the solution, test a wired keyboard, try different rear USB ports, remove wireless receivers and unnecessary USB devices, and confirm whether input works in BIOS. Troubleshoot Windows, chipset, USB, and device drivers separately. Update BIOS for a documented firmware need—not solely because Safe Mode input is unavailable.
Bottom line
For this exact question, 1415 → 3304 is not documented by ASUS as an irreversible update, and ASUS does not list an intermediate BIOS requirement. That makes the jump technically reasonable when you have a genuine reason to update.
It is not risk-free. Back up your settings and BitLocker recovery information, remove unstable tuning, use EZ Flash on a stable system, and prepare FlashBack before starting. Recheck ASUS’s live release notes immediately before flashing, especially if you choose a version newer than 3304, because rollback policies are version-specific.
