Verdict: The Redmi Note 13 4G is worth considering only at a substantial discount. Its 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery, microSD expansion and headphone jack make it a capable everyday media phone. But the Snapdragon 685 is modest, it has no 5G, and its age makes software support and battery condition important concerns. Buy it for the screen and useful extras—not for gaming, long-term headroom or the promise of a 108MP camera.
This review covers the Redmi Note 13 4G, not the Redmi Note 13 5G, either Pro model, the Redmi 13 or the Note 13R. They are different phones; specifications and availability also vary by region.

Those headline specifications are not universal in every market. RAM and storage options, NFC, cellular bands, charger-in-box and software rollout can vary. Check the exact model number and local listing, rather than assuming that every phone sold as “Redmi Note 13” is identical. Xiaomi’s regional specifications are a useful starting point.
Price and availability: buy on value, not its old launch reputation
The Note 13 4G arrived internationally in January 2024, positioned around the roughly $200 budget-phone class in some markets. By 2026, it is an older model, so its original value proposition does not settle whether a listing is a good deal now. Clearance stock may be attractive; a price close to newer phones usually is not.

Compare it with the Redmi Note 14 4G, its successor, and with current local alternatives before paying. The Note 14 4G has the advantage of being newer and a more favorable starting point for remaining software support. The older phone may still be preferable if it is appreciably cheaper or if its ultrawide camera matters to you; camera hardware on the successor can differ by market. In the US, treat listings with particular care. A listing is not proof of broad official local distribution, carrier compatibility or warranty coverage. One US-facing listing showed $269.99, but that is a seller and price signal, not a universal street price or evidence that the phone is compelling at that amount. At a similar price, compare newer phones with local support, including the Motorola Moto G family and Samsung Galaxy A series. Those lines may trade display or charging specifications for easier support and compatibility.
Design and durability
The phone has a flat-sided plastic body, is about 8mm thick and weighs roughly 188.5g. For a 6.67-inch phone, that is relatively manageable, though the wide body can make one-handed use awkward. Plastic is an ordinary budget-class compromise; it is not the feel of a premium glass-and-metal device.
Its IP54 rating means limited protection against dust and splashes under specified conditions. It does not make the phone waterproof: do not submerge it, take it swimming or expose it to water jets. Xiaomi lists Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. There is USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster. A hybrid SIM/microSD arrangement is used where that configuration applies, so adding a memory card may mean giving up a second SIM.
The in-display fingerprint reader is a less reassuring part of the everyday experience: Tech Advisor found it unreliable. That is a practical drawback worth considering if you unlock your phone constantly. Face unlock may be convenient, but it should not be treated as equivalent to a secure hardware-backed payment or authentication method.
Display: the clear reason to consider it
The strongest part of the Note 13 4G is its 6.67-inch AMOLED screen: 2400 × 1080 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. AMOLED brings deep blacks and strong contrast, which work well for films, photos and dark-mode apps. Scrolling can look fluid when an app and the phone’s settings use a high refresh rate.

Xiaomi advertises peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. That is a peak specification, not a promise of sustained brightness across the whole screen in all conditions. It should not be read as a guarantee of exceptional outdoor readability under prolonged direct sun. Likewise, 120Hz is a maximum capability, not a setting every app or task will use.
The display can make the phone feel more expensive than its processor is. Smooth scrolling is not the same thing as fast app processing or high-frame-rate gaming. Notebookcheck and Tech Advisor both identify the display as a major strength. Xiaomi also lists TÜV Rheinland certifications relating to low blue light, circadian-friendly use and flicker; those are display certifications, not a guarantee that the screen will suit every viewer.
Performance: fine for basics, limited for games and heavy use
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 685, Adreno 610 graphics, LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage make this a basic-use phone, not a performance bargain. Configurations commonly include 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, but availability differs by region. Virtual memory features, where offered, use storage and are not a substitute for physical RAM.
Calls, messaging, email, browsing, navigation, video streaming, music and routine social apps are within its comfort zone. Heavier apps can take longer to open, and switching among many apps may feel slower than on newer budget phones. Casual games are reasonable; demanding 3D games are better approached with low or medium graphics expectations. The chip is not a strong choice if gaming, sustained graphics performance or several years of increasingly demanding apps are priorities.
That is the central mismatch in the hardware: the high-refresh AMOLED and 108MP label sound ambitious, but the processor remains entry-level. The phone is not unusable; it simply cannot turn those impressive-looking specifications into flagship-like speed.

The 4G model launched with Android 13 and MIUI 14, according to contemporary review coverage; do not assume software details from the separate Note 13 5G model apply. Subsequent Android version, HyperOS availability and security patches depend on region and rollout. Xiaomi’s security-update policy is the place to check the support status for the exact model. Reviewers reported expectations of two or three major Android updates and four years of security updates, but those reports are not a substitute for a confirmed regional end-of-support date.

A third-party ROM tracker has reported a global Android 15 / HyperOS 2.2 build with a May 2026 security patch. Treat that as a rollout signal, not proof that every regional handset has received the same release or patch. Check the phone’s installed version and Xiaomi’s policy rather than relying on a seller’s generic “latest software” claim.
MIUI/HyperOS can also require more housekeeping than a clean Android installation. Preinstalled apps and games, promotional notifications and aggressive background-app management may be irritating; the latter can delay some app notifications unless battery and autostart settings are adjusted. Menus, preinstalled software and update timing vary by software region. If reliable background notifications or a simple setup are essential, factor this into the decision.
Battery and charging
The 5,000mAh battery and efficient-enough hardware should give a normal user a full day with mixed use, and light use can last longer. Heavy gaming, long periods on mobile data, weak signal, high brightness and 120Hz operation all increase drain; the screen can also be set to a lower refresh rate if endurance matters more than smooth scrolling. Wi-Fi video playback is a different and usually lighter workload than all-day navigation or gaming, so battery claims should not be compared without considering how the phone was used.

Wired charging is rated at 33W. Charger inclusion varies by market and package. In its review, Tech Advisor measured about 63% charge from empty in 30 minutes with the included charger, and a little over an hour for a full charge under its test conditions. Your result will differ with charger, temperature, settings and battery condition.
Because this is a 2024 model, a unit sold in 2026 could have spent a long time in storage or already been used. Ask about manufacturing or activation date when possible, inspect warranty and seal status, and buy from somewhere with a clear return window. A new-looking box alone does not establish the health of an aging battery.

The rear array comprises a 108MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera; the front camera is 16MP. Xiaomi lists front video up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. The main camera is the one to prioritize. The 108MP figure describes sensor resolution, not the quality of every photo: normal captures are generally pixel-binned rather than full-resolution images. Notebookcheck notes the usual 12MP output, while PhoneArena considers the main camera the only rear camera it can recommend wholeheartedly.

In daylight, the main camera is the likeliest to deliver pleasing detail for the price. It is not a safe bet for consistently excellent HDR, accurate skin tones, indoor motion or night photography. Small sensors and budget image processing tend to show their limits as light falls; moving subjects are especially unforgiving. The ultrawide is useful for fitting more into a daylight scene, but expect less detail and weaker low-light results than from the main camera. The macro camera is a low-value extra, not a meaningful reason to buy.

Video is also a compromise compared with costlier phones. Do not infer resolution, frame-rate options or stabilization quality from the megapixel count; menus and capabilities can vary with software region. If video matters, confirm the recording options on the exact regional version before purchase. The selfie camera is suitable for ordinary use, but modest expectations are sensible for backlit scenes, moving subjects and difficult indoor light.
Connectivity and useful extras
This is a 4G LTE phone, not a 5G phone. Dual-SIM support, NFC and LTE bands vary by market and model. NFC presence in one country’s specification page does not confirm it in another region’s handset; check the exact listing, retail box or device settings if tap-to-pay matters. The same applies to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth details when a precise specification is important.
For an imported phone, verify the model number and supported cellular bands with your carrier. In the US especially, also ask the carrier or seller to confirm VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling, and get the return and warranty terms in writing. Missing bands or unsupported calling features can make an otherwise functional phone a poor fit. Check seller identity, charger plug, refurbished or open-box status, software region and whether the unit is the 4G model—not just the product name in the listing.
For the right buyer, the headphone jack, microSD slot and IR blaster are genuinely useful. NFC is a bonus only on versions that include it. Notebookcheck lists USB 2.0-class transfer, USB-C Power Delivery, infrared, a 3.5mm port, microSD and NFC on its tested configuration; those observations should not be taken to establish every regional variant’s hardware.
Redmi Note 13 4G versus the alternatives
- Redmi Note 14 4G: The natural comparison. It is newer and generally a safer starting point for remaining support. The Note 13 can win on price, and its ultrawide camera may be an advantage depending on the successor’s regional configuration. Compare actual local specifications, not just model names.
- Redmi Note 13 5G: It is a distinct phone, not a faster network setting for the 4G model. Its chipset, body, fingerprint hardware and software presentation differ. Compare exact versions and prices; do not apply one model’s review conclusions to the other.
- Motorola Moto G: A current Moto G may make more sense for a US buyer who values local carrier compatibility, warranty and a cleaner Android experience. Some models may give up AMOLED quality or make other hardware compromises.
- Samsung Galaxy A: A Galaxy A model is worth comparing if support, broad carrier availability and predictable local service matter more than maximizing display specifications or charging speed. Specific screen and charging trade-offs depend on the model.
- Newer budget 5G phones: If you expect to keep the phone for years or want 5G, compare the cost of stepping up. The Note 13 4G’s lower price only helps if the savings are substantial enough to justify an older 4G-only device.
Who should buy it?
- Buy it if you mainly stream, browse, message and use everyday apps, and want a high-contrast AMOLED display.
- Consider it if a headphone jack, microSD storage or IR blaster solves a real need for you.
- Buy only at a meaningful discount to the Note 14 4G and comparable newer phones, and only after confirming the regional model has the features and bands you need.
- For used or old stock, check battery condition, activation and warranty status, seller returns and update availability before paying.
Who should skip it?
- Skip it for demanding gaming, heavy multitasking or the best long-term performance headroom.
- Skip it if you need 5G, or if the price is close to a newer 5G alternative.
- Skip it if long, predictable software support is a priority and Xiaomi’s policy does not confirm enough remaining support for your needs.
- Skip an import if you cannot verify its model number, LTE bands, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, NFC (if required), warranty and return rights.
- Do not buy it for the 108MP label alone, or if you need water protection beyond resistance to splashes.
Final verdict
The Redmi Note 13 4G still makes sense as a discounted, display-first phone for everyday basics. Its AMOLED screen, battery, expandable storage and traditional headphone jack are a useful combination. The Snapdragon 685, 4G-only connectivity, uncertain remaining support by region and older stock are equally real parts of the deal.
Buy only if it is substantially cheaper than newer alternatives and its exact regional version fits your carrier and feature needs. At near-newer-phone pricing—particularly for a US import—the safer choice is usually a current model with verified compatibility and local support.
