Xiaomi launched the Redmi Book 14 2024 and Redmi Book 16 2024 in China on November 29, 2023, alongside the Redmi K70 series. Despite the 2024 model-year label, these are late-2023 launches built around Intel’s 13th-generation Core i5-13500H. The 14-inch model prioritizes a sharper, lighter display; the 16-inch version offers more screen space and a larger battery.
China launch prices and availability
At launch, the Redmi Book 14 2024 was listed at CNY 4,199 with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, or CNY 4,499 with a 1TB SSD. The Redmi Book 16 2024 cost CNY 4,399 with 16GB/512GB or CNY 4,699 with 16GB/1TB. These were China-market prices, not U.S. MSRPs or evidence of official U.S. availability. Gadgets 360’s launch report said the 14-inch model was available through Xiaomi’s Chinese website, while the 16-inch model was scheduled to go on sale December 1, 2023.
As of August 18, 2026, Xiaomi’s China store lists newer Redmi Book generations and also shows the Redmi Book 16 2024 from CNY 3,699 in a catalog view. That listing is a current China-store signal, not a guarantee of stock, configuration or price when you visit. Check the Xiaomi China listing for its live details; buyers elsewhere should check local availability and support separately.

Do not treat a currency conversion as a local retail price. Import costs can add shipping, taxes and seller markup, and warranty coverage may be limited. Xiaomi’s China listings for the 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB versions can help identify the China-market configurations, but do not establish international support.

Redmi Book 14 vs. Redmi Book 16 specifications
The shared platform includes the Core i5-13500H, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, 16GB LPDDR5 memory and a PCIe 4.0 SSD in 512GB or 1TB capacities. Both were reported with Windows 11, a backlit keyboard, fingerprint recognition in the power button, a 1080p webcam, quad microphones, dual 2W speakers, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Display brightness and color figures are published specifications reported in launch coverage, not independent lab measurements. Chinese coverage also reported 120Hz and 100% sRGB for the displays.

What the Core i5-13500H means for everyday work
The i5-13500H is an H-series mobile processor, a performance-oriented class rather than a low-power U-series part. It is a sensible fit on paper for office multitasking, coding, compiling and light content creation, but no independent benchmark or sustained-performance result is established here. Xiaomi’s launch specifications cited a 47W performance-release target and dual-fan cooling with two 8mm heat pipes; those are advertised platform details, not measured performance guarantees. IT Home’s Chinese launch coverage reports those figures.

Intel Iris Xe is integrated graphics, not a discrete GPU. It should suit everyday work and video playback, and may handle some lighter games, but these machines are not positioned for demanding modern gaming, 3D rendering or GPU-intensive creative workloads. A 120Hz screen does not change that graphics limitation.

Screen size, battery and portability
Choose the 14-inch model for carrying and sharpness
The Book 14 weighs about 1.37kg and has a 2.8K-class 2,880 × 1,800 panel. It has more pixels on a smaller screen than the 16-inch model, making it the sharper option on the listed resolutions. Its 56Wh battery is smaller, and its reported brightness is lower. It is the more practical fit for commuting, school or frequent meetings if a 14-inch workspace is comfortable.
Choose the 16-inch model for workspace
The Book 16’s larger physical display gives documents, spreadsheets and code more room, and its listed panel is brighter at about 400 nits. It also has a 72Wh battery, but weighs about 310g more than the 14-inch model. The larger battery does not by itself prove longer runtime: display size and brightness, workload, firmware and power limits all affect battery life.

Both models were advertised with 100W GaN charging. That rating does not establish a charging time or real-world battery runtime.

Both configurations were reported with 16GB LPDDR5 memory. The available launch coverage does not establish that memory is user-upgradable, so do not buy on the assumption that RAM can be expanded. Chinese coverage reported a second M.2 slot for storage expansion, but verify the slot arrangement, supported SSD length and clearance for the exact regional SKU before planning an upgrade. The 512GB and 1TB configurations make the larger SSD worth considering if the price difference is reasonable.

The reported port selection is one Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB-A ports, HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. Launch coverage also mentions NFC. The HDMI version and precise wireless standard were not established, so do not assume a particular Wi-Fi generation or a specific display, charging and data behavior from the Thunderbolt port without checking the model’s local specification sheet.
What to check before buying an imported unit
- Warranty and service: Confirm who will provide repairs in your country and whether the seller’s warranty is honored locally.
- Keyboard and software: Check keyboard layout, Windows language and licensing, firmware localization, and whether any language changes are seller-provided.
- Power adapter: Confirm the charger plug and electrical compatibility for your region.
- Exact configuration: Verify RAM and SSD capacity, port layout, and any claimed second M.2 slot against the exact SKU.
- Regional differences: Ports, wireless features, support policies and software can differ between market variants; China-market details do not prove every regional unit is identical.
Are the Redmi Book 14 and 16 2024 worth considering in 2026?
These are older 2024-branded models, launched in 2023, rather than current-generation laptops. Xiaomi’s China catalog now includes newer generations; its catalog snapshot listed the Redmi Book 14 2026 from CNY 5,699 and the Redmi Book 16 2026 from CNY 5,899. Those China listings are useful context, but do not establish like-for-like specifications, local availability or value in another market. The current catalog context is available at Xiaomi’s China store.
Consider either 2024 model only if its actual local or import price is compelling and support is acceptable. Reconsider them if you need a dedicated GPU, upgradeable RAM, a touchscreen, a verified high-brightness outdoor display, current-generation hardware or guaranteed U.S. warranty and support. The evidence establishes a China launch, not an official U.S. launch.
