Yes—but Tesla Supercharger access and automatic Plug & Charge are not the same thing. Porsche says all Macan Electric models and model-year 2026 Taycans can use Plug & Charge at compatible Tesla Superchargers through Porsche Charging Service. Other Taycans can use compatible stations with Porsche’s NACS-to-CCS1 DC adapter, but owners should verify Plug & Charge support for their specific car. The adapter is normally required, and Porsche identifies V3 and newer Superchargers as compatible.
What Porsche announced
On January 20, 2026, Porsche announced Plug & Charge at compatible Tesla Superchargers for all Macan Electric models and model-year 2026 Taycans through Porsche Charging Service. Porsche said the rollout covers more than 27,500 U.S. Superchargers at that time. See Porsche’s announcement.
The change adds automatic authorization to Tesla-network access Porsche had already enabled for CCS-equipped vehicles using an adapter. It does not mean every Taycan has the same Plug & Charge support, or that Tesla charging is free.

Which Porsche models can use Tesla Superchargers?
Porsche’s U.S. support page lists Taycan model years 2020 onward and Macan Electric model years 2024 onward for use with its approved adapter, subject to station compatibility. This applies to the battery-electric Macan, not gasoline or plug-in-hybrid Macans. Porsche plug-in hybrids cannot use this adapter for DC charging.

Porsche identifies V3 and newer Superchargers as compatible. Check a specific site in the My Porsche app or Porsche Charging Planner before driving there; not every Tesla location is usable. Tesla’s non-Tesla Supercharging page also provides station and app information.
Adapter: what you need and what it does
The connection is Tesla’s NACS cable into the Porsche-approved adapter, then the adapter’s CCS1 connector into the car. Porsche recommends using its approved NACS DC adapter. This is a high-power DC fast-charging adapter, not an AC converter: it will not work with Tesla Destination Chargers, home NACS wall chargers, or other Level 1 or Level 2 AC equipment. Porsche said new model-year 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric vehicles include the adapter. Its 2025 announcement described complimentary adapters for eligible model-year 2025 Taycan owners and existing Macan Electric owners, while model-year 2024-and-earlier Taycan owners could purchase one at a stated $185 MSRP. Those were program terms and pricing in that announcement; confirm current eligibility, availability, or replacement cost with a Porsche Center or Porsche’s online shop.

Set up Porsche Charging Service and Plug & Charge
Plug & Charge uses a certificate associated with the vehicle and charging-service account to authorize a session. Once it is active and the station supports it, you can generally connect without opening an app or tapping a payment card. Setup still requires an active Porsche Charging Service contract, a compatible vehicle and station, connectivity, and Plug & Charge enabled in the car.

- Activate Porsche Charging Service: In My Porsche, open the Account or Charging widget, choose Charging Service, then Activate Charging Service. Select an available plan, enter billing and payment details, accept the terms, and confirm. Porsche’s Charging Service page describes the service.
- Enable Plug & Charge in a Taycan: On the PCM, go to Home → Charge → Overview → three-dot menu → Activate Plug & Charge. Porsche’s U.S. support page says Taycan support begins with model year 2021, but lists software and onboard-charger requirements; a model year alone does not guarantee that the menu is available. - Prepare a Macan Electric: Log in with your Porsche ID, keep the vehicle online and connected to Porsche Connect Services, and use My Porsche to install the charging certificate if prompted. The path is select vehicle → Charging widget → settings → Manage certificates → select certificate → Install. Porsche says installation may take about a minute depending on reception. - Choose a compatible site: Use the Porsche Charging Planner or My Porsche app to check station compatibility and route options. Keep the Tesla app set up as a fallback for station details, pricing, and manual authorization where needed.
Porsche’s current U.S. Taycan support page lists Cluster 33 software with the 11-kW onboard charger, or hardware H14 and software VR15 SW 1254 with the 22-kW onboard charger. Requirements can vary by market and build; if the PCM option is missing, ask a Porsche Center to check the vehicle configuration and software.
How to charge at a Tesla Supercharger
- Confirm the site is compatible and choose a stall where the cable can reach the Porsche’s charge port. Some Supercharger layouts and cable positions are awkward for non-Tesla vehicles.
- Remove the adapter’s protective caps if present. Insert the Tesla NACS connector into the adapter, then connect the adapter’s CCS1 end to the Porsche.
- Wait for the car and charger to authenticate and show that charging has started. With Plug & Charge configured, authorization should be automatic.
- If the session does not begin, check the charger status and use the Tesla app or another supported manual authorization method rather than repeatedly reconnecting.
- Stop the session using the vehicle, charger, Tesla app, or My Porsche app—whichever method applies to that session. Wait for the connector to unlock, disconnect the adapter from the vehicle, then separate the Tesla cable from the adapter and store it safely. Porsche documents the CCS1 release latch and NACS unlock button on its adapter page.
What it costs—and what Porsche’s charging plan covers
Plug & Charge is an authorization and billing convenience, not a promise of free Tesla charging. Porsche’s current U.S. plan information lists a standard plan with no ongoing plan fee after the applicable inclusive period, with charging billed at standard pricing. It lists Porsche Charging Service Premium at $99 for a one-year contract, including a 25% Electrify America discount and ChargePoint roaming access.

Porsche’s page describes inclusive periods of one year for Taycan model years 2025 and Macan Electric model years 2024 and 2025, and three years for Taycan model years 2020–2024. The stated inclusive benefit includes 30 minutes of charging per Electrify America session, a 10-minute idle-fee grace period, and at least 60 minutes between consecutive sessions. These limits do not amount to unlimited free charging at Tesla; check the plan shown in your own account. Tesla says current Supercharger prices are displayed in its app and can vary by site.

Tesla access can add useful fast-charging stops, but a compatible stall may not deliver the highest speed the Porsche can achieve elsewhere. Porsche’s guidance says that at 400-volt stations, Taycan charging can top out at 150 kW under applicable conditions, while Macan Electric can reach up to 135 kW. Taycan model-year 2020–2024 cars without the optional 150-kW DC charger may be limited to 50 kW. Porsche says Macan Electric can reach up to 270 kW under suitable high-voltage conditions.

These are vehicle capability figures, not a guaranteed Tesla-stall output. Actual power depends on the car’s equipment, battery temperature and state of charge, the station, and site conditions. Porsche explains the limits in its charging-speed guidance. When maximum speed matters, compare the Tesla stop with an available high-voltage alternative—such as Electrify America, IONNA, selected ChargePoint locations, Porsche Center chargers, or other stations in the Porsche planner. Station capability and route coverage vary.
If Plug & Charge fails
- No session starts: Verify station compatibility, active Porsche Charging Service, certificate installation, vehicle connectivity, PCM Plug & Charge setting, and fully seated connectors. Check whether the stall is online and available.
- Use manual authentication: Tesla’s app can show pricing and support non-Tesla charging where required. For Macan Electric and Taycan model year 2025, Porsche documents Compatibility Mode at Home → Charging → Settings → Compatibility Mode → Start charging manually. Porsche also says it can be activated by holding the charge-port release button for three seconds; it deactivates when shifted into Drive or Reverse or after the relevant parking cycle.
- Older Taycan workaround: Porsche says Taycan model year 2024 and earlier does not support Compatibility Mode. If Plug & Charge is preventing a session, disable it and start manually using a supported method. See Porsche’s charging troubleshooting steps.
- Adapter does not fit or charging fails immediately: Confirm you have the Porsche-approved DC adapter rather than an AC adapter; do not try it on a destination or home charger. Inspect for damage or contamination and try another compatible stall. If the problem persists, contact Porsche or Tesla support with the station ID, stall number, model year, and displayed error.
When Tesla is the right stop
Treat Superchargers as another route option, not automatically the best one. They are especially useful where they fill a coverage gap, offer a nearer compatible stop, or provide a practical backup. Another network may be preferable when it offers a higher-voltage station, a better cable position, a lower price at that location, or a charging benefit that applies to your account. Check the site, price, and vehicle limits for the specific trip rather than assuming all compatible chargers perform alike.
