Choose the Poly Blackwire 3320 if you only need a USB headset for a computer. Choose the Blackwire 3325 if you also need a 3.5-mm analog connection for a compatible phone, tablet, or other audio device. The 3325 is more versatile, but its model number does not signal a documented upgrade to speaker or microphone performance: the published core specifications are very similar.
Before ordering either one, check the exact SKU. Both models come in USB-A and USB-C variants, and adapter contents differ by package.

Specifications are based on HP/Poly’s 3320 USB-C listing and 3325 listing. Features and box contents can vary with the exact regional or Teams-certified package.
The real difference is the connection
The 3320 is a USB headset. Pick the USB-A or USB-C version that matches your computer, or confirm that the package explicitly includes an adapter if you need to move between port types. HP lists distinct USB-A and USB-C 3320 variants.

The 3325 adds a 3.5-mm plug as well as USB. That makes it the sensible choice if you want one wired headset to connect to a computer by USB and, when the device supports it, to a phone, tablet, airplane entertainment system, or other audio source through a headset jack. The 3325 is available in USB-A and USB-C packages; check the USB-C product document and the seller’s listing for the particular connector and adapter included.
A 3.5-mm jack must support headset audio and microphone input if you expect to use the microphone, and many newer phones lack that jack. USB-C is not a guarantee that every phone or tablet supports the headset’s USB audio path. Confirm compatibility for the device you intend to use. Analog audio also may not provide the same USB controls, software management, or application integration as a USB connection.

Does the 3325 sound or perform better?
There is no clear basis in the published specifications to buy the 3325 for better sound. Both models list a 32-mm, 32-ohm speaker, with media bandwidth of 20 Hz–20 kHz and speech-mode bandwidth around 200 Hz–6.8 kHz. Their microphone specifications are also similar: a noise-canceling microphone with a listed 100 Hz–10 kHz range, alongside noise and echo reduction features. HP’s 3320 datasheet and 3325 datasheet do not establish a meaningful performance advantage for the latter.

Those figures describe the intended business-call use, not a guarantee of identical real-world sound or a claim of premium music quality. Without comparable independent testing, claims that the 3325 is clearer, louder, or better for music would go beyond the available evidence. Treat it as a connectivity upgrade, not an audio upgrade.

Noise-canceling microphone is not active noise cancellation
Both headsets have a noise-canceling microphone intended to reduce background noise sent to callers. That is different from active noise cancellation (ANC), which reduces ambient sound heard by the wearer. The 3320 and 3325 should not be treated as ANC headphones on the basis of their microphone feature. HP’s Blackwire family overview identifies the 3300 line’s microphone feature; if you specifically need ANC, the Blackwire 8225 is the family model identified for it.
USB, Teams, adapters, and model names
- Check the port, not just the model name. USB-A and USB-C variants exist for both headsets. A USB-C-to-USB-A adapter appears in some packages, not all. Confirm the product number and box contents before buying.
- Teams versions are separate SKUs. Select a Microsoft Teams-certified version if certification, dedicated controls, or an organization’s deployment requirements matter. Certification is not proof of better speaker or microphone hardware. A Teams-certified 3320 package, for example, has its own certification details.
- Do not confuse 3325 with 3225. The Blackwire 3225 belongs to the separate 3200 series, not the 3300 series. Verify the first digit on retailer listings; HP maintains a distinct 3200-series support page.
- Wired means no Bluetooth pairing or battery charging. Basic USB audio should work over the wired connection without requiring a companion app. Poly Lens is available for management and updates, but software features and workflows depend on the exact version and setup; a 3.5-mm analog connection does not provide the same USB management path.
Package contents can differ by SKU. Do not assume that an adapter, or any particular accessory, comes with every 3320 or 3325. Use HP/Poly documentation and the exact seller listing rather than relying on a generic product-family title.

Comfort and everyday use
Both are on-ear headsets. On-ear pads can feel less enclosing than large over-ear cups, but they press on the ears; comfort over a long workday varies with head shape, glasses, hair, and fit. Published specifications are not a substitute for a hands-on comfort test, so avoid assuming either is comfortable for everyone during all-day calls.

The wired design avoids charging and pairing, which is useful for a desk headset. In exchange, the cable can snag or clutter a workspace, and the analog option on the 3325 does not make it wireless. If you need cable-free use, neither model fits that requirement.
Which one should you buy?
- Computer-only calls and meetings: Buy the 3320 in the correct USB-A or USB-C version. If its price is lower, you are not giving up a documented core audio upgrade by skipping the 3325.
- Computer plus a 3.5-mm device: Buy the 3325. Its analog connection is the decisive advantage, provided the device has a compatible headset jack.
- USB-C laptop and older USB-A computers: Choose a package that explicitly includes the USB-C-to-USB-A adapter, or confirm you already have a compatible adapter. Do not infer box contents from “USB-C” alone.
- Microsoft Teams deployment: Compare the exact Teams-certified SKU with the standard UC version. Pay for certification and integration if your organization needs them, not because the certification promises superior sound.
- Lowest price: The 3320 is generally the value-oriented choice for USB-only use, but prices vary by region, seller, promotion, and package. Compare the live price of the exact connector variant rather than relying on a model-wide price assumption.
- Need ANC or wireless: Skip both. Consider a headset explicitly designed for ANC, such as the Blackwire 8225, or a wireless model if freedom from a cable matters more.
Alternatives worth considering
If you want to stay wired but are considering a more upscale option with USB and 3.5-mm connectivity, the Poly Blackwire 5220 is another model to compare; confirm its current package, features, and price before deciding. If active noise cancellation is the requirement, look at the Blackwire 8225 instead. Neither alternative changes the basic 3320-versus-3325 decision: for these two, the practical dividing line is whether you need the 3325’s analog connection.
