The POCO M6 Pro 4G is still appealing if you want a smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen, 67W charging and expandable storage for little money. But it is an older, 4G-only phone, and its remaining software support is not clearly guaranteed for every region. In 2026, buy it only at a substantial discount to newer 5G phones—and only if its display and extras matter more to you than gaming power, camera flexibility or longer-term support.
This review is specifically about the global POCO M6 Pro 4G, released in early 2024. It is not the separate POCO M6 Pro 5G: the global 4G model uses a MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra chip and does not support 5G. Retail listings sometimes blur the two, so check the model and specifications before buying.

Display: the phone’s clearest strength
The 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED panel has a 2400 × 1080 resolution and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz. That combination gives text and images good sharpness, deep blacks and the smooth scrolling that many inexpensive LCD phones cannot match. An independent Notebookcheck review praised the display’s quality and measured brightness above 1,000 nits.

The refresh rate can vary according to the app; do not assume every app runs at 120Hz all the time. Buyers sensitive to display flicker or PWM dimming should check independent measurements for their own comfort needs, rather than infer a universal result from the specifications.

The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and has an in-display fingerprint reader. These are useful inclusions, but a glass rating does not make the display immune to drops or scratches.
Performance: fine for everyday use, not a gaming upgrade
The Helio G99-Ultra is a 6nm, 4G chipset with two Cortex-A76 cores up to 2.2GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0GHz and Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. In ordinary use—messaging, browsing, navigation, video and social apps—it is capable and responsive. The “Ultra” label should not be read as evidence of a major leap over the standard Helio G99: Notebookcheck found no meaningful benchmark advantage.
Casual and moderately demanding games are reasonable, but demanding titles call for reduced graphics settings and expectations. This is not a performance phone for high-end gaming or several more years of increasingly demanding 3D games. If gaming, intensive multitasking or a longer performance runway is important, a newer 5G phone with a stronger chip is a better bet.
Cameras: OIS helps, but the extra lenses are modest
The rear camera system pairs a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide with a 118-degree field of view and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera is 16MP. Independent testing found the main camera acceptable in good light, while detail from the secondary cameras was weaker.

- Main camera: The most useful of the three. It can produce decent daylight photos, and OIS helps steady the camera and can help in low light. It cannot guarantee sharp images of moving people or subjects in dim conditions.
- Ultrawide: Useful for fitting more into a scene, but its lower resolution means less detail than the main camera, especially as light falls.
- Macro: The 2MP sensor is a limited extra, not a reason to choose the phone.
- Video: Recording tops out at 1080p at 60 frames per second. There is no 4K option, so video-focused buyers should consider alternatives.
The 64MP figure alone does not make this a photography-first phone. For dependable camera quality across lenses, night scenes and video, compare real camera results from the specific alternatives you are considering rather than comparing megapixels.
Battery and charging
The 5,000mAh battery and 67W wired charging are a strong practical combination. In Notebookcheck’s Wi-Fi web-surfing test, the phone lasted 14 hours and 5 minutes. Using the included charger, the test unit reached about 30% in 10 minutes and a full charge in roughly 50 minutes. Those are laboratory results, not a promise of the same screen-on time or charging speed for every user.
For typical mixed use, a day is a reasonable expectation; light use may stretch further. Games, high brightness, hotspot use and a weak cellular signal can shorten battery life. Maximum charging power is not sustained throughout the charge: speed varies with battery level, temperature, charger and cable. Confirm that the seller includes the compatible 67W charger, particularly for used or imported units.

Build, ports and everyday extras
The phone measures 161.1 × 74.95 × 7.98mm and is rated at 179g by POCO; Notebookcheck measured its test unit at 181g. It has a plastic frame and back, a glossy finish that can show fingerprints, and a camera bump that may make it rock when placed on a table.

Its IP54 rating indicates dust protection and resistance to splashing under specified test conditions. It is not waterproof: do not submerge it or treat it as safe for a shower or pool. POCO’s product page describes the rating and its limits.
The feature set is unusually useful for some budget-phone buyers:
- Stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack
- Infrared blaster for controlling compatible devices
- NFC, although functionality can vary by market
- microSD card support up to 1TB, subject to card compatibility
- Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and USB-C
There are trade-offs. The SIM tray is hybrid: use two SIMs, or one SIM and a microSD card, but not two SIMs plus a card. USB-C is USB 2.0, not a fast USB 3.x connection; Notebookcheck also found transfer performance over USB and its microSD reader poor. Wi-Fi 5 is older than Wi-Fi 6, and the phone has no 5G. Check that its LTE bands match your carrier, especially if buying an import.
Software and support: check the individual phone
The 4G model originally shipped with Android 13 and MIUI 14 for POCO. Notebookcheck noted at review time that the 4G version was not listed in Xiaomi’s update plan and treated support comparable to the 5G model as an assumption, not a confirmed commitment. That is not a sound basis for promising a particular Android-upgrade count or security-support end date now.

Before buying, ask the seller to show the exact phone’s Android or HyperOS version and security-patch date. Check the region and firmware too: imported devices can differ in update timing, warranty, bootloader status and Google-service configuration. If you need predictable updates for several years, favour a phone with a current, explicit regional support commitment.
Which version is it—and what should you check?
Do not identify the phone by its name alone. Confirm the listing or device details specify the 4G model and Helio G99-Ultra; the M6 Pro 5G is a different device with different hardware. POCO’s official specifications list the global 4G model’s network, camera and storage details.
For an import or marketplace listing, verify the model number, LTE-band compatibility, local warranty and return policy, firmware region, Google Play certification, charger plug and inclusion, and whether the phone is new, refurbished or resealed. NFC availability can also vary by market. Do not assume a seller’s “M6 Pro” title answers these questions.
Is it a better buy than newer alternatives?
Start with the actual price of the exact configuration and condition, not an old launch offer. The UK launch promotion once listed the 12GB/512GB M6 Pro at £249; Notebookcheck listed US$219.99 in March 2024. Both are historical prices, not current quotes. If the M6 Pro 4G costs close to a newer 5G phone, the newer model is usually the safer choice for network longevity and support. The POCO X6 Pro 5G, for example, offers a much stronger performance platform, 5G, 4K video recording, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. It may cost more, and the M6 Pro retains useful features such as its headphone jack and microSD expansion, so compare the exact market versions and prices.
A newer Redmi or other budget 5G model may deliver newer connectivity while giving up some combination of AMOLED quality, charging speed, expandable storage or a headphone jack. Samsung alternatives may appeal to buyers prioritizing a clearer support and resale proposition, though their charging speed or performance per unit of price may differ. Compare local warranty, support terms and full feature sets; no model is automatically the better value in every market.
Use this test: the M6 Pro makes sense when its verified price is substantially lower than newer 5G alternatives and you specifically value its screen, charging, headphone jack, NFC or microSD slot. If the price gap is small, pay for the newer hardware instead.

Who should buy the POCO M6 Pro 4G?
- Consider it new or clearance stock if the discount is compelling, the regional warranty is valid and the box includes the right charger.
- Consider it used or refurbished only after checking battery condition, screen, cameras, USB port, SIM tray, charging and return protection. A low price does not offset a failing battery or uncertain warranty.
- Skip it for gaming or long ownership if you expect demanding games, 5G, 4K video or a clearly documented multi-year update commitment.
- Skip an import you cannot verify if the LTE bands, firmware, NFC, warranty or return route are unclear.
