The Pixel 10 series’ reported colors surfaced in a June 2025 leak, while Google separately released Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1, a minor bug-fix update for enrolled Pixel devices. The color names were not an official confirmation; the beta release was. Both developments are now historical: Google’s Android 16 program moved on to later QPR builds.
Pixel 10 colors: what the leak reported
A June 2025 report attributed to Android Headlines listed different finishes for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro models and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These were reported colors, not verified specifications from Google. The contemporary coverage also said Google was expected to unveil the phones at its August 20, 2025 Made by Google event.

The leak described Ultra Blue as a saturated blue reportedly reserved for the standard Pixel 10; Limoncello as a yellow-green or yellow; Iris as purple; Midnight as dark gray; Sterling Gray as lighter than Midnight; Light Porcelain as off-white; and Smoky Green as a darker green. Those are approximate visual descriptions, not precise color specifications. No verified color codes, material details or finish data accompany them.
Do not treat the list as proof that every shade was sold in every market or configuration. Regional inventory, carrier offerings and final marketing names can differ, and the available leak does not establish those details. In particular, calling Midnight a replacement for Obsidian is an interpretation, not evidence that the finishes or materials are the same.

What Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 changed
Unlike the color report, Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 was an official Google software release. Google published it on June 4, 2025, as build BP31.250502.008.A1, with the May 2025 security patch and Google Play services version 25.13.33. It was a small update to the first QPR1 beta, not a new major Android version. Google’s release notes list the build details and fixes.
The fixes addressed several practical problems: navigation buttons could stop responding in the app drawer or task switcher; lock-screen media progress could show the wrong position; wallpaper effects and the battery page in Settings could crash; and the date could be cut off with a wide lock-screen clock or fail to appear on the home screen. Google also fixed incorrect search-button coloring while scrolling, a missing approval button in Device Admin settings, hard-to-read dark album labels in the photo picker’s dark mode, and fingerprint-authentication failures on multi-user devices in certain low-power conditions.

Which phones were eligible at the time?
Google’s QPR1 documentation listed Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, 6a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, 8a, Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL and 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel 9a. The Pixel 10 series had not yet launched when Beta 1.1 came out, so it should not be added retroactively to that original eligibility list. Later Android 16 builds supporting newer phones are a separate matter. See Google’s QPR installation guidance and later QPR release notes.
Should you install an Android beta?
A beta is mainly for developers checking app compatibility and enthusiasts who can tolerate bugs, ideally with a spare phone available. It is a poor choice for a primary device if you depend on banking, work, medical, accessibility, or authentication apps. Google warns that QPR beta software can have stability, battery-life and performance problems, may not pass Compatibility Test Suite requirements, and can affect apps that rely on Play Integrity or related checks. Back up important data before enrolling.

Beta 1.1 itself is no longer the current Android 16 beta milestone. As of August 18, 2026, Google’s documentation records later QPR1 builds, including Beta 3.1, and subsequent QPR releases. Check the current release notes and program page rather than seeking out this historical build as though it were the latest: Android 16 QPR release notes.
How enrolled Pixel owners received the OTA
- Enroll an eligible device in the Android Beta for Pixel program.
- On the phone, open Settings → System → Software updates.
- Check for the offered update, then download and install it; restart if prompted.
Menu wording can vary slightly by device or software version. If no update appears, first confirm that the model is eligible for the specific release and that it is enrolled, then check again later; OTAs may roll out progressively. Consult Google’s current documentation before attempting a manual installation. The OTA image instructions and factory image guidance are intended for users who understand the device-specific steps. Unlocking the bootloader to flash an image erases user data.

Plan the exit before joining
Leaving a beta can offer a downgrade update that wipes the phone, depending on the program stage and which stable build is available. Back up first and check Google’s current opt-out instructions before unenrolling; do not assume a no-wipe exit. For users who cannot risk downtime or data loss, staying on stable software is the safer choice.
The two June 2025 stories were concurrent, not technically connected: the Pixel 10 item concerned an unconfirmed hardware-color leak, while QPR1 Beta 1.1 was a software update for then-supported Pixel devices. The beta did not confirm the leaked colors, and the leak did not make the beta suitable for every owner.
