Yes, the Pip-Boy 3000 is real—but it is not a conventional smartwatch. The Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Replica is an officially licensed, 1:1-scale prop made by The Wand Company for Bethesda. It recreates the arm-mounted computer seen in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, and works as a timepiece, alarm, FM radio, LED flashlight, display clock and interactive Fallout-themed device.
That combination makes it an impressive collector’s piece and cosplay prop. Its roughly 724-gram weight, large forearm cuff and lack of phone connectivity also make it a poor replacement for a modern smartwatch.
What the Pip-Boy 3000 replica actually is
In Fallout, the Pip-Boy is a fictional personal information processor strapped to the player character’s forearm. Earlier merchandise included simpler Pip-Boy clocks and props, but The Wand Company’s current product belongs to a different category: a licensed, interactive replica with a screen, physical controls, rechargeable battery and working electronics.
The official name is Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Replica. It is based on the classic game design from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, not the visually different Pip-Boy Mk V from the television series. Bethesda lists it through its Gear Store, while The Wand Company manufactures it.

Build, materials and size
The front housing uses die-cast metal, with an injection-molded ABS body, a foam-lined cuff and metal or molded physical controls. Its clear screen is made from Tritan, and the included display stand is machined aluminum.

The weight is part of the authenticity. It gives the replica the heft collectors expect from a premium prop, but it also means this is much bulkier than ordinary wristwear.

Clock and alarm
The Pip-Boy displays the time and includes an alarm function. On your arm, the clock is presented through its Pip-Boy interface. On the stand, the same unit becomes a desk or nightstand clock. It is therefore a wearable timepiece and a display clock, not two separate devices.
The clock is useful for ordinary timekeeping, but the reason to buy it is the Fallout presentation rather than specialist horological accuracy.
Fallout menus and status screens
The LCD presents Fallout-inspired status, statistics, items and data screens. The official manual describes more than 40 screens and thousands of menu entries across modes inspired by Fallout 3 and New Vegas. A static illuminated radiation meter adds to the game-like appearance.
Navigation is deliberately mechanical. You use buttons labelled STATS, ITEMS and DATA, a page selector, scroll wheel and thumbwheel rather than a smartphone-style touchscreen. The menus are stored locally: the device does not display your game save or connect to a Fallout title.
Atomic Command
The built-in Atomic Command minigame is one of the clearest differences between this replica and a basic novelty clock. It is a self-contained game for the device, not a portable version of Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4 or Fallout 76.
FM radio
The replica has a working FM radio and a two-watt speaker. Rotate the side selector to RADIO, press the left rotary control, then turn the tuning control to seek stations. Pressing the tuning knob can play an in-universe broadcast associated with the fictional KPSS station.

The charging dongle acts as the antenna. Connecting the USB cable can improve reception in areas with weak signals. FM performance still depends on local signal conditions; this is not an internet radio, Bluetooth speaker or streaming player.
LED flashlight
A bright LED flashlight is built into the prop. It is a useful novelty feature for finding something in a dark room, but it should not be treated as a replacement for a dedicated outdoor or emergency light.

Yes, in the literal sense. It opens around the wearer’s left forearm, uses a padded cuff and closes with a locking catch. A spacer bar is included to increase the cuff diameter for different arm sizes.
The manual recommends sitting down, placing the opened unit on a soft surface, inserting the left forearm and closing the cuff carefully so the arm is not pinched. Measure your forearm and consider its shape before ordering: the spacer expands the fit range, but it cannot guarantee comfort for every wearer.
At approximately 724 g, the Pip-Boy is heavy compared with a normal watch. Short cosplay sessions, conventions, photography and display are more realistic use cases than all-day wear. Limited hand mobility, a particularly thick forearm or an unusual wrist-to-forearm shape may make fitting and removal difficult.
First-use and charging instructions
- Charge the unit for about five hours before first use.
- Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the rear charging socket and a suitable 5V USB outlet.
- Four indicators beneath the screen pulse orange while charging and remain steadily illuminated when full.
- Keep the cable and manual with the replica; both are useful for long-term ownership.
The official documentation does not give one universal operating-time figure. Screen brightness, radio volume, flashlight use and standby behaviour all affect battery life. The manual recommends charging approximately every six months during storage to help maintain the rechargeable cell. It does not establish a consumer-replaceable battery procedure, so long-term battery ageing is worth considering before purchase.

Pip-Boy 3000 versus the television-series Pip-Boy
Bethesda sells a separate die-cast replica based on the Amazon Fallout television series. That model represents the show’s Pip-Boy Mk V and should not be confused with this game-based Pip-Boy 3000.

Choose by the Fallout era you want, not simply by price. The TV replica is not a cheaper version of the same design.

Price and availability
The official U.S. Bethesda Gear Store lists the Pip-Boy 3000 Replica at $299.99. The individual product page was marked out of stock when checked in September 2026, with a back-in-stock notification option. International Bethesda storefronts have shown prices around $349–$353 in U.S.-currency listings and have also shown the product out of stock. Taxes, shipping and currency conversion can account for regional differences.

Storefront labels have not always been consistent: a collection page can show a listing or preorder label while the individual regional product page says out of stock. Check the product page for your country immediately before ordering. Do not treat older estimated 2026 shipping windows as a current restock promise.
The international store has also displayed an item-only ordering restriction, meaning the Pip-Boy may need to be purchased in a separate order. Secondary-market listings may cost more and can carry uncertain warranty coverage, missing accessories or battery-storage risks.

Is it a smartwatch?
No. There is no documented support for smartphone notifications, cellular service, GPS, fitness or health sensors, app installation, touchscreen phone integration or general-purpose web access. “Wearable watch” means that it tells time while worn on the forearm; it does not mean smartwatch connectivity.

Who should buy it?
- Fallout 3 or New Vegas collector: A strong match for the classic Pip-Boy design and physical controls.
- Cosplayer or convention attendee: The screen, weight and working features create a more convincing prop than a static shell, although the mass may cause fatigue.
- Themed-room or desk-display buyer: The aluminum stand makes the replica useful even when it is not being worn.
- Practical smartwatch buyer: Skip it. It lacks the connected features that justify a modern smartwatch.
- TV-series fan: Compare the separate Mk V replica instead of assuming the Pip-Boy 3000 is the show version.
Alternatives
The Fallout Series Pip-Boy Die-Cast Replica is the official option for fans of the television design. Older Fallout 3 Survival Edition clocks are historical collector items rather than equivalent current products. Fan-made and 3D-printed replicas can be cheaper or more customizable, but they vary in licensing, electronics, finish, reliability and safety.
Verdict
The Pip-Boy 3000 Replica succeeds because it treats the fictional device as a physical experience. It has the scale, metal weight, mechanical controls, LCD interface, radio, flashlight, alarm, stand and Atomic Command game that distinguish a premium interactive prop from a Fallout-themed clock.
It is worth considering at $299.99 primarily if authenticity, display quality and the Fallout 3/New Vegas design matter to you. It is not worth buying as a smartwatch substitute, lightweight everyday watch or guaranteed practical radio. Think of it as a bridge between licensed merchandise, cosplay prop, interactive toy and desk clock—and its strengths and inconveniences make sense in that category.
