The Phanteks XT M3 is a compact Micro-ATX tower with unusually generous component clearance: CPU air coolers up to 175 mm tall and graphics cards up to 430 mm long. The crucial qualification is that the 430 mm GPU figure applies without front fans installed. Phanteks lists 405 mm for the XT M3 M25 configuration with its front fans installed. GPU width, thickness, power-cable space, radiator hardware and the exact case variant still determine whether a particular build fits.

How much GPU clearance does the XT M3 really have?
| Configuration | Maximum listed GPU length |
|---|---|
| XT M3 without front fans | 430 mm |
| XT M3 M25 with front fans installed | 405 mm |
| GPU width clearance | 175 mm |
The fanless figure is the one most likely to be misread. A 430 mm card can use that space only when front fans are not installed. The XT M3 M25 listing, which includes three M25-120 Gen1 fans, specifies 405 mm with front fans installed. Front radiators, their fans, mounting brackets and any other hardware occupy the same space, so measure the actual assembly rather than subtracting a nominal number from 430 mm.
Check four separate GPU dimensions
- Length: the card’s end-to-end measurement, including any rear or front protrusions.
- Width: Phanteks lists 175 mm; this is a physical maximum, not a promise of generous airflow or connector clearance.
- Thickness: a card occupying three or four slots can conflict with adjacent hardware even when its length is acceptable.
- Power-cable clearance: high-power connectors need room for a safe bend and should not be forced against the side panel or front hardware.
That is why a 330 mm graphics card can still be unsuitable if it is exceptionally wide or thick. Independent testing also cautions that some bulky RTX 4090- and RTX 5090-class designs can exceed the practical width clearance even when their length works; treat those cards as examples to measure individually, not as a universal compatibility verdict. See the ALKTech XT M3 review.

Will a 175 mm CPU cooler fit?
Phanteks rates the XT M3 for air coolers up to 175 mm tall. Compare the exact cooler manufacturer’s height with that number; a product name such as “dual tower” is not a dimension. A cooler exactly 175 mm tall leaves essentially no tolerance for side-panel interference, installation variation or measurement differences, so leaving several millimetres of headroom is a sensible buying practice.
- Check the cooler’s RAM-clearance specification, not just its overall height.
- A front fan raised over tall DIMMs increases the cooler’s effective height.
- Large heatsinks can make access to the first PCIe slot, motherboard power connectors or memory slots awkward.
- Install the cooler, memory and difficult motherboard cables in an order that leaves room before fitting the GPU.
Liquid cooling avoids the tower-height limit, but a top radiator introduces its own motherboard, memory and tubing-clearance checks.
Cooling layout and radiator limits
The XT M3 provides nine 120 mm fan positions: three at the top, two at the front, one at the rear and three at the bottom. The bottom positions can feed fresh air directly toward the graphics card, while the top positions can exhaust air or accommodate a radiator. Phanteks specifies 120 mm positions; do not assume 140 mm compatibility from the layout.
Top 360 mm radiator
A top radiator up to 360 mm is supported, with a stated maximum envelope of 410 × 122 × 60 mm. Treat that 60 mm figure as the specified installation envelope for the radiator-and-fan assembly unless the manual defines it differently, not automatically as a 60 mm radiator thickness.
Before buying an all-in-one cooler, verify the combined radiator and fan thickness against the envelope and check:

- Meshed Front Panel: ATX PC Case features a mesh front panel for efficient airflow and optimal cooling performance for PC components
- Tempered Glass Design: The chassis features tempered glass side panels, providing a comfortable visual experience while showcasing your hardware and personalised style
- Type-C Ready: Stay in the know with this Type-C Ready Black PC Case that features the latest connectivity options for all of your computing needs
- Magnetic Dust Filter: The magnetic dust filters are mounted separately on the top and bottom of the chassis to prevent dust from entering the interior of the chassis
- Compatibility: Supports up to 8 x 120 mm fans and 1 x 360 mm radiator on front. Supports ATX, M-ATX, ITX motherboard and 50 series graphics cards. Supports up to 340 mm GPU in Length and 200 mm PSU in Length
- motherboard VRM-heatsink height;
- RAM height and slot position;
- pump/block orientation and tube routing;
- whether the radiator extends into the front or motherboard clearance zone.
A 360 mm radiator can therefore be officially supported yet incompatible with a particularly thick radiator, tall memory or oversized motherboard heatsinks.
Practical airflow choices
A balanced layout is usually more useful than filling every position: front and bottom intake paired with rear and top exhaust is a reasonable starting arrangement, then adjust fan curves for noise and dust pressure. Adding all nine fans is optional and does not automatically produce the best acoustics.
PSU, motherboard and expansion compatibility
Power supply
The PSU limit is 150 mm in length. This excludes some physically long, high-wattage ATX units. Check the PSU body length, modular-connector location and cable-exit direction; a unit that fits as a bare measurement can still leave too little room for modular plugs and bends beside a long GPU.

The case supports Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX boards and has four horizontal expansion slots. Phanteks does not list vertical GPU support. Rear-connect motherboard compatibility should be checked against the exact XT M3 model’s current product listing rather than assumed for every SKU.
Form-factor support is only the starting point. M.2 heatsinks, rear connectors, DIMM placement, VRM heatsinks and the location of the first PCIe slot can affect the complete build.

Storage, front I/O and included accessories
There are mounts for two internal 2.5-inch drives and one internal 3.5-inch drive. The fanless product page lists pre-installed SSD and HDD brackets, nine zip ties, a standoff-removal tool and a GPU support bracket. Builders using mostly M.2 storage may not need the bays; systems with several SATA hard drives will find the capacity limited.
Front I/O consists of one USB 3.0 port, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 port, a combined microphone/headphone jack and the power button. The USB-C specification is the one Phanteks gives on its product listing and should be confirmed for the exact regional retail SKU.

A reliable compatibility check before buying
- Identify the exact case variant. Use 430 mm only for the fanless condition; use 405 mm for the M25 configuration with its front fans.
- Record the GPU’s full dimensions. Check length, total width, slot thickness and connector position from the card manufacturer.
- Account for front hardware. Include fan, radiator, bracket and cable-clearance space rather than measuring to an empty chassis.
- Check the CPU cooler. Keep its stated height below 175 mm and verify memory clearance, including any raised front fan.
- Inspect the motherboard layout. Confirm PCIe-slot, DIMM, VRM-heatsink and rear-connector clearances for the specific board.
- Measure the PSU. Keep the body at or below 150 mm and reserve space for modular cables.
- Measure the radiator assembly. Compare radiator plus fans with the 410 × 122 × 60 mm top envelope and check tubing paths.
- Plan installation order. Fit radiator hardware, motherboard power cables and other awkward connections before the GPU or cooler blocks access; use the official manual.
Who is the XT M3 a good fit for?
Strong matches
- High-performance Micro-ATX gaming systems using long but not excessively wide graphics cards.
- Builders wanting a 175 mm air-cooler ceiling in a smaller-than-ATX tower.
- Systems benefiting from bottom GPU intake and a top 360 mm radiator option.
- Users choosing between a fanless chassis and an M25 package with included fans.
Reasons to choose another case
- Your graphics card exceeds 175 mm in width or needs unusually large cable-bend space.
- You require a PSU longer than 150 mm.
- You need several 3.5-inch drives, vertical GPU mounting or a full-size ATX motherboard.
- You expect a 430 mm GPU to coexist with front fans.
- Your radiator-and-fan stack is unusually thick or your board has tall heatsinks and memory that crowd the top mount.
Verdict
The XT M3 is a high-clearance compact Micro-ATX case, but its headline numbers need conditions attached. It can take a 175 mm-class CPU cooler and a GPU up to 430 mm only without front fans; the M25 version lists 405 mm with its front fans installed. Check width, thickness, cables, PSU length and the complete radiator assembly before ordering. If those measurements work, the nine 120 mm positions, bottom GPU airflow and four expansion slots make the XT M3 unusually flexible for its footprint.
