The Oppo Reno5 5G is a December 2020 midrange phone with a 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and 65W wired charging. Its screen, light build and fast charging still have appeal, but its official specification page lists Android 11, its storage cannot be expanded, and the condition of any used battery matters. In 2026, it makes the most sense to keep using one you already own or consider a very inexpensive, tested local unit—not to buy an import blindly, especially in the United States.
The global model is CPH2145. Confirm that number before comparing specifications or buying: the Reno5 4G, Reno5 Pro 5G, Reno5 Z 5G and regional Chinese versions are different phones.

Oppo’s global Reno5 5G specifications are the best reference for the CPH2145. Regional versions can differ, so do not assume the table describes every phone advertised under a similar name.

Reno5 5G is not the same as every Reno5
Several related phones appeared around the same generation, and abbreviated marketplace listings can blur them together:

The Reno5 5G was launched in December 2020, though the announcement, first sale and local availability did not necessarily fall on the same date in every country. Gadgets 360 lists December 10, 2020, as a release date and notes that it was not launched in India; that is a market-specific detail, not a universal availability date. Gadgets 360’s listing provides that market context.
Display and design: still appealing, with used-screen caveats
The 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel and 90Hz refresh rate are among the phone’s strongest features. The display is relatively compact by the standards of many large current phones, and the higher refresh rate can make scrolling and animations feel smoother than on a 60Hz screen. The in-display fingerprint reader keeps the exterior clean, while the body is about 7.9mm thick and notably light at roughly 172g or 180g depending on finish.
It is still a conventional 90Hz panel, not a modern adaptive LTPO display. A listed brightness figure does not establish how well a five-year-old phone performs outdoors, and wear varies by device. Before buying used, inspect the screen on solid light and dark backgrounds for burn-in, scratches, dead pixels and touch problems; test the fingerprint reader as well.
Oppo also warns that an unsuitable screen protector or film over the concealed proximity-sensor area may interfere with calls. If the display does not turn off when the phone is held to your ear—or wakes unexpectedly—check the protector and sensor area before assuming the phone has a more serious fault. Performance and storage in 2026
The Snapdragon 765G was a capable upper-midrange 5G processor when the phone launched. In ordinary use, it can still handle messaging, browsing, maps, video streaming and routine photography, and 8GB of RAM helps with everyday multitasking. It is not a current-generation chip, however: demanding games, heavy workloads and sustained camera processing are less comfortable targets than they would be on a newer phone. Do not treat old launch positioning as a guarantee of current performance.
The fixed 128GB capacity may be a more immediate constraint. Oppo says external memory is not supported, so there is no microSD card option for adding room. Large games, downloaded video and photo libraries can fill it quickly. A technical specification sheet also identifies the Snapdragon 765G and related hardware, but the available evidence does not establish a controlled 2026 performance comparison. Technical datasheet.
Cameras: useful variety, but four rear cameras do not mean four major strengths
The rear array pairs a 64MP main camera with an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP auxiliary camera. The front camera is 32MP. Oppo promoted video tools including AI Highlight Video, Ultra Night Video, Live HDR, Dual-View Video and Ultra Steady Video. These are advertised capabilities, not proof that the Reno5 5G matches newer phones in low-light detail, dynamic range, stabilization or autofocus.
For a used phone, judge each camera directly: take daylight and indoor shots, switch between the main and ultrawide lenses, check focus at near and far distances, test flash, record video and listen to the microphone audio. The ultrawide adds a genuinely different field of view; the two 2MP auxiliary cameras are modest supporting hardware rather than compelling reasons to buy the phone. The camera resolutions and modes are documented by Oppo’s specifications and its regional product page.

Battery and 65W charging
The Reno5 5G has a 4300mAh typical-capacity battery and supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. Oppo advertised charging to about 60% in 15 minutes and a full charge in as little as 35 minutes under its test conditions. Those figures describe the company’s charging claim—not a guaranteed result for every charger, temperature or battery, and especially not for a used phone that has aged since 2020.
To get the fastest charging behavior, the phone needs a compatible SuperVOOC charger and cable. A standard USB-C charger may work but charge more slowly. Heat, active use while charging, background activity, cable condition and battery health can all affect speed. When inspecting a used unit, check that the port is secure and test charging with a known-compatible setup; rapid drain or erratic charging can erase the appeal of the headline wattage. Oppo’s charging claims should be read in that context.
Software and update uncertainty
Oppo’s global specification page lists ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11. The available official source does not establish a later global software version or a current security-patch commitment for the CPH2145. That does not prove every unit is still on its original software—updates can vary by country and build—but buyers should not assume a particular upgrade or patch level.
On the actual phone, check Settings → About device for the installed Android/ColorOS version and security update date. App compatibility may remain adequate for many everyday uses, but future app support, banking or enterprise checks, DRM behavior and device-integrity results can vary. Chinese-market firmware may also differ from global software in Google services, languages and update channels. If current security updates are essential, choose a newer model with a clear support policy instead of relying on an unverified update history.

Will an imported Reno5 5G work in the United States?
Do not assume so from “5G unlocked” in a listing. The global CPH2145 specification includes LTE bands such as B2, B4, B12, B17 and B66, and 5G bands including n1, n3, n7, n28, n41, n77 and n78. That list is useful, but band overlap alone does not guarantee registration, reliable calls or 5G service on a US carrier.
Carrier approval, VoLTE provisioning, firmware, plan and SIM requirements all matter. A Chinese-market version may have different bands and configurations from CPH2145; a listing’s use of “unlocked” does not resolve that. Before paying, obtain the exact model number, IMEI, region and firmware details, then ask the carrier to confirm compatibility for that particular device. Check that the seller accepts returns if service does not work. The global bands above apply to the global model, not every Reno5 5G variant; see Oppo’s band listing and do not substitute an informal compatibility claim for carrier confirmation.
Dual SIM, NFC and other practical details
The global specification lists two Nano-SIM slots, NFC, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Dual-SIM support should not be confused with simultaneous 5G on both lines: Oppo’s band information assigns the listed 5G capability to the primary SIM, while SIM 2 is listed for 2G, 3G and 4G bands. Feature availability can differ by region, so confirm NFC and SIM behavior on the exact unit rather than relying on a generic listing.

Because the Reno5 5G is an older phone and most buying opportunities are used or imported, inspect the individual device—not just its advertised specification.

- Confirm identity: ask for a clear photo of Settings → About device or the box label showing the model number. For the global Reno5 5G, look for CPH2145.
- Check software: inspect Android/ColorOS version and security-patch date, and confirm the phone is not tied to another person’s account after a reset.
- Test battery and charging: observe drain during normal use, check the USB-C port for looseness and test with a compatible SuperVOOC charger if available. A single quick charge test cannot prove long-term battery health.
- Inspect the display: look for AMOLED burn-in, dead pixels, scratches and touch dead zones; test the fingerprint reader and proximity behavior during a call.
- Test connectivity: try both SIM slots, calls and mobile data on the intended network, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC if you need them. In the US, confirm with the carrier before purchase.
- Check cameras and audio: test autofocus, flash, front camera, video, microphones, earpiece and loudspeaker.
- Protect yourself as a buyer: verify the IMEI and blacklist status, make sure the seller can remove prior accounts, and get a clear return policy.
These are sensible checks for a used device, not a claim that every phone will have a fault. Marketplace offers can change or disappear; an import listing or a used/global-unlocked listing is not a reliable measure of current market value or proof of network compatibility.
Should you buy the Oppo Reno5 5G in 2026?
Consider it only if the price is low enough to reflect its age, the phone is in good condition, and the exact model works on your network. Its AMOLED screen, light build, 90Hz refresh rate, headphone jack, dual-SIM option and fast charging remain useful. Its counterweights are old software, uncertain patch status, a five-year-old battery in many used examples, fixed 128GB storage and a processor several generations behind current phones.
There is no dependable current price in the cited sources. Oppo’s regional legacy page displays an “available from $699” message, but that is not a verified 2026 street price and should not be used as a buying benchmark. Oppo’s page is useful for product context, not current valuation. A newer Reno or another officially supported midrange phone may cost more upfront, but can offer a healthier battery, longer remaining support and a more straightforward warranty. Oppo’s Reno15 5G page is a current-family reference, not a region-independent recommendation; check local availability and terms.
