OPPO announced LUMO, its branded imaging system, on April 2, 2025. Eight days later, it introduced the Find X8 Ultra, Find X8s and Find X8s+ as the first Find X models to carry the name. LUMO is not a separate camera company or a single sensor: it is OPPO’s umbrella for imaging hardware and processing. The distinction matters because the Find X8 Ultra showcases features that OPPO does not list for the X8s phones.
What is OPPO LUMO?
OPPO describes LUMO 凝光影像 as an imaging technology brand built around optical design and computational photography. Its stated scope includes light capture, image processing, color, depth effects and HDR presentation. OPPO identifies three building blocks: a light-sensitive computational optical system, a digital imaging engine, and a full-chain ProXDR color and HDR system.
In practical terms, LUMO is a branded imaging stack rather than a standalone camera, lens, processor or app. Its name alone does not tell you which sensor or lens a phone has, or whether it includes every processing feature OPPO associates with the system. Compare the individual model’s hardware and software instead.

What OPPO means by “environment portraits”
OPPO’s LUMO announcement puts particular emphasis on “environment portraits”: pictures intended to show both the person and the place around them, rather than making the subject stand apart through heavy simulated background blur. The company says it aims for clear subjects, natural-looking emotion, vivid color and a sense of depth. That is OPPO’s product philosophy and marketing terminology, not a standardized photography category or an independently verified performance result.

The Find X8 Ultra is the LUMO showcase
OPPO presented the Find X8 Ultra as the series’ most advanced LUMO camera phone. Its announcement highlights claimed 15mm–135mm optical coverage, a 23mm main camera with a one-inch-type sensor, a 15mm f/2.0 ultrawide, a 135mm long telephoto and a dedicated 70mm f/2.1 portrait camera. It also names a “Danyan” color camera for skin tones and mixed lighting, computational optical bokeh, and ProXDR processing spanning capture, display, editing and sharing.
These are features OPPO attributes to the Ultra; they should not be assumed to apply to the X8s or X8s+. Nor does HDR support guarantee the same appearance everywhere: the display, file format, editing app and sharing service all affect whether ProXDR benefits survive. OPPO specifically discussed integration with Xiaohongshu, not universal compatibility across platforms.

What the Find X8s cameras offer
The official Find X8s specifications list three 50-megapixel rear cameras with distinct fields of view:

- 85mm telephoto, f/2.8: a tighter view suited to portraits and more distant subjects, with two-axis optical image stabilization.
OPPO also advertises a portrait zoom range from 1× to 3.5×, Hasselblad portrait modes, AI reflection removal, AI motion-blur removal and unwanted-person removal. These are software-assisted tools, not a guarantee that every reflection or blur can be removed cleanly in every image. OPPO lists rear and front video recording up to 4K at 60 frames per second and a 32-megapixel front camera.

The X8s is a compact flagship on paper: a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh, a weight of about 179g, MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, a 5,700mAh typical-capacity battery, 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Official listed memory/storage configurations range from 12GB/256GB to 16GB/1TB. The China-store listing specifies USB 2.0 data transfer, which may matter when moving large video files.

The Find X8s+ product page positions the plus model as the larger-screen, larger-battery option. The X8s is the one to consider if a smaller, lighter body matters more. Neither model should be treated as having the Ultra’s dedicated 70mm portrait camera or other Ultra-specific features.

How LUMO and Hasselblad fit together
The Find X8s product material uses both names. LUMO refers to OPPO’s imaging system and the way imaging hardware and processing are brought together. Hasselblad branding appears in the portrait experience and modes. The presence of Hasselblad features does not establish that Hasselblad designed the complete LUMO system.
What the LUMO name does—and does not—tell you
The potential value of an integrated imaging stack is that lenses, sensors, processing, color and display behavior can be designed to work together. But a brand label cannot substitute for model-level evidence. Megapixels alone do not establish image quality: sensor size, lens design, stabilization, focal-length coverage and processing all matter. OPPO’s claims about night photography, portrait quality or optical-like bokeh remain manufacturer claims here, not independent test conclusions.

For the X8s, the concrete case is a relatively compact phone with dedicated main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras, plus portrait and AI editing features. Buyers who want the most distinctive hardware OPPO associated with LUMO should look at the Ultra’s feature list specifically, rather than infer it from the shared branding.
Availability and importing caveats
The official product and store pages cited here are China-market listings. The reviewed material does not establish US retail availability, a US warranty, US carrier compatibility or a US price. Do not treat an import-site listing as proof that the Find X8s or X8s+ is officially sold in the United States.
Before importing a China-market phone, verify the exact model’s supported bands with your carrier and check warranty and repair options in your country. Also confirm the software language and services you rely on, including Google services, payment apps and notifications. Those details can vary by device software, region and carrier; the available product information does not settle them for every buyer.

Timeline
- April 2, 2025: OPPO announced LUMO in China.
- April 10, 2025: OPPO introduced the Find X8 Ultra, Find X8s and Find X8s+ at its Find X-series event in Xi’an.
An April 1 report had described the planned announcement before OPPO confirmed it. The official April 2 announcement resolved that uncertainty; the announcement date and the later phone launch event are separate milestones.
