The Xiaomi 15 is the safer overall choice for most international buyers. The Oppo Find X8s+ is the more ambitious hardware package, with a larger battery, longer telephoto lens, bigger display, and IP69 protection. Choose Oppo if those advantages matter more than import and software uncertainty; choose Xiaomi if you want a smaller phone with broader international practicality.

These are not identical phones disguised as direct rivals. The Xiaomi 15 is a genuinely compact flagship. The Find X8s+ is a larger “Plus” model with a substantially bigger battery. Be careful with comparison pages that list the regular Find X8s: its reported 6.32-inch display and 5,700mAh battery should not be substituted for the official Find X8s+ specifications.
Design and handling
The Xiaomi 15 is the better one-hand phone. Its 6.36-inch display and listed 191g weight make it easier to carry and operate than the Oppo, which is approximately 198g and 7.95mm thick.

It uses a glass front and rear with an aluminium frame, narrow 1.45mm bezels, and official IP69/IP68 dust and water-resistance ratings. Its magnetic accessory features require a compatible case, sold separately.

Xiaomi’s ultrasonic fingerprint reader is a useful everyday advantage. Oppo counters with a programmable physical shortcut key for functions such as the camera, flashlight, recording, translation, notes and screenshots.
Displays: bigger Oppo, brighter Xiaomi on paper
The Oppo has the more immersive screen: a flat 6.59-inch 1.5K panel with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. Oppo also claims 1,600 nits of global peak brightness and 3,840Hz PWM dimming under specified low-brightness conditions.
The Xiaomi 15 uses a smaller 6.36-inch 120Hz Xiaomi-custom M9 panel. Xiaomi claims up to 3,200 nits of ultra-peak brightness across 25% of the display area, and its adaptive always-on display can drop to 1Hz.

The fair conclusion is narrower: Xiaomi has the stronger outdoor brightness specification on paper, while Oppo gives you more screen area.

Performance and gaming
The Find X8s+ uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+, while the Xiaomi 15 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. Both are flagship platforms, but the available specifications do not establish a controlled head-to-head benchmark or thermal test.
Oppo describes the Dimensity 9400+ as a second-generation 3nm chip with a maximum CPU frequency of 3.73GHz and emphasizes cooling, sustained performance and gaming stability. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
Xiaomi highlights the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 3nm design, Qualcomm Oryon CPU and performance gains over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Those comparisons are not direct Find X8s+-versus-Xiaomi-15 results.
For ordinary apps, both should be fast. The Xiaomi is the safer recommendation for buyers who depend on Qualcomm-specific game compatibility, emulation or broader developer familiarity. The Oppo could be preferable for sustained gaming if its cooling and power tuning perform as advertised, but that cannot be declared without comparable testing.

The Oppo is the more convincing choice for portraits and distant subjects. Its 73mm-equivalent periscope camera provides more useful optical reach than Xiaomi’s 60mm floating telephoto.
The Xiaomi has the stronger main-camera specification: its larger listed sensor, wider aperture and OIS should give it a strong foundation for low-light photography and subject separation. That is not proof that it will produce better photos in every scene; processing, autofocus, HDR, lens switching and motion handling still matter.
Both phones offer 50MP ultrawide cameras, but their stated fields of view are not directly comparable in a simple megapixel contest: Oppo lists 15mm and 120 degrees, while Xiaomi lists 14mm and 115 degrees. Independent testing would be needed to judge skin tones, night portraits, moving subjects, stabilization, front-camera video and Hasselblad-versus-Leica processing.

Battery and charging
This is the Oppo’s clearest hardware advantage. It has a 6,000mAh typical battery and 5,850mAh rated capacity, compared with the Xiaomi 15’s 5,240mAh typical capacity. That is a 760mAh difference, or approximately 14.5% more stated capacity for Oppo.

The Xiaomi charges faster on paper at 90W wired versus 80W for Oppo. Both advertise 50W wireless charging, but compatible proprietary chargers or charging sets may be required.
Capacity does not guarantee longer real-world endurance. Display size, modem behaviour, network conditions, thermals, software and regional firmware all affect battery life. Oppo claims up to 23 hours of continuous video playback in laboratory testing; Xiaomi claims up to 25 hours under its own internal conditions. Those figures are not directly comparable independent tests.
Xiaomi also says the battery retains approximately 80% capacity after 1,600 charging cycles under its stated test conditions. Treat that as a manufacturer durability claim rather than a guarantee for every user.
Software and the import question
This is where the Xiaomi 15 becomes the safer recommendation. Xiaomi has an official global product page, although exact bands, storage, warranty, pricing and features remain region-dependent. The cited Oppo product page is China-market, so an overseas Find X8s+ should be treated as an import unless the seller proves otherwise.

Before buying the Oppo, confirm all of the following:
- Whether the phone has an official China ROM, an official regional ROM or a modified seller ROM
- Google Play installation and certification
- Android Auto compatibility
- Banking, streaming and DRM-app support
- Notification reliability and Chinese-only system applications
- LTE and 5G band compatibility with your carrier
- OTA update behaviour and bootloader restrictions
- Warranty, repair and return arrangements
- Charger plug, charging standards and included accessories
- eSIM availability, if you need it on the exact model
ColorOS 15 features, AI functions, interfaces and availability can vary by region and software version. The same warning applies to Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 and its AI features, whose availability varies by device, country and language. A China-market Oppo is not automatically unusable, but the exact ROM and seller configuration determine the experience.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Oppo Find X8s+ if you want:
- The largest battery and a large but not Ultra-sized display
- Long-range portraits and more telephoto reach
- Official IP69/IP68 protection
- A magnetic accessory system and programmable shortcut key
- A China-market import and its associated software and warranty checks
Choose the Xiaomi 15 if you want:
- A smaller, lighter flagship that is easier to use one-handed
- Snapdragon-based gaming, emulation or compatibility confidence
- A strong main-camera specification with Leica processing options
- Ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking
- 90W wired charging
- A phone with an official global product presence
Neither is a sensible purchase if the seller cannot confirm the model number, ROM, network bands, warranty and return policy. This is particularly important for US buyers: the global Xiaomi listing does not by itself guarantee US carrier compatibility or local warranty coverage.

The Oppo Find X8s+ wins the hardware-spec battle, especially for battery capacity, telephoto photography, screen size and water resistance. But the Xiaomi 15 wins the buying decision for most international users because it is smaller, uses a broadly familiar Snapdragon platform, offers an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and carries fewer import uncertainties.
The Oppo becomes the obvious winner only when battery endurance, 73mm telephoto portraits and IP69 protection matter more than software certainty, compactness and local support.
