The OPPO F29 and F29 Pro are no longer unreleased phones: OPPO announced the India launch on March 12, 2025, launched both models on March 20, and began sales on March 27 (F29) and April 1 (F29 Pro). Their key specifications, colors and durability-focused design were previewed before launch and later confirmed by OPPO. The prices below are the original India launch prices, not necessarily current store prices.

Design and colour differences
The F29 uses a flat AMOLED screen and a flatter-looking body. It is offered in Glacier Blue and Solid Purple. OPPO says the Glacier Blue version uses a glass-fibre-fabric back cover, while Solid Purple uses fiberglass.

Both models use what OPPO calls a 360° Armour Body approach, including reinforced frames, impact-absorbing internal structures, raised corner protection and a camera protection ring. These are construction and laboratory-test claims, not a promise that either phone is indestructible. Colour and storage combinations can vary by retailer and stock.
Durability: IP ratings, military testing and the limits
Both phones carry IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings and were subjected to 14 environmental tests under MIL-STD-810H-2022, according to OPPO. The company also cites drop, impact and resistance testing against everyday liquids.
That does not make either device permanently waterproof. OPPO warns that water resistance can decline with wear and tear, and liquid damage caused by misuse may not be covered by warranty. Avoid seawater, chemicals and deliberate high-pressure exposure.

Both models advertise an underwater photography mode. OPPO limits use to no more than 1.5 metres and 30 minutes, says the feature is not for professional diving, and recommends a dedicated waterproof case. Treat the IP rating as protection against specified test conditions—not an invitation to take the phone swimming.
Display and performance
Each phone has a 6.7-inch, 2412 × 1080, 120Hz AMOLED display. The Pro’s panel is flexible, quad-curved, 10-bit and rated at 394 pixels per inch, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The standard F29 uses Gorilla Glass 7i. OPPO’s 1,200-nit figures are laboratory or specified peak-brightness data, so outdoor visibility can differ in real use.
The F29’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is aimed at everyday apps, streaming and moderate gaming. The F29 Pro’s Dimensity 7300 Energy is the stronger platform on paper and is paired with the higher 12GB/256GB option. OPPO lists an AnTuTu result of about 650,000 for the F29, but that is an OPPO laboratory result rather than an independent benchmark.

Battery and charging
The base F29 has the larger battery: 6,500mAh with 45W SUPERVOOC. The F29 Pro uses a 6,000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC. In practical terms, choose the F29 if maximum capacity and potentially longer intervals between charges matter most; choose the Pro if substantially faster wired charging is more useful.

Cameras and video
Both phones have a 50MP primary rear camera, a 2MP secondary depth or monochrome camera and a 16MP selfie camera. The important hardware difference is optical image stabilisation on the F29 Pro’s 50MP main camera. OPPO’s Pro specification sheet also lists 4K recording at 30 frames per second, OIS/EIS video support and several slow-motion modes.

Megapixel counts alone do not establish flagship-level image quality. The Pro’s OIS should help with hand shake and low-light capture, but a definitive camera verdict requires independent testing.

Both phones launched with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. OPPO advertised AI Eraser, AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Reflection Remover, AI Unblur, AI Writer, AI Reply, AI Recording Summary, Screen Translator and Circle to Search with Google. Glove Mode, wet-touch or splash-touch operation and underwater photography are also part of the feature set.
Feature availability, supported languages and regional behaviour can change with software versions. OPPO specifically notes that Screen Translator support varies by region and version. At launch, OPPO promised two years of OS updates and three years of security updates; that announcement should not be read as a statement of the phones’ current patch level.

The original India launch prices were:
- OPPO F29 5G: ₹23,999 for 8GB/128GB and ₹25,999 for 8GB/256GB. First sale: March 27, 2025.

Which OPPO F29 should you buy?
- Choose the F29 for the lower entry price, larger 6,500mAh battery, flat display, and Glacier Blue or Solid Purple finishes. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is adequate for normal use and moderate gaming.
- Choose the F29 Pro for 80W charging, the Dimensity 7300 Energy platform, quad-curved AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, OIS on the main camera and the 12GB/256GB option.
The central trade-off is simple: the F29 prioritises battery capacity and value, while the Pro spends more on charging speed, display treatment, processing headroom and camera stabilisation. Both offer the same broad IP and MIL-STD positioning, but neither should be marketed as indestructible or as a professional underwater camera.
What was leaked and what was confirmed?
Pre-launch reports and OPPO’s March 12, 2025 reveal established the launch date, colours, design direction and durability claims. After the March 20 launch, OPPO published the complete specifications, prices and sales dates. Therefore, “leaked” is accurate only when describing the period before launch; for a current article, the F29 and F29 Pro should be treated as officially confirmed and commercially available models.
