OnePlus said the OnePlus 13 sold more than 100,000 units in the first 30 minutes of its first sale in China on November 1, 2024. The figure was attributed to OnePlus China president Li Jie and described by the company as a record first-sale result for a OnePlus flagship. It was not an independently audited global sales count.
What the 100,000-unit figure means
The claim is substantially real, but its scope matters: it concerns the OnePlus 13’s first sale in China, not worldwide sales. Reports attributed the milestone to Li Jie, OnePlus China’s president. OnePlus characterized it as the strongest first-sale performance for one of its flagship phones. Gizmochina reported the claim, while MyDrivers reported the company’s record claim.
Those public reports do not define precisely what “sold” counted. They do not establish whether the total represents completed purchases, accepted orders, or another internal sales measure, nor do they provide a channel breakdown, delivery total, revenue, cancellations, returns, or independent audit. Treat it as a company-reported launch figure rather than a verified measure of units delivered to customers.

China launch first; international release later
OnePlus announced the phone in China on October 31, 2024, and started sales there the next day, with a starting price of 4,499 yuan. OnePlus’s China launch page and Xinhua’s launch report document that timeline. The international launch, including North America, followed on January 7, 2025, according to OnePlus’s announcement. The Chinese first-sale number therefore cannot be presented as a result for the later global release.

Chinese launch prices and configurations
The China launch lineup ranged from 12GB RAM and 256GB storage to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. Prices reported for those configurations were:
| RAM and storage | China launch price |
|---|---|
| 12GB + 256GB | 4,499 yuan |
| 12GB + 512GB | 4,899 yuan |
| 16GB + 512GB | 5,299 yuan |
| 24GB + 1TB | 5,999 yuan |
These China prices were reported by ITHome. The starting price was 200 yuan above the comparable 12GB/256GB OnePlus 12 configuration, which launched at 4,299 yuan: a roughly 4.7% increase, using the two reported China launch prices. That comparison says nothing about US pricing; regional prices, taxes, promotions, configurations, and warranty terms differ.
What the reported configuration mix adds
Chinese technology media reported, citing OnePlus management, that the two highest configurations accounted for nearly 80% of overall sales and that the 24GB/1TB model became unavailable shortly after launch. MyDrivers carried those details; they are not independently audited channel data. If accurate, the mix suggests early interest extended beyond the cheapest model, but it does not establish the same buying pattern in other countries. A scarce model can also reflect limited supply as well as strong demand.
Why the phone may have drawn early interest
The China model paired Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite platform with a 6.82-inch QHD+ display, a 6,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 50-megapixel main, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. Chinese configurations went up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. These are specifications, not proof of why buyers placed orders; the sales figure cannot isolate the influence of any one feature. See OnePlus’s China specifications.
The North American model’s specifications are not identical in every regional detail. OnePlus lists 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging for North America, with up to 100W using a compatible OnePlus adapter, alongside 50W wireless charging. Its international launch materials also describe a 6,000mAh Silicon NanoStack battery, a 2K 120Hz display, a triple 50MP camera system, and IP68/IP69 ratings. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent performance findings. North American specifications and the launch announcement provide the regional details.

What the milestone does—and does not—show
More than 100,000 reported units in half an hour is evidence of strong initial interest in China and a notable launch moment for OnePlus by its own flagship-history measure. The higher starting price and reported premium-configuration mix add context to that opening result.
It does not establish global popularity, sustained sales, market-share gains, profitability, customer satisfaction, deliveries, or how the phone performed against rival flagships. Nor does a launch rush demonstrate camera superiority or prove that a particular specification caused demand. Those conclusions require different evidence than a company-reported first-sale total.

A China-market handset is not automatically interchangeable with the North American or other international version. Software branding and regional features can differ: Chinese models may use ColorOS rather than OxygenOS and may vary in supported cellular bands, eSIM, Android Auto, Google-service setup, language support, notification behavior, and compatibility with payment or banking apps. Warranty coverage and returns also depend on where and from whom the phone was bought. Check the exact model’s network and software compatibility before importing; US buyers who want predictable local support should generally choose an official North American model.
Charging claims also need a market label: the China model’s advertised 100W wired charging is not the North American specification’s standard wired figure. Water-resistance ratings likewise do not mean permanent waterproofing. OnePlus describes defined freshwater test conditions for its IP rating on the US product page; real-world damage and warranty coverage may differ from laboratory classification.
