This guide covers the original 2023 OnePlus Pad sold in the United States—not the Pad 2, Pad 3, Pad Go, or Pad Lite. The most useful way to troubleshoot it is to isolate the source: tablet settings or software, a particular app or accessory, your router or charger, or a hardware fault. Before changing settings, back up important files, note the OxygenOS build under Settings > About device, and remove any third-party case when testing accessories.
Quick checks by symptom
| Symptom | Try first | Risk | Escalate when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery drains or charging is slow | Use a known-good cable and OnePlus adapter, try another outlet, then restart. | Low | It will not charge with more than one known-good setup, or the device is swollen, damaged, or unusually hot. |
| Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or phone connection fails | Test another network or accessory; toggle the connection, then forget and reconnect. | Low | All networks or accessories fail after a restart and system update. |
| Keyboard or Stylo stops working | Remove the case, clean contacts with a dry microfiber cloth, restart, and reattach. | Low | The problem persists across apps or the accessory fails to connect after these checks. |
| Lag, app, or display behavior seems wrong | Compare multiple apps, restart, check storage, and update the affected app and OxygenOS. | Low | System-wide problems persist after app and software checks; back up before considering a reset. |
These are troubleshooting categories, not a claim that every original OnePlus Pad has four established defects. The tablet has an 11.61-inch display, Wi-Fi 6, and a 9,510-mAh typical battery, according to OnePlus’s US product specifications. Menu names can vary by OxygenOS build; if a path below differs, search Settings for the named feature.
1. Battery drain, slow charging, or charging failure
OnePlus advertises 67W SUPERVOOC charging for this model, but the speed depends on the adapter, cable, temperature, usage, software, and battery age. In OnePlus’s laboratory test, the Pad reached 86% after 60 minutes and took about 80 minutes to charge from 0% to full. Those results are not a guarantee for every charger or real-world session. OnePlus says the 67W and 65W rates require official OnePlus adapters; see the product page and its charging qualifications.

- Connect the original OnePlus adapter and a known-good USB-C cable directly to a different wall outlet. If you use another adapter, do not assume it will reproduce OnePlus’s advertised SUPERVOOC rate.
- Check the USB-C port for visible lint or damage. Do not insert metal tools or scrape the port.
- For a fair speed check, leave demanding games, video, and other heavy tasks closed. Heavy use while charging can affect the rate.
- Restart the tablet and check whether the percentage begins changing. If it remains unresponsive, try a long press of the power button and another known-good cable and adapter.
Find what is draining the battery
- Open the battery-usage screen in Settings and look for apps using an unusual amount of power while the tablet is idle. Video, social, browser, VPN, cloud-sync, and game apps can all contribute.
- Update or restrict an app only after identifying it as a likely cause. If the drain began after installing or updating one app, test that app separately.
- Temporarily turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and stop hotspot or other high-use features. Re-enable them one at a time to see whether one is associated with the drain.
- Check for an OxygenOS update at Settings > About device > OxygenOS / Software update. Labels differ across builds; use Settings search for “update” if needed.
Know when to stop charging
Charging speed can vary with temperature and workload. Stop charging and contact OnePlus support if the tablet swells, smells abnormal, has visible damage, or becomes unusually hot. Do not open it or attempt a battery replacement: OnePlus directs owners to an official service center for battery repair or genuine replacement. If the percentage remains frozen across multiple known-good setups after a restart, treat it as a possible software or hardware fault rather than continuing to swap chargers.

2. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or OnePlus phone connection problems
Separate a tablet problem from a network or accessory problem
- Try the same Wi-Fi network with another device, then try the Pad on a different network or a phone hotspot. If other devices also fail on one network, investigate the router or internet service.
- Turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth off, wait several seconds, and turn it back on. Restart both devices involved.
- For Wi-Fi, forget the saved network and enter its password again. For Bluetooth, remove or forget the accessory on the Pad, put the accessory into pairing mode, and pair it again.
- Test close to the router or accessory and temporarily disconnect other Bluetooth devices. If your router offers both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands, test each.
- Install available system updates on the Pad and connected phone, and check for accessory firmware updates if the accessory supports them.
Check phone-integration support before troubleshooting it as a defect
OnePlus lists Multi-Screen Connect and Auto Connect with selected OnePlus phones running OxygenOS 13.1 or later, but support depends on the specific phone hardware and software, and features can vary by region or arrive through an OTA update. Confirm that the phone model is supported, both devices are on suitable software, and the feature is available in your regional build. The compatibility details are on OnePlus’s product page; they do not establish that every OnePlus phone will connect.
Reset network settings only if simpler checks fail
A network reset can help when all Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections fail, but it removes saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings. Look in Settings under System or System & update > Reset options for an option such as Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth; exact labels vary by build. Reconnect your networks and accessories afterward. If only one router fails, check its security mode, band steering, MAC filtering, and firmware rather than resetting the tablet.

3. Magnetic Keyboard or Stylo not connecting or responding
The original Pad supports the OnePlus Magnetic Keyboard and OnePlus Stylo, which OnePlus lists as optional accessories. Confirm the accessory is specifically compatible with the original Pad; later OnePlus tablets may use different accessories or firmware. The official product page describes the keyboard’s magnetic attachment and touchpad and the Stylo’s magnetic charging. Magnetic attachment alone does not prove that contacts are aligned or the accessory is communicating electronically.
Keyboard checks
- Remove any case or folio temporarily, then detach and reattach the keyboard, aligning it carefully.
- With the keyboard detached, wipe the tablet and keyboard contacts with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Do not scrape the contacts.
- Restart the Pad with the keyboard detached. After it fully boots, reattach the keyboard.
- Check whether it appears in Bluetooth or physical-accessory settings. If listed but malfunctioning, forget it, restart, and reconnect it.
- Test an external Bluetooth keyboard. If that works, the issue may be with the Magnetic Keyboard or its contacts; if it does not, investigate system input settings or software.
Stylo checks
- Verify that the Stylo is intended for the original OnePlus Pad and charge it in its supported magnetic position.
- Remove magnetic cases or other accessories that could interfere with alignment, then restart the Pad and reattach the Stylo.
- Test handwriting in a basic notes or drawing app. If only one app has trouble, check that app’s stylus support before treating the issue as a tablet fault.
A case can interfere with contact alignment or magnetic charging. If an accessory stopped working after a system update, note the OxygenOS build and the steps that reproduce the problem. Community reports about keyboard failures on later OnePlus Pad models are anecdotal and do not establish a defect in the original model.

4. Lag, app compatibility, refresh rate, or update trouble
First determine whether the issue is app-specific
- Compare the behavior in several places, such as Settings, a browser, video playback, and a game. If only one app is slow or unstable, update that app first.
- Restart the Pad, especially if the problem began after an update or appeared suddenly.
- Check available storage and remove unneeded downloads or large files if space is low.
- Install available OxygenOS and app updates. The version offered can vary by device and region.
Do not treat every refresh-rate difference as a display failure
The display is specified at up to 144 Hz, but OnePlus limits 144-Hz operation to whitelisted apps and lists scrolling at up to 120 Hz. An app running at a lower rate may therefore be behaving within the stated limits. OnePlus also says split-screen and dual-window functions work only with supported apps, and that the supported list can change with updates. See the display and multitasking notes on the product page.
Work through app and background-software causes
- Temporarily turn off battery-saving restrictions, screen recording, floating windows, VPNs, and demanding background apps, then see whether the symptom changes.
- For an isolated app problem, clear that app’s cache through its app settings if available. Clearing storage is more disruptive and can erase local data or sign you out, so do it only after understanding the consequences.
- If the tablet is hot or draining quickly during a performance problem, try a lower refresh setting temporarily and close demanding apps.
- If the problem began after an OxygenOS update, record the build number, exact steps to reproduce it, and screenshots where useful. Check for app updates and allow background app optimization to finish before escalating.
OnePlus Community reported a North American incremental rollout of OxygenOS 16.0.5.700 with the April 2026 Android security patch, but that does not mean every US unit received that build. Check the version installed on your own tablet rather than relying on a universal “latest” version; the Community update notice describes the rollout.

Reserve a factory reset for persistent, system-wide trouble
A factory reset erases data and requires setup again. Consider it only after restarts, updates, app-specific checks, and accessory or network isolation have failed. Back up photos, files, notes, downloads, and app data first, and make sure you know your Google account credentials. If the fault persists after a reset before you reinstall apps, contact support; do not reset merely because one app or accessory misbehaves.
When to contact OnePlus support
- The battery is swollen, the tablet smells abnormal, or it becomes unusually hot while charging: stop using it and seek service.
- It will not charge with multiple known-good cable, adapter, and outlet combinations, or the charge percentage remains frozen after a restart.
- Wi-Fi or Bluetooth fails across multiple networks or accessories after a restart and software update.
- Keyboard or Stylo problems persist after checking compatibility, contacts, case interference, pairing, and app support.
- System-wide crashes or instability continue after appropriate software checks and a backed-up reset, or the tablet has physical damage.
Use the OnePlus US troubleshooting portal or OnePlus US support for current support and repair options. Support hours, eligibility, and repair terms can change, so check the live US pages rather than relying on an old policy summary.
