The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro launched in 2025, not 2026. In the US, it is sold through Nothing’s limited Beta Program rather than a conventional retail or carrier launch. Nothing lists the 12GB/256GB model at $459, although its product page has shown the phone as sold out. The main reason to consider it is the unusual 3x periscope telephoto camera; the main reasons to hesitate are carrier limitations, uncertain stock, and non-standard warranty and repair support.

What is the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro?
The official name is Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, not “Nothing Phone-3a Pro.” It is the higher-end model in Nothing’s Phone (3a) series, positioned above the standard Phone (3a) and below the company’s flagship Phone line.

Release date and US availability
Nothing announced the Phone (3a) series during the March 2025 launch period. In India, a launch document stated that sales would begin on Flipkart on March 11, 2025. That is an India sales date, not a US release date; the announcement is documented in Nothing’s regional launch material.
In the US, Nothing did not offer the Phone (3a) Pro as a normal nationwide carrier or retail model. The US version is distributed through the Nothing US Beta Program, which describes the phone as being supplied for testing and feedback. Nothing says the hardware is the same as the global model, but it does not guarantee full compatibility with every US carrier or feature.
US price, configuration and stock
Nothing lists the US Beta Program Phone (3a) Pro at $459 for a 12GB RAM/256GB storage configuration, in black or gray. This is the price listed for the Beta Program device, not a universally available conventional US MSRP.
The latest supplied product-page listing showed the phone as sold out, while the Beta Program page still described it as available. Check the US storefront and checkout page immediately before ordering. Taxes and possible payment-provider, currency-conversion, or foreign-transaction charges may be additional.
For comparison, Nothing lists the standard Phone (3a) at $379 for 12GB/256GB through the same US Beta Program. The $80 difference is primarily justified by the Pro model’s periscope telephoto camera and more ambitious camera system.
Full specifications
Display
The Phone (3a) Pro has a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, HDR10+, and support for 1.07 billion colors. Nothing lists a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, a 1,000Hz touch sampling rate, 2,160Hz PWM dimming, a claimed 91.4% screen-to-body ratio, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
The 3,000-nit figure is a peak brightness claim, not a promise of 3,000 nits across the entire screen during ordinary use. Nothing’s display comparisons are based on its own testing against the Phone (2a) Plus.
On paper, the display is one of the phone’s strongest features: it combines a large panel, smooth scrolling, high claimed peak brightness, and display-flicker-conscious PWM specifications.
Processor, RAM and storage
Power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, an eight-core midrange processor clocked at up to 2.5GHz and paired with Qualcomm’s AI Engine. It should be understood as midrange hardware, not flagship silicon. It can suit everyday apps, photography, streaming, and casual-to-moderate gaming, but buyers seeking sustained flagship gaming performance should look elsewhere.
Nothing may describe the 12GB model as offering up to “20GB RAM.” That figure combines 12GB of physical memory with storage-based memory expansion. The additional memory is not equivalent to 20GB of physical RAM, and the usable amount can vary with available storage and software conditions.
Cameras
- Main: 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization, a 1/1.57-inch sensor, and a 24mm-equivalent focal length.
- Periscope telephoto: 50MP Sony sensor with optical image stabilization, a 1/1.95-inch sensor, a 75mm-equivalent focal length, and 3x optical zoom.
- Ultrawide: 8MP camera with a 120-degree field of view.
- Video: Up to 4K recording according to Nothing’s product specifications.
The headline zoom range is 0.6x to 60x. Only the 3x setting is optical zoom; Nothing also lists 6x in-sensor zoom and up to 60x digital or “ultra” zoom. The 60x figure should not be interpreted as optical-quality magnification.

Nothing promotes fast charging, battery endurance, and a vapor-chamber cooling system for the Phone (3a) Pro. Those claims are based on Nothing’s laboratory testing and can vary with software, network conditions, screen settings, temperature, and usage. The exact regional battery and charging specifications should be checked on the relevant product page before purchase because regional listings and footnotes may differ.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Nothing OS 3 based on Android 15. Nothing’s software features include the Glyph interface, Essential Space, Essential Key, and the TrueLens Engine 3 computational photography system.
Nothing promises three Android upgrades and six years of security, corrective, and functionality updates from first market availability. That is a policy commitment, not a guarantee that every update or feature will arrive at the same time in every region.
Design and durability
The Phone (3a) Pro uses Nothing’s transparent-inspired design language, with tempered glass, aluminum accents, and the Glyph lighting interface on the rear. Its IP64 rating provides dust protection under the applicable test and protection against water splashes.
IP64 does not mean waterproof. It is not an IP67 or IP68 submersion rating. Nothing warns against pool, beach, and other wet-environment use, and liquid damage outside the tested conditions may not be covered under the stated limitations.
Camera analysis: the periscope is the real Pro feature
The 3x periscope telephoto camera is the clearest reason to choose the Pro over the standard Phone (3a). A dedicated telephoto lens gives you a more useful perspective for portraits, distant subjects, travel, and stage or event photography than simply cropping the main camera.
The main camera also benefits from optical image stabilization, while the telephoto camera has stabilization of its own. The 8MP ultrawide is more modest on paper than the two 50MP cameras, so the camera system is strongest at its main and 3x focal lengths rather than uniformly high-end across every camera.
Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3 and zoom-processing claims describe the company’s computational photography approach. They should not be treated as independent camera-test results. Likewise, 4K video support does not by itself establish video quality, stabilization quality, or low-light performance.

US carrier compatibility
Carrier support is the most important technical issue for a US buyer. Matching a few LTE or 5G bands does not guarantee activation, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, 5G access, or reliable support on a particular carrier or MVNO. Nothing explicitly says it cannot guarantee full compatibility with any US carrier.

AT&T
Nothing lists 3G, 4G, and 5G support, but not all AT&T 5G bands are supported. The listed LTE bands include 2, 4, 12, 17, 5, 48, and 66; listed 5G bands include 2, 5, 66, and 77.
Most importantly, Nothing’s US FAQ says VoLTE and VoWiFi will not work on AT&T. That makes AT&T a particularly risky choice for anyone who depends on reliable carrier calling or Wi-Fi calling.
T-Mobile
Nothing lists 3G, 4G, and 5G support, while warning that not all 5G bands are supported. Listed LTE bands include 2, 4, 5, 12, 41, 48, and 66; listed 5G bands include 41 and 77.

T-Mobile is the most plausible fit among the major US carriers, but it is not a guarantee. Confirm activation, supported bands in your area, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, and 5G access with T-Mobile or your MVNO before paying.
Verizon
CDMA is not supported. Nothing says Verizon customers must contact Verizon to add the phone’s IMEI to its database. Listed LTE bands include 2, 4, 5, 48, and 66; listed 5G bands include 2, 5, 66, and 77.
Verizon activation may therefore require additional handling and remains less straightforward than buying a phone officially approved for the network. Matching bands alone is not enough.
Pre-purchase carrier checklist
- Identify the exact carrier and MVNO, not just the underlying network.
- Ask whether the phone’s IMEI can be activated before ordering.
- Confirm VoLTE support, especially if you use AT&T.
- Confirm Wi-Fi calling if it is important to you.
- Ask whether 5G will be enabled in your area and plan.
- Check the carrier’s current compatibility database rather than relying only on Nothing’s band list.
- Keep the return deadline in mind in case activation fails.
Beta Program warranty, returns and support
The US Beta Program is not equivalent to a normal retail purchase. Nothing says the device is supplied for testing and feedback, and a standard warranty does not apply under the program.
The program does not provide a normal after-sales repair service. If a device is defective, the remedy may be replacement rather than repair. Returns or exchanges are generally limited to 14 days after delivery. Change-of-mind returns may require the customer to pay return shipping, and physical or accidental damage can disqualify a return or exchange.
Read the Nothing US Beta Agreement before ordering. This support gap matters more than a small difference in camera or processor specifications: if the phone fails, loses carrier functionality, or develops a hardware problem, you do not receive the same protection as with a conventional US retail phone.
Nothing Phone (3a) Pro vs Phone (3a)

Nothing Phone (3a)
The standard Phone (3a) is the most direct alternative. It preserves the series identity and software direction while costing less in the US Beta Program. Pick it when telephoto photography is not important; pay for the Pro when the periscope camera is the reason you are shopping.

Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro is a much cheaper, more value-oriented option listed at $279 for 8GB/256GB through the US Beta Program. It is not a direct replacement for the Phone (3a) Pro if you want Nothing’s Glyph interface, distinctive Phone-series design, or 3x periscope camera.
Nothing Phone 3
The Nothing Phone 3 sits in the company’s higher-end Phone range rather than the midrange 3a series. It is the more natural direction for buyers who prioritize flagship-level performance and are willing to consider a different price and feature balance. Check Nothing’s current official US storefront for availability and pricing rather than assuming that the 3a Pro’s Beta Program terms apply identically.
Mainstream unlocked Android phones
A mainstream unlocked Android phone sold through established US retail channels may be the better choice if guaranteed carrier activation, Wi-Fi calling, financing, trade-ins, a conventional warranty, or accessible repair service matters more than the Phone (3a) Pro’s design and telephoto camera. Compare total ownership risk, not just display and camera specifications.
Should you buy the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro in 2026?
Buy it if you are a technically confident T-Mobile user
The Phone (3a) Pro makes the most sense for a buyer who verifies activation and 5G support, likes Nothing OS and the Glyph design, and specifically values a 3x telephoto camera. Accept the Beta Program’s limited support before ordering.

The stated lack of VoLTE and VoWiFi is a fundamental limitation, not a minor missing feature. AT&T customers should avoid the phone unless Nothing and the carrier confirm that their exact calling setup will work.
Expect extra friction on Verizon
Verizon users must have the IMEI added to Verizon’s database, and compatibility is not guaranteed. Choose it only if Verizon confirms activation and the required services before purchase.
Choose it for the camera, not flagship performance
The periscope camera and large 120Hz AMOLED display are the strongest reasons to buy. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 remains midrange, and the “20GB RAM” description includes storage-based expansion.
Avoid it if you need conventional support
If you require a normal manufacturer warranty, standard repair service, predictable US stock, or straightforward carrier support, the US Beta Program is the wrong purchase channel even if the hardware specifications look attractive.
