Nomad launched its limited-edition Glow in the Dark Icy Blue Sport Band for Apple Watch on January 7, 2025. Priced at $60 at launch, the FKM rubber band appears pale icy blue in daylight and emits a blue glow after absorbing light. It was a real product launch, but its exact availability in 2026 is unverified.
What Nomad launched
The product was officially described in launch coverage as the Glow in the Dark Icy Blue Sport Band or Icy Blue Glow Sport Band. “Dark Icy Blue Sport Band” is a shorthand description rather than the clearest product name.
Nomad presented it as a limited-edition update to its earlier Glow Sport Band range. The launch price was $60 USD. The band was offered in variants for both larger and smaller Apple Watch case families.

How the glow works
In normal light, the band has a pale blue-white, icy-blue appearance. In darkness, it glows blue. This is a photoluminescent effect, so the band must first be exposed to daylight or another strong light source. Glow intensity and duration vary with the amount and type of light absorbed, how long it was exposed, and the surrounding darkness.
Nomad claimed the Icy Blue version was three times brighter than its original Glow Sport Band. That is a manufacturer claim, not a standardized brightness measurement or an independently verified laboratory result. Earlier coverage of Nomad’s Glow band found that its real-world effect could be subtler than promotional photography suggests; that observation applies to the earlier model, not a measured test of the 2025 Icy Blue version. The glow is best treated as a style and low-light visibility feature. It is not an electronic light, a certified safety light, or a replacement for reflective clothing, bicycle lights, or personal lighting when running or cycling after dark.

The Sport Band uses FKM fluoroelastomer rubber, a material suited to exercise and regular water exposure. Nomad’s Sport Band product family is described as:
- Waterproof according to Nomad’s product description
- Fitted with interior ventilation channels
- Secured by a custom aluminum closure pin
- Designed with a pin-and-tuck fastening system
- One-size-fits-most within each compatible Apple Watch size family
FKM is practical for workouts, rain, swimming, and sweaty conditions, although it can feel firmer than Apple’s softer Sport Band material, according to coverage of the earlier Glow model. “Waterproof” should not be interpreted as making the Apple Watch or band invulnerable in every water condition.

Apple’s case-size terminology has changed across generations. Current Nomad listings group sizes differently, including combinations such as Ultra/46 mm and 41 mm/42 mm. Before buying, select the band according to Nomad’s current compatibility chart and your watch’s lug-compatible case family—not simply the color name or an old listing’s size label.

Price and availability in 2026
The Icy Blue Glow Sport Band launched at $60, but its current availability cannot be confirmed from the surfaced Nomad listings. The original product page was not found among current search results, while some older or special-color Sport Band pages are marked sold out or “No Longer Available.” That suggests the limited edition may be sold out or discontinued, but the evidence does not establish permanent discontinuation.
Nomad’s currently listed regular Sport Band costs $59. It uses the same general FKM, ventilated, pin-and-tuck design but does not provide the Icy Blue Glow limited-edition finish.
If considering a reseller, check that the listing explicitly says Icy Blue Glow or Glow in the Dark Icy Blue. Ask for the model number, clear photographs, and a return policy. Do not assume that “dark icy blue” is an official name, and be cautious about paying more than the original $60 solely because of limited-edition language.

Nomad later used the Icy Blue Glow concept on a separate product: the Icy Blue Glow Stratos Band, launched on January 20, 2026. It is not the original Sport Band.

Nomad’s current Stratos listing includes an adjustment tool and describes the titanium/FKM construction. Its higher price does not make it a direct replacement for buyers who specifically want the lightweight, all-rubber Sport Band.
Nomad has also used the colorway on the more rugged Rocky Point Band, aimed particularly at Apple Watch Ultra users. That is another distinct form factor, not the 2025 Sport Band.
Who should buy it?
The original band makes sense for Apple Watch owners who want an unusual limited-edition color, a glow effect after dark, and a workout-friendly rubber construction. It is especially appealing if the novelty of the changing appearance matters more than having a bright daytime blue finish.

Skip it if you need a currently available band, true electronic illumination, certified nighttime visibility, or a soft traditional Apple Sport Band feel. It is also a poor value at heavily inflated resale prices unless collectibility is important to you.
Bottom line
Nomad’s limited-edition Icy Blue Glow Sport Band was a genuine January 2025 Apple Watch accessory, launched at $60. It glows blue after charging under light and uses Nomad’s FKM Sport Band design, but the glow is temporary and not a safety light. In 2026, verify first-party availability carefully, distinguish “Icy Blue Glow” from ordinary “Icy Blue,” and do not mistake the much more expensive Stratos Band for the original Sport Band.
