The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is real, but it was announced on November 25, 2024—not newly released in 2026. It is a jointly developed, fully modular 1,600W ATX 3.1 power supply based on Seasonic’s PRIME TX platform, with Noctua’s NF-A12x25 fan, a custom grille and semi-passive control designed to reduce PSU noise. It makes the most sense for genuinely power-hungry, noise-sensitive workstations and gaming PCs; most single-GPU systems will not need 1,600W.
Seasonic announced the unit at a $569 US / €499 European MSRP. That is the launch MSRP, not a verified current street price.
What the Noctua Edition actually is
The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is not a completely new PSU platform manufactured by Noctua. Seasonic supplies the PRIME TX-1600 foundation, while Noctua contributes the acoustic design and controls the edition’s sales channel. Seasonic’s product page says the model is sold exclusively by Noctua.

Seasonic’s official specification page also lists 94% efficiency at 50% load and 105°C-rated Japanese electrolytic capacitors. Efficiency is measured at standardized test points, so 94% should not be interpreted as a constant result at every workload.
Why it is quieter
The acoustic improvement comes from several changes rather than from the Noctua fan alone:
- NF-A12x25 fan: The edition uses a 120mm Noctua fan instead of the regular PRIME TX-1600’s 135mm fan.
- Custom grille: The grille is designed to reduce airflow restriction, turbulence and acoustic noise.
- Digital Hybrid Fan Control: The PSU can stop its fan at low or moderate loads and ramp it gradually as temperature and power demand increase.
Noctua and Seasonic claim approximately 8–10 dB(A) less fan noise than the standard PRIME TX-1600, with approximately 24 dB(A) at 100% load when ambient temperature is up to 25°C. The standard model is listed at approximately 34 dB(A).

Those are manufacturer-supplied figures, not a guarantee for an entire computer. GPU fans, CPU coolers, case fans, pumps, coil whine, microphone distance and room noise can all dominate the final result. Tom’s Hardware described the unit’s acoustic performance as outstanding and found noise controlled throughout its testing, but its review does not turn the manufacturer’s 24 dB(A) figure into a universal system-level measurement.
When does the fan turn on?
Under the manufacturer’s stated conditions, with ambient temperature at 25°C or below, the fan can remain off up to approximately 50% electrical load. It then ramps as load and temperature rise.

- ATX 3.1 / PCIE 5.1 ready. Dual native 12V-2x6 connectors
- 80 PLUS Platinum and Cybenetics Titanium certified
- Ideal for AI workstations
- 100% Japanese capacitors
- Hybrid fan control with 135 mm FDB fan
That does not mean the PSU is fanless up to 800W in every computer. A hot room, restricted case airflow, dust, a compact enclosure or a sustained workstation workload can make the fan start earlier. “Semi-passive” or “fan-off at certain loads” is more accurate than “silent.”
ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1 and the 12V-2×6 connector
The PSU includes a native 12V-2×6 connector for compatible modern graphics cards. That is preferable to relying on multiple adapter arrangements, but it does not remove installation responsibilities.

- Push the connector fully into the GPU.
- Do not sharply bend or force the cable sideways at the plug.
- Follow the GPU maker’s recommended bend radius and clearance.
- Never mix modular cables from another power supply.
12V-2×6 should not simply be treated as an interchangeable label for the older 12VHPWR connector. ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 improve compatibility with current hardware power behavior, but they do not guarantee compatibility with every future component.
The important 210mm case-clearance problem
At 210mm long, this is a substantially extended ATX PSU. Check the case’s actual PSU-length limit, then check the space available for modular plugs and cable bends. A case that technically accepts a 210mm PSU may not leave enough room for the 12V-2×6 cable or other connectors.
This is especially important in compact cases, dual-chamber designs and systems with drive cages behind the PSU. Measure before buying rather than relying only on the case’s nominal maximum PSU length.

Is 1,600W necessary?
For many gaming PCs, no. A single-GPU system whose measured peak consumption is comfortably below 1,000W may gain little from buying a 1,600W unit. A premium 1,000–1,300W ATX 3.x PSU can provide ample capacity and the same practical quietness if its fan remains off during normal use.

The larger model becomes easier to justify for systems combining a flagship GPU with a high-core-count CPU, multiple accelerators, sustained rendering, AI workloads or unusually demanding expansion hardware. The decision should consider:
- Measured or carefully estimated peak system draw.
- GPU transient behavior.
- Native connector requirements.
- Desired reserve for sustained workloads.
- Potential upgrades.
- Case clearance and electrical supply.
Oversizing can help a PSU stay in its low-noise operating range, but a larger PSU is not automatically more efficient. Efficiency depends on the unit’s efficiency curve and the load placed on it. Paying for 1,600W solely to chase efficiency is difficult to justify when the system rarely approaches that capacity.

Buyers using nominal 100V mains should read the official output table carefully. Seasonic lists 1,600W continuous power for 115–240V, while the same documentation includes a 1,300W total continuous-power figure under its 100–240V input listing. That wording should not be simplified into an unconditional claim that the PSU delivers 1,600W at every input voltage.
Readers in regions using 100V electrical systems, including Japan and some specialized setups, should confirm the applicable regional limit with Seasonic before purchase.

Who should buy it?
Choose it when you need very high capacity, PSU noise is a major concern, your case supports a 210mm unit plus cable clearance, and the premium price is acceptable. It is particularly well matched to high-end gaming workstations and sustained compute systems where PSU fan noise would otherwise be noticeable.
Skip it when your system’s maximum draw is comfortably below 1,000W, your case is space-constrained, value matters more than acoustic refinement, or you expect the whole PC to be silent. The GPU, CPU cooler, case fans, pump and coil whine may remain louder than the PSU regardless of its fan design.
Price, alternatives and the next model
The launch price was $569 in the United States and €499 in Europe. No reliable current street price or stock position is established here, so buyers should verify the live price and confirm that the listing comes through an authorized Noctua channel with the correct regional power cord and cable set.
The standard Seasonic PRIME TX platform may offer similar efficiency and electrical capability at a lower price, but it does not include this edition’s specific Noctua fan, grille and control treatment. For many single-GPU systems, a lower-wattage 1,000–1,300W Titanium or Platinum ATX 3.x PSU is the more rational alternative—provided its connector support, noise performance, warranty, price and case fit are checked for the specific build.

That is not evidence that the current 210mm model has been replaced.
Verdict
The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is a specialized premium PSU, not a universal upgrade. Its combination of 1,600W capacity, Titanium efficiency, native 12V-2×6 support, a 12-year warranty and unusually refined fan behavior is compelling for a genuinely high-power system where silence matters. For an ordinary single-GPU PC, the 210mm chassis and premium price make a smaller high-quality PSU the better buy.
