SOAX is the closest documented like-for-like NetNut alternative. It combines residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter proxies with scraping APIs, a Web Data API and an AI Scraper. Choose Oxylabs when you need an enterprise-oriented managed API and published entry pricing, Bright Data for a broad enterprise toolset, Decodo for a simpler subscription-style setup, or Zyte when you want the provider to manage proxy selection, retries, ban detection, browser support and extraction.

NetNut itself now presents a broader baseline than a proxy pool alone: HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 access, rotating or sticky sessions, unlimited concurrency, global coverage, scraping APIs, ready-to-use datasets and a stated 99.9% request success rate. Compare alternatives against that complete workload rather than against IP-count marketing alone.

What NetNut sets as the baseline

A fair replacement must match the part of NetNut you actually use. A team buying raw access needs different controls from a team consuming a managed scraper or a finished dataset.

  • Connection layer: NetNut lists HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 proxies, rotating sessions and sticky sessions.
  • Scale: Its homepage states unlimited concurrency and global coverage.
  • Managed collection: NetNut combines proxies with scraping APIs and ready-to-use datasets.
  • Reliability claim: The homepage states a 99.9% request success rate. Treat that as a vendor-reported figure, not a directly comparable benchmark; target, country, session length and workload can change the result.

The alternatives below solve different portions of that stack. Decide first whether you need IP control, browser-level unblocking, structured extraction, or data that is already collected.

Oxylabs prices are volatile and should be checked on its current pricing page before procurement. The figures above are entry prices shown by the cited product page, not a guarantee of your final bill.

SOAX: the closest like-for-like replacement

SOAX is the strongest first comparison when you want one supplier to cover both proxy access and managed collection. Its documented product mix includes residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter proxies, scraping APIs, a Web Data API and an AI Scraper. The provider states a footprint of more than 195 countries.

That combination maps most closely to NetNut’s proxy-plus-API positioning. It is relevant for public-data collection, ecommerce and price monitoring, consumer-trend analysis and SEO monitoring. A Web Data API or AI Scraper can reduce the browser and parser code your team must maintain, while raw proxy products preserve more control for custom crawlers.

Where SOAX fits

  • Choose it for a mixed workload that alternates between direct proxy sessions and managed extraction.
  • Use it when country breadth matters and you want a stated global footprint.
  • Consider it for teams that need both recurring data feeds and ad-hoc collection.

Questions to ask before switching

  • Can the plan target the cities, autonomous systems or ZIP-level locations your jobs require?
  • How are sticky-session duration, rotation triggers and concurrency limits enforced?
  • What consent, sourcing and data-governance documentation is available for your jurisdictions?
  • Are API responses billed per request, per data unit, per bandwidth unit or by subscription?

Oxylabs: enterprise scale with visible entry pricing

Oxylabs is a strong alternative when you prefer a large managed service catalog and want at least some public price anchors. Its product page lists residential proxies from $6 per gigabyte and a Web Scraper API from $49 per month. It also lists Web Unblocker, mobile proxies, ISP proxies and SOCKS5 proxies.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Web Unblocker and the Web Scraper API address teams that would rather hand over parts of browser, retry and anti-blocking work than operate a raw pool. SOCKS5 and the other proxy types leave room for applications that need protocol-level control. The product page describes the goal as “Large-scale scraping without IP blocks,” but that phrase is a positioning statement, not a workload-independent guarantee.

Best fit

  • Enterprise collection pipelines with several target types and a need for managed options.
  • Buyers who need a published starting point for budget planning.
  • Teams that may combine raw residential, mobile or ISP access with a managed unblocking layer.

Cost discipline

Do not compare the $6/GB proxy entry price directly with the $49/month API entry price. They meter different products. Request a sample invoice showing bandwidth, requests, browser time, retries, minimum commitments and overages for your expected workload.

Bright Data: breadth and operational controls

Bright Data is the broad enterprise alternative in this group. Its documented catalog includes residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter proxies, plus Unlocker and Proxy Manager tools.

That breadth is useful when one project needs several network types or when operators want a separate management layer for routing and policy. Unlocker is the managed path; Proxy Manager is the control point for teams that want to organize proxy behavior in their own stack. Bright Data’s product pages do not state a single public price, success rate or geographic granularity, so obtain those values for the exact products you would deploy.

Evaluate the operational fit

  • Map each target to the required network type instead of sending every request through the most expensive pool.
  • Confirm how rotation, sticky sessions, authentication and failure handling are configured in Proxy Manager.
  • Ask what support and service-level commitments apply to your contract tier.

Decodo: a simpler subscription-oriented path

Decodo, formerly Smartproxy, is positioned as a simpler option with residential and datacenter proxies, session rotation and scraping tools. It can suit a team that wants standard rotating access and a managed scraping surface without assembling a larger enterprise toolchain.

The available product description does not establish mobile or ISP coverage, city-level controls, a public price, or a universal concurrency figure. If those details matter, treat them as procurement questions rather than assumptions.

Choose Decodo when

  • Your main requirement is residential or datacenter access with straightforward rotation.
  • You prefer a subscription-oriented buying process.
  • Your developers want scraping tools but do not need the broadest documented product catalog.

Zyte: let the API manage the hard parts

Zyte takes the most managed approach. Zyte API handles proxy selection and rotation, retries, ban detection, browser support and extraction. That can remove substantial infrastructure from a crawler team: you submit a target and consume a response instead of designing every proxy, browser and parser decision yourself.

The trade-off is control. If your application needs a particular proxy protocol, a long-lived sticky identity, custom routing or low-level connection diagnostics, confirm that the API exposes it before migrating. Zyte is most compelling when reliable extraction is more important than owning each network decision.

Match the provider to the workload

Workload First alternatives to evaluate Reason
Large-scale public-data collection SOAX or Oxylabs Both combine broad proxy offerings with managed scraping products; Oxylabs also publishes entry pricing for two products.
Ecommerce and price monitoring SOAX, Oxylabs or Zyte SOAX documents data APIs and an AI Scraper; Oxylabs offers a Web Scraper API and Web Unblocker; Zyte handles retries, ban detection and extraction.
SEO and SERP monitoring SOAX or Decodo SOAX explicitly identifies SEO monitoring as a use case, while Decodo offers a simpler rotating-proxy and scraping-tool path.
Ad verification, cybersecurity or brand protection Bright Data or Oxylabs The documented use cases include these workloads, and both offer several proxy types plus managed tooling.
Finished datasets rather than crawling infrastructure NetNut first, then SOAX NetNut explicitly combines ready-to-use datasets with proxies and APIs; SOAX documents a Web Data API but not a matching dataset catalog in the material here.

Eight checks to run before signing a replacement

1. Proxy types and sourcing

Record whether you need residential, mobile, ISP, datacenter or SOCKS5 access. Ask how addresses are sourced, what consent documentation is available, and whether the provider can document the countries you will use.

2. Geographic targeting

Country targeting is not the same as city, ASN or ZIP-level targeting. Put the exact locations in a written trial and record the observed exit geography for every request.

3. Anti-bot behavior

Ask whether the managed product supports browser rendering, CAPTCHA handling, fingerprint management, retries and session persistence. A raw proxy endpoint should not be assumed to include those capabilities.

4. Managed API versus raw control

Managed APIs reduce code and maintenance but may hide routing decisions. Raw proxies provide flexibility but leave browser, parser and retry engineering with you. Choose per target rather than forcing one mode across the whole platform.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Concurrency and sticky sessions

Define peak parallel requests, desired session lifetime, rotation rules and failure recovery. “Unlimited concurrency” or “rotation” without a workload definition is not a useful comparison.

6. Metering

Normalize each quote to the same unit: successful pages, rendered pages, gigabytes, API calls, browser minutes or completed records. Include retries and failed attempts in the model and ask whether cache hits are charged.

7. Compliance and governance

Review acceptable-use terms, consent and sourcing records, retention, deletion, logging and regional processing. Give your legal and security reviewers the exact product and countries, not just the vendor name.

8. Support and integration

Test SDKs, authentication, status codes, webhooks, observability and escalation paths during the trial. An API that is easy to call but difficult to diagnose can cost more than a higher nominal rate.

A practical migration plan from NetNut

  1. Inventory current jobs. Export target domains, countries, protocols, session lifetimes, concurrency, request volume, response formats and failure reasons.
  2. Separate workloads. Label each job as raw proxy traffic, browser-rendered extraction, structured API data or dataset consumption.
  3. Select an equivalent mode. Start with SOAX for the closest combined model; test Oxylabs, Bright Data, Decodo or Zyte where their documented strengths fit better.
  4. Build an adapter. Keep provider credentials, endpoint construction, rotation policy and parser logic behind one internal interface. Do not scatter vendor-specific parameters through application code.
  5. Run a canary. Use identical URLs, locations, concurrency and session rules against NetNut and the candidate. Record HTTP status, challenge rate, parse completeness, latency, bandwidth and billable units.
  6. Test failure paths. Force timeouts, empty pages, blocked responses and expired sessions. Verify retries do not multiply costs or duplicate records.
  7. Cut over gradually. Shift one workload or geography at a time, retain a rollback route, and compare quality and spend for a full business cycle before decommissioning NetNut.

Troubleshooting common migration failures

Requests succeed but content is a challenge page

Cause: an HTTP 200 response was counted as success even though the body contains a CAPTCHA or bot-check page. Fix: validate content, not only status codes; use a browser or managed unblocking product where the target requires it; and record challenge pages separately from clean responses.

The location is wrong

Cause: country targeting was treated as city or ASN targeting, or the session reused an old exit. Fix: specify the required granularity in the order, verify the observed IP geography, and rotate or recreate the session when the target requires a fresh identity.

Login state disappears between requests

Cause: rotation is occurring more often than the application session can tolerate. Fix: request sticky-session behavior, persist the required cookies, and test the maximum supported session duration before increasing concurrency.

Costs rise faster than page volume

Cause: retries, browser rendering, failed attempts or bandwidth are metered differently from successful records. Fix: instrument every attempt and response, cap retries, cache immutable pages where allowed, and reconcile provider usage with your own request log.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Extraction quality falls after the switch

Cause: the new provider returns a different browser state, timing, HTML structure or JavaScript execution result. Fix: compare raw responses and rendered screenshots for a fixed URL set, add explicit waits for required selectors, and keep parser changes separate from proxy changes.

Marketing metrics do not match your trial

Cause: success, uptime and pool-size figures were measured under different targets, countries or workloads. Fix: publish your own acceptance thresholds and require each vendor to report the same denominator and failure categories.

Need screenshots rather than proxy sessions? Try ScreenshotNeo first

ScreenshotNeo is not a NetNut replacement for IP rotation or structured web extraction. It is the better first alternative when the deliverable is a clean visual capture of a page, element or PDF. One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF, and its MCP server lets Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients call take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf.

Before capture, ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie and consent banners as a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed; the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Relevant options include full-page capture with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets or any viewport, retina scale, paper size and page ranges for PDFs, custom CSS and JavaScript, pre-capture clicks, selector or network-idle waits, ad and tracker blocking, custom headers, cookies, user agents, Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable cache TTLs, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. Existing parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify a migration.

Or skip the browser setup:

Use the API shown in the ScreenshotNeo documentation:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; and the MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

Bottom line

Start with SOAX if you want the nearest documented NetNut-style combination of proxy types and managed data products. Select Oxylabs for an enterprise catalog with visible entry pricing, Bright Data for breadth and operational controls, Decodo for a simpler subscription setup, or Zyte when you want the API to own proxy selection, retries, browser handling and extraction. Run the same target-and-workload trial against every finalist, because provider headline metrics are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a finished dataset replace a scraping API?

Only when your required fields, refresh schedule and geographic coverage are already available. If you need new targets, custom timing or page-level control, retain an API or proxy workflow.

Should one provider handle every target domain?

Not necessarily. A managed API may be efficient for browser-heavy sites, while raw residential, ISP or datacenter access can be better for a simpler target. Route by workload and document the policy.

What evidence should a vendor provide during a trial?

Request target-level results showing clean-response rate, challenge rate, latency, retries, geographic accuracy, billable units and parser completeness under the same concurrency and session rules you will use in production.
