Netflix’s 2025 movie lineup included major sequels, book adaptations, international productions, animated features and awards-season dramas. The most important correction to the original “every movie” framing is scope: this guide covers prominent Netflix originals and Netflix-distributed feature films announced for 2025, not every licensed movie added to the service worldwide.
Release dates and rights can differ by country. Where Netflix announced only a month or season, that window is shown instead of being presented as an exact date. Netflix also notes that a title can be a Netflix original in one territory but have different rights arrangements elsewhere. Check the film’s Netflix detail page for local availability and timing.

Netflix’s official January 2025 announcement is the strongest source for the planned slate, while its later Tudum recap confirmed the December 12 global Netflix premiere for Wake Up Dead Man. The early Collider roundup remains useful for identifying additional titles, but it mixed confirmed dates with approximate windows and contained at least one apparent date error.
January–March: early-year releases and animation
Back in Action
This Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx action comedy was associated with Netflix’s 2025 lineup, but the early slate article listed January 17, 2024—a date inconsistent with its 2025 framing. It should not be treated as a 2025 release date without checking Netflix’s title page. The film is included here as a date-correction note, not as confirmation of a 2025 premiere.

Kinda Pregnant — February 5
Amy Schumer stars in this comedy directed by Tyler Spindel. The February 5 date came from the early 2025 slate listing and should be distinguished from dates later confirmed by Netflix.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep — February 11
This animated feature expands Netflix’s The Witcher universe, with Doug Cockle voicing Geralt. Its early listed date was February 11, 2025.
Plankton: The Movie — March 7
The animated SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off centers on Plankton. The early slate listed March 7, 2025.
April–June: action, comedy and horror
The Electric State
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, The Electric State stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. It is set in an alternate 1994 shaped by a conflict between humans and robots and is based on Simon Stålenhag’s illustrated book. Netflix identified it as one of its major 2025 films, but the supplied slate evidence does not establish a final date here.
Havoc
Gareth Evans directs this hard-edged action thriller starring Tom Hardy. Netflix initially described the film’s arrival as spring 2025, while the early listing supplied April 25. Because those represent different levels of certainty, April 25 should be treated as an early listed date unless confirmed on Netflix’s final title page.
Fear Street: Prom Queen
Matt Palmer’s horror film returns to Shadyside High for a prom set in 1988. Netflix announced a summer 2025 window; the early slate listed May 23. It belongs to Netflix’s continuing Fear Street film universe.

The Old Guard 2 — July 2
Charlize Theron returned for this sequel to Netflix’s immortal-warrior action film. Netflix’s January announcement specified July 2, 2025. It is one of the clearest examples of a sequel-led release in the 2025 lineup.
Madea’s Destination Wedding
Tyler Perry’s eleventh Madea film was announced for 2025. The early slate listed July 11, but the supplied evidence does not independently confirm that as the final Netflix date.
Happy Gilmore 2
Adam Sandler returned to his golf-comedy character in this sequel directed by Kyle Newacheck. Netflix featured the film at Tudum 2025, confirming its importance within the slate. The early listing supplied July 25, but a final date should be checked against Netflix’s title information rather than assumed from the preliminary roundup.
The Thursday Murder Club — August 28
Chris Columbus directs this adaptation of Richard Osman’s mystery novel. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie lead the cast. The early slate listed August 28, 2025.

People We Meet on Vacation
Emily Bader and Tom Blyth star in this adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel. The early 2025 slate did not provide a confirmed date, so it should be listed as a 2025 project rather than assigned a precise premiere day without a later official confirmation.

October–December: prestige films and major mysteries
A House of Dynamite
Netflix first announced this as an untitled film from Kathryn Bigelow, with a fall 2025 window. It was subsequently identified as A House of Dynamite. Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso and Jared Harris star. The renamed title and the original untitled announcement should not be treated as two separate films.
The Woman in Cabin 10
Keira Knightley and Guy Pearce star in this adaptation of Ruth Ware’s novel. Netflix announced a fall 2025 window, without supplying an exact date in the cited slate material.
Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro adapted Mary Shelley’s classic, with Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz among the announced cast. Netflix gave the film a November 2025 window. It should be labeled as a theatrical-plus-Netflix release rather than a Netflix-only film because a theatrical window was expected before streaming.
Jay Kelly
Noah Baumbach directed this drama starring George Clooney, Adam Sandler and Laura Dern. Netflix initially announced it as an untitled Baumbach project and later revealed the title Jay Kelly. Netflix’s official announcement gave a fall window; the early slate listed December 5, but the supplied evidence does not establish that as the final date.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery — December 12
The film commonly called “Knives Out 3” is officially titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Rian Johnson returned to direct the third Benoit Blanc mystery, with Daniel Craig reprising the role. Netflix later confirmed a global premiere on December 12, 2025. “Global” refers to Netflix’s announcement; local catalog rights can still vary for other titles.
The Ballad of a Small Player
Edward Berger directed this adaptation of Lawrence Osborne’s novel, starring Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton. It was included in the 2025 slate, but the supplied early listing did not provide a confirmed date.

Benjamin Caron directed this adaptation of Willy Vlautin’s novel, with Vanessa Kirby starring. It was announced as a 2025 title without a precise date in the cited material.

In Your Dreams
This animated family adventure came from talent associated with Over the Moon and The Sea Beast. Netflix included it in its 2025 slate, but the available announcement did not specify an exact release day.
K-Pop: Demon Hunters
The premise follows a K-pop girl group living double lives as demon hunters. Netflix announced the animated feature for 2025; the early listing did not yet have a confirmed voice cast or exact date.
Pookoo
Skydance Animation’s buddy comedy pairs a woodland creature with a bird. It was listed for 2025 without a confirmed date.
The Twits
Phil Johnston directed this animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book. Netflix included it among its 2025 projects, but the cited slate information supplied no exact date.

Netflix also highlighted a Korean film slate featuring Revelations, Good News, The Great Flood, Wall to Wall, Love Untangled, Mantis and Lost in Starlight. These titles demonstrate why “every Netflix movie” needs a geography and definition note: a film can be a Netflix original in one market, have a different distribution arrangement elsewhere, or be announced for a year without the early slate providing a final date.
What is—and is not—a Netflix movie?
- Netflix original
- A film Netflix produced, commissioned or distributed under an original arrangement. The exact status may differ by territory.
- Netflix premiere
- A film whose first public release is on Netflix.
- Netflix streaming release
- A film that may first play at festivals or in theaters before arriving on Netflix.
- Licensed addition
- A pre-existing movie added to Netflix’s catalog. Licensed additions are excluded from this slate because they would make a worldwide “every movie” list too large and unstable.
Frankenstein illustrates the distinction: it was positioned for a theatrical window before Netflix. A festival premiere, limited theatrical run and Netflix debut are separate milestones and should not be collapsed into one date.
How Netflix release timing works
Netflix originals generally become available at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, although Netflix says launch times can vary. The title’s detail page and the service’s Coming Soon section are the practical final references. A reminder feature can also notify subscribers when a title becomes available. Availability, subtitles, dubbing and release rights may differ by country.

Why early slate lists need updating
The January 2025 roundup was an advance guide, not a definitive worldwide archive. It combined exact dates, month-only windows, seasonal estimates and “TBA” entries. Titles were also renamed, moved between windows or announced later through separate Netflix updates. The clearest example is “Knives Out 3,” whose official name became Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
For that reason, the most accurate way to read the list is by status: confirmed exact date, confirmed month, confirmed season, announced for 2025 with date pending, or an early date requiring final verification. That approach is more useful than presenting every preliminary date as settled fact.
