If myAudi is not showing your Audi’s location, first check that you selected the right vehicle, your account is authorized as a Key User or Secondary User, and the car is allowed to share connected-service data. Then park where the vehicle has cellular and GPS reception, switch it off, lock it, wait a few minutes, and refresh the app.
myAudi generally shows a parked or last-reported location—not a live map of a moving car. A missing or stale position can also reflect vehicle compatibility, Audi connect service status, a profile or privacy setting, or a telematics issue.
What the myAudi location feature shows
The normal myAudi location feature is for finding where you parked, not watching the vehicle move in real time. Audi describes it as retrieving the vehicle’s last known position after it is switched off and locked. The saved position remains until the vehicle reports a new one. Audi’s U.S. explanation of remote vehicle access and its Audi connect data-protection notice describe these limits.
That distinction matters when the map looks wrong: myAudi may be showing an older parked position because the car has not successfully sent a newer one. It is not necessarily displaying the car’s current whereabouts.

If the Audi has been stolen, do not use myAudi to track or recover it. Audi warns against using Locate my Audi for that purpose. Contact law enforcement and follow Audi’s official assistance process; do not approach a suspected stolen vehicle based on an app location. See Audi’s myAudi app information.
Quick checks
- In myAudi, select the correct vehicle and confirm its VIN.
- Check Vehicle → All functions → User management and confirm that your account is the Key User or an authorized Secondary User.
- Check that the vehicle’s privacy or data-sharing setting allows connected services.
- Take the car somewhere with good outdoor reception, drive briefly, then park, switch it off, and lock it.
- Wait several minutes and reopen or refresh the vehicle page in myAudi.
- Check Audi connect service eligibility and status for that VIN.
- If the app itself appears stale, update it, force-close and reopen it, or sign out and back in.
1. Confirm the right account and user role
Remote vehicle functions can depend on authorization, not just whether the car appears in the app. Select the correct Audi, then open Vehicle → All functions → User management. Confirm that you are listed as the Key User or that the Key User has authorized you as a Secondary User. Audi explains these roles and vehicle functions in its myAudi vehicle-functions guide.
This is especially worth checking if the car was bought used, another driver set it up, or the problem began after changing accounts, phones, drivers, or MMI profiles. A previous owner’s Key User association may need to be cleared, or the new owner may need to complete Audi’s registration and verification process. Audi’s Key User registration guide describes steps that can include a Key User agreement, identity verification, a four-digit PIN, and dealer verification using a Contract ID. Follow the instructions for your vehicle and account; do not remove and re-add the car as a first resort.

2. Check Privacy Mode, Privacy, or Mobile data
A vehicle privacy setting can prevent it from sending data to Audi connect, leaving location and other remote information unavailable. In myAudi, look under All functions → Privacy or a similarly named privacy control. The exact label and menu vary by model year and MMI version; the owner’s manual for your Audi takes precedence over a generic menu path. Audi’s myAudi overview and remote-access guidance describe privacy controls.
Some newer vehicles use a Mobile data setting in the MMI. For example, Audi’s instructions for the 2025 A6 e-tron give this path: MMI → App Selector → Settings → Privacy settings → Mobile data → ON. This is a model-specific example, not a universal path. Audi also notes that, on that model, Mobile data can be off for the Guest profile or a newly created local profile; make sure the car is using the appropriate retained profile. Turning privacy restrictions off enables data sharing for connected functions. If you choose to disable sharing, remote status and location features may stop working. Audi explains the broader implications in its vehicle privacy information.

3. Give the car a chance to report a new parked position
The vehicle needs a usable GPS signal and cellular connectivity to send connected-service information. A concrete garage, underground parking area, weak-signal location, or vehicle connectivity problem can delay or prevent a fresh report. Audi lists cellular connectivity, compatible hardware, and GPS availability among myAudi service requirements; see its Audi connect service qualifications.
Try this simple diagnostic test:
- Move the Audi outdoors or to an area with reliable cellular coverage.
- Start the vehicle and let the MMI finish loading.
- Confirm that the correct driver profile is active and that privacy or Mobile data settings permit connected services.
- Drive a short distance, park, switch off the vehicle, and lock it.
- Wait several minutes, then reopen myAudi and refresh the vehicle page.
This is a practical test, not a guarantee that every Audi reports on a fixed schedule. If the map updates after this test, the earlier location may have been stale or the original parking place may have blocked reception.
4. Check whether your Audi and service support location
Not every Audi has the same myAudi features. Availability depends on the vehicle’s model, equipment, connected hardware, software, service configuration, and GPS and cellular availability. Some services may require a trial or paid subscription, and availability and pricing can vary by VIN. Audi’s vehicle and Key User overview notes that some functions require specific telematics equipment. Its service disclaimer explains the broader eligibility conditions.

In the app, select the correct vehicle and review All functions and the Audi connect service or license information available for it. Sign in and add your VIN to check which services and pricing apply; Audi does not publish one universal price for all vehicles. You can also consult the owner’s manual for your model and year. A subscription will not fix disabled data sharing, poor reception, unsupported equipment, or a failed telematics module, so check those basics too.

- Force-close and reopen myAudi.
- Check that your phone has internet access; test over Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- Update myAudi from your device’s official app store and restart the phone.
- Sign out and back in if you know the correct account credentials.
Reinstalling may help with an app-only problem, but it cannot restore the car’s cellular connection, GPS reception, Key User authorization, or an expired service. Before reinstalling, make sure you know the account credentials and any required PIN. Avoid deleting the vehicle from the account unless Audi support instructs you to do so.

6. Consider the older Audi Motion service edge case
Some older U.S. Audi vehicles used the separate Motion for Audi connect program in response to the 3G shutdown. Audi says replacement Motion devices have reached the end of their intended service life, and deactivation removes associated functions, including vehicle-location services. This does not mean every older Audi has lost location support: the outcome depends on the vehicle and its equipment. If location and other Motion-related features disappeared together, check whether you received an Audi notice and confirm the VIN-specific status on Audi’s Motion for Audi connect page. Do not confuse the separate Motion app or service with the current myAudi app.

When to contact Audi
Contact Audi connect support or an Audi dealer if the vehicle has a clear outdoor signal, the correct user and privacy settings are in place, the service is eligible and active, and a fresh park-and-lock test still does not update vehicle data. If status and remote functions work but location remains stale, explain that distinction: it points toward a location-specific reporting issue rather than a general app login problem.
Audi USA lists Audi connect support at 1-800-822-2834. Its contact page gives general customer-service hours as Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Eastern Time; check the current contact page for support options.

Have your VIN, model and model year, myAudi account email, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time of the last successful update ready. Tell support whether other vehicle data or remote functions work, whether you are the Key User, whether privacy or Mobile data is enabled, where the car was parked, and what the app shows for Audi connect service status.
If you need continuous tracking, fleet monitoring, or a separate recovery device, standard myAudi parked-location service is not a substitute. Consider alternatives only after checking their lawful use, consent requirements, cellular coverage, installation, and ongoing costs.
