Yes—MSN Weather received a dark-mode option, but the documented story is historical, not a new Windows 10 rollout. A contemporaneous report dated April 5, 2017 identified app version 4.20.933.0 and said it was initially available to Windows Insider Fast ring users on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.
What the 2017 MSN Weather update changed
The update was for the MSN Weather app, not a Windows 10 operating-system feature release. The report described a dark-mode option in the app’s Settings section, alongside bug fixes and performance improvements. Its version number, platform coverage and initial availability were reported by The Win Central on April 5, 2017; no first-party Microsoft changelog for that specific build is established here.
The report named both Windows 10 PCs and Windows 10 Mobile, but that does not mean the interfaces or settings were identical. The appearance and placement of controls could vary by device and build.

The reported version was 4.20.933.0, initially released to participants in the Windows Insider Fast ring. It should not be described as an update that every Windows 10 user received at the same time. Fast ring software was prerelease: features could change, contain bugs, or arrive at different times on different Insider devices. The report does not establish when, or whether, the same option reached the stable channel.

How to look for the app’s dark-mode option
- Open the original MSN Weather app on the Windows 10 device.
- Open the app’s Settings panel.
- Look for a dark-mode or theme option and select it if present.
- If the display does not update immediately, close and reopen the app.
The historical report confirms an option in Settings but does not document a precise menu path or a definitive control label. The wording and location may differ by app build, language and device. These steps do not establish that a current MSN Weather website or later app package has the same control.
Why the Windows dark theme is not the same thing
Windows 10 has a system-level dark-app setting, but that setting does not prove that a specific app version has its own dark-mode switch. Microsoft notes that not all applications support dark mode, and its developer guidance explains that apps need to implement theme behavior themselves.

If the dark-mode control is missing
- Different release channel: The report identifies the Fast ring, so a non-Insider or different-ring installation may not have received that build.
- Different app build: The installed version may not be 4.20.933.0, and the historical report does not confirm that the feature persisted in later packages.
- Different experience: A website, newer Microsoft Store package or other Windows weather surface is not necessarily the original Windows 10 UWP app.
- Package refresh: If the device is expected to have the relevant Store app, check for an available app update; this cannot guarantee that the historical option is still distributed.
- System theme only: Turning on Windows dark mode may not change an app that does not honor the system setting.
Microsoft’s current MSN Weather support page describes app settings and personalized weather information, but does not document the legacy UWP version or confirm its dark-mode control.

Is MSN Weather dark mode still available on Windows 10?
Current availability is not established. The evidence identifies a 2017 Fast ring release; Microsoft’s present MSN Weather support material does not provide a Windows 10 version history or availability matrix for that old package. It therefore cannot confirm whether version 4.20.933.0 can still be installed, whether later Windows 10 builds retain the switch, or whether a current installation uses the same app.
