Motorola launched the Moto G54 5G and Moto G84 5G in Brazil on September 14, 2023, with prices starting at R$1,499 and R$1,999, respectively. Both went on sale that day through Motorola’s online store and retail channels. The G84’s higher price bought a pOLED display and a more versatile camera setup, not a faster processor: both phones use MediaTek’s Dimensity 7020.
Current status: Motorola’s Brazilian product pages now mark both models as discontinued. Their launch prices below are historical, not current recommended retail prices; new old stock, used, and refurbished availability can vary.
Brazil launch prices and configurations
Motorola’s Brazilian announcement said the phones were available “from today,” and contemporaneous coverage dated the launch to September 14, 2023. The prices applied to Brazilian configurations and should not be confused with prices or specifications for versions sold in other countries. Motorola specified vegan-leather finishes for selected colorways; it did not mean every color had that finish. The buds bundle was described for Motorola’s own sales channels, so buyers should not assume third-party retailers included the earbuds.

Moto G54 5G: the lower-cost option
The G54 paired 5G connectivity with the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 and a 5,000 mAh battery. Its 6.5-inch LCD screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and compatible content look smoother than on a standard-refresh display. The LCD is the clearest everyday compromise against the G84’s OLED panel.
The rear camera system consists of a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro camera; the front camera is 16 MP. The Brazilian launch materials also list stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The macro sensor is a basic close-up option rather than the more flexible wide-angle camera offered on the G84.
At launch, buyers could choose between 4 GB/128 GB and 8 GB/256 GB. Confirm the exact memory and storage variant in any listing: marketplace pages may omit the distinction. If a listing advertises a higher total RAM figure through Motorola’s RAM Boost or similar virtual-memory feature, that does not mean the phone has that amount of physical RAM.

For Brazilian buyers, NFC availability is also worth checking explicitly on the exact unit, particularly when contactless payments matter; regional specifications can differ.

Moto G84 5G: the screen and camera upgrade
The G84 also uses the Dimensity 7020 and a 5,000 mAh battery, so its higher launch price did not buy a different core processor or a larger stated battery. Its main upgrade is a 6.5-inch 120 Hz pOLED display. Motorola advertised 10-bit color, DCI-P3 coverage and up to 1,300 nits of brightness; the brightness figure is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured sustained result.
Its rear system combines a 50 MP main camera with Quad Pixel technology and optical image stabilization, plus an 8 MP camera that serves ultrawide, macro and depth functions. The front camera is 16 MP. Compared with the G54’s 2 MP macro sensor, the G84’s secondary camera is more useful for framing wider scenes as well as close-ups. Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and NFC round out the listed features. The phone supports TurboPower charging, though charging performance can depend on the included or compatible charger.
Motorola offered the G84 in Viva Magenta, Blue and Graphite, with vegan leather on specified finishes. The R$2,199 option bundled moto buds 135 with the phone through Motorola’s own channels; the standalone phone launched at R$1,999.

Moto G54 vs. Moto G84: what the extra R$200 bought

Compared with the 8 GB/256 GB G54, the G84 cost R$200 more at launch. That premium mainly paid for OLED contrast and color, optical stabilization on the main camera, a more capable secondary camera, and a more polished design and audio package. It was not a substantial raw-performance upgrade, since the two share the same processor platform.

At launch, the G54 made more sense for buyers focused on price, 5G, battery capacity and storage. The G84 was the stronger choice if screen quality, camera versatility, NFC, stereo audio or its finish justified the small price step. If comparing the base G54 at R$1,499 with the G84, remember that the less expensive model also had half the storage and half the physical RAM of the G84 configuration.

As of August 2026, Motorola’s Brazilian product pages identify both phones as discontinued. Motorola’s G54 page says it was replaced by the Moto G56, while its G84 page names the Moto G86 as replacement. Those successor names provide a starting point for comparison, but no current price or live stock claim follows from the historical launch report. The G84 product page appears to give a September 2024 launch date, which conflicts with Motorola’s original 2023 announcement and contemporary reporting. The September 14, 2023 Brazilian launch date is supported by the contemporaneous Showmetech report as well as Motorola’s announcement; the later store-page date should not be used as the launch date.
If considering either phone as used, refurbished, open-box or old stock, compare its actual asking price with newer models rather than treating the 2023 launch price as a current value benchmark. Check the exact Brazilian model and RAM/storage configuration, NFC, warranty and return terms, whether the box has been opened, and the security-patch date. For a used phone, battery condition matters more than the original 5,000 mAh rating, which describes the battery when new. Imported versions may differ in network bands, NFC, charger, software build and warranty. Neither model should be assumed to have a particular remaining Android or security-update period without checking the specific device and region.
