For most buyers, the Moto G35 5G is the better pick if it costs about the same as the Moto G34 5G. Its 6.72-inch Full HD+ display is much sharper, and its 8MP ultrawide camera is more useful than the G34’s 2MP secondary camera. But the G35 is not a guaranteed performance upgrade: it uses a Unisoc T760, while the G34 has a Snapdragon 695. The G34 can make more sense at a steep discount, or if its specific regional version has NFC, storage or SIM features missing from the G35 on offer.
Already own a G34? The G35 is a noticeable screen and camera-flexibility upgrade, not an automatic reason to replace a working phone. Check the exact model and local specifications before buying either one: Motorola sells market-specific variants with differences in NFC, memory, SIM support and other details.

Before purchase, confirm the exact model number and full listing for your market, especially for NFC, RAM and storage, eSIM, water-resistance rating, camera video modes and included charger.

Motorola’s G35 specifications and another regional G35 specification page, as well as its G34 specifications and regional G34 page, illustrate why a single global specification table can mislead.

Display: the G35’s clearest win
Both phones advertise a 120Hz refresh rate, so both can scroll smoothly. Refresh rate is not the same as resolution, though. The G35’s 2400 × 1080 panel is substantially sharper than the G34’s 1600 × 720 screen: small text, fine detail in photos and high-resolution video have more pixels to work with. The G35 also has a larger 6.72-inch viewing area, compared with 6.5 inches on the G34.
That difference matters most if you read, browse, view detailed images or stream a lot of video. The G34’s 120Hz screen can still feel fluid, but its lower resolution remains visible in fine detail. Some G35 regional specifications also advertise HDR10 and peak brightness up to 1,000 nits. Treat those as variant-specific claims rather than universal features, and check the official specification for the exact phone you are buying.
Display verdict: Moto G35. This is the strongest reason to choose it over the G34.
Performance: don’t assume the newer model is faster
The G35 runs on the Unisoc T760; the G34 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G. Both are 6nm-class, eight-core platforms, but a newer phone name or chipset label does not settle which will perform better in every app, game or sustained workload. Performance also depends on software, memory configuration, storage and thermal behaviour.

For calls, messaging, streaming, navigation and ordinary browsing, either can be suitable. Buyers who play demanding games, multitask heavily or care about sustained performance should look for independent tests of the specific versions available to them. One Tech Advisor review of the G35 notes its sharper display alongside relatively slow processing; that is useful context, but it is not a direct head-to-head test of every regional G35 and G34 configuration.
Pay attention to physical RAM. Both phones are sold in different memory configurations by market, and a 4GB version may feel more constrained when several apps are open than an 8GB version. Motorola’s RAM Boost uses storage as virtual memory; it is not equivalent to having more physical RAM. Compare the stated physical RAM and internal storage, not a combined figure that includes virtual memory.
Performance verdict: no universal winner on the available evidence. The G34’s Snapdragon 695 may suit a buyer who prefers that platform, but do not assume it wins every task either. Check tests for the workload and exact SKU that matter to you.

Cameras: G35 gives you a more useful second view
Both phones have a 50MP main camera in documented configurations, along with a 16MP front camera. Those numbers do not establish which takes better photos: processing, focus, exposure, low-light handling, skin tones, motion and stabilization all affect the result.

The clearer hardware distinction is on the back. The G35 has an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view on documented variants. It can fit more of a landscape, group or room into the frame. The G34’s documented 2MP secondary camera is a much more limited alternative, intended for close-up or depth-related use. For most people, an ultrawide adds more shooting flexibility.
Some G35 specifications list rear video recording up to UHD at 30fps, while the documented G34 specification lists Full HD at 30fps. That capability can vary by market or firmware; check the local specification rather than treating it as universal. Neither camera setup should be judged from megapixels alone.
Camera verdict: G35 for versatility, especially the ultrawide. The specifications do not prove that its 50MP main camera is dramatically better than the G34’s.
Battery and charging: similar capacity, little reason to choose on paper
Both phones are listed with 5,000mAh batteries. Capacity alone cannot predict endurance: brightness, refresh rate, network conditions, apps, temperature and chipset all matter. The G34’s lower-resolution display may use less power in some situations, while the G35’s newer platform and display tuning may offset some of the difference. There is no basis here for promising a fixed number of days of use without a controlled test.

The G35 is generally specified for 18W charging. The G34 also supports 18W device charging, although some regional packages include a 20W charger. A 20W adapter in the box does not mean the phone itself charges at 20W; charger inclusion also varies by market and seller. Neither offers especially fast charging by current standards.
Battery verdict: tie on capacity; real-world life depends on use. Charging is close enough that it should rarely determine the choice.

The G34 is shorter, slightly narrower and generally lighter, so it is the more manageable option if you prefer a smaller phone. The G35’s larger screen is better for media and reading, but the phone itself is taller and wider. Neither is a genuinely small handset by current standards; a case adds bulk to either one.
Motorola describes water-repellent or splash-resistant construction, with IP52 or IP54 appearing in some regional materials. These ratings and descriptions are not an invitation to submerge either phone or use it for swimming. Verify the rating for your exact variant and keep water exposure to a minimum.

Both have documented USB-C ports using USB 2.0 data speeds. A 3.5mm headphone jack appears on documented variants, but check the local model before relying on it. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version, supported 5G bands, SIM arrangement and other connectivity details may differ by region.
Check NFC, eSIM and network compatibility before importing
NFC is a particularly important variation: Motorola’s own pages list it for some regional versions of each phone and omit it for others. If you use contactless payments, confirm NFC for the exact model number rather than relying on the phone name or a generic product listing. You can also search Settings for NFC after receiving the phone, but it is better to confirm before purchase.
SIM arrangements vary too. Some listings show eSIM alongside a physical SIM; others describe hybrid dual-physical-SIM configurations. For an imported handset, check supported cellular bands, carrier compatibility, eSIM activation, warranty coverage and the seller’s return policy. A phone with the same commercial name may not have the configuration you expect in your country.

Do not assume memory configurations are interchangeable across markets. The G35 is commonly sold with 128GB storage and may have 4GB or 8GB of physical RAM. The G34 appears in configurations including 64GB or 128GB storage, and some regions have 8GB/256GB versions. Both have documented microSD expansion up to 1TB. A larger card is useful for media and files, but it does not turn into faster internal storage or additional physical RAM.
Both launched with Android 14. That does not, by itself, establish the current installed Android version, a promised number of major upgrades or a security-support end date. Update status and timing can vary by model, country and carrier. Check Motorola’s security-update information page for the relevant product and region, and distinguish a published upgrade commitment from an update that has actually rolled out to your phone.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose the Moto G35 if prices are close. Its Full HD+ display and ultrawide camera are the clearest everyday upgrades.
- Choose the Moto G34 if it is substantially cheaper. It remains a reasonable option for basic use if you can accept the softer display and less versatile second camera.
- Choose the G34 for a smaller body. It is shorter, narrower and generally lighter.
- Choose based on the exact NFC or SIM configuration you need. Neither model has a universal advantage across all regional variants.
- Compare storage as well as price. A discounted G34 with more internal storage may be a better fit for someone who keeps many apps or files on the phone.
- Keep your G34 unless its limits bother you. The G35’s screen and ultrawide are meaningful improvements, but a full replacement is hard to justify if the G34 still meets your needs and you want a major speed upgrade.
There is no fixed discount threshold that applies across countries or changing clearance prices. Compare the actual local prices for the same RAM and storage tier, with local warranty and return coverage, rather than relying on an old launch price. A historical UK review cited a £149.99 G35 launch price; that is not a current price guide for other markets.
One newer Motorola option to compare
For US shoppers who are not set on either older model, Motorola’s Moto G 2026 is another device to check against current prices and support terms. Motorola’s US page lists Android 16, a Dimensity 6300 processor, a 5,200mAh battery and 30W charging. Its listed 6.7-inch 120Hz display is HD+, however, so it is not automatically a better choice if sharpness is the priority; the G35 has the FHD+ advantage.

Buying checklist
- Confirm the exact model number and that the listing is for the 5G model you intend to buy.
- Check physical RAM and internal storage separately; do not count RAM Boost as physical memory.
- Verify NFC, eSIM or dual-SIM setup, supported network bands and carrier compatibility.
- Confirm warranty region, update status, condition (new or refurbished) and return policy.
- Check what charger, if any, is included and confirm the phone’s supported charging rate.
- For a case or screen protector, buy one explicitly made for the exact model; the G34 and G35 are different sizes.
