The Minisforum AtomMan G1 Pro is unusual for one specific reason: it combines a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX with a 145-watt, low-profile desktop-class GeForce RTX 5060 inside a chassis Minisforum markets as 3.8 liters. That makes it far more capable than an integrated-graphics mini PC, but it is not a miniature full-size gaming tower. The GPU is physically constrained by its low-profile design, the 8GB of VRAM limits its long-term headroom, and independent reviews report substantial fan noise under sustained load.
In other words, the G1 Pro is best understood as a compact 1080p-to-1440p gaming desktop for buyers willing to pay a premium for size—not as the best-value gaming PC or a silent office computer.
What is the AtomMan G1 Pro?
The AtomMan G1 Pro is a complete Windows 11 gaming mini PC rather than a barebones box that relies on integrated graphics. The standard configuration covered by reviews includes 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Minisforum also lists Linux support.

Its headline components are the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060. The system has an internal 350W power supply, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5Gb Ethernet, all in a vertically oriented white chassis with a console-like footprint.

The official dimensions are 215 × 57 × 315mm, with a listed weight of 3.81kg. Multiplying those external dimensions gives roughly 3.86 liters, which makes Minisforum’s 3.8-liter marketing claim credible. That figure describes the computer’s chassis, however—not the stand, cables, power cord or ventilation clearance required on a real desk.
Why the desktop RTX 5060 matters
Most small gaming PCs use one of two approaches: integrated Radeon graphics built into the processor, or a laptop GPU soldered into the system. The G1 Pro takes a different route. It uses a discrete, low-profile RTX 5060 board rated by Minisforum at 145W, with 3,840 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR7 memory.
That is the central distinction between this machine and a typical mini PC. The graphics card supports NVIDIA features including ray tracing, DLSS 4, CUDA and creator-focused GPU acceleration. A 145W graphics power target also gives it a different performance profile from many laptop RTX 5060 implementations.
But “desktop RTX 5060” does not mean “a conventional desktop graphics card.” PC Gamer identified the installed card as a Gigabyte RTX 5060 OC Low Profile 8G. Its low-profile dimensions, cooler thickness, power connector arrangement and the G1 Pro’s compact cooling system all matter. The GPU is desktop-class in design and power category, but it is not equivalent to installing a full-height card in a larger Mini-ITX tower.

Ryzen 9 8945HX: powerful, but not current-generation silicon
The Ryzen 9 8945HX is a high-core-count Zen 4 mobile processor with 16 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.4GHz and 80MB of combined L2 and L3 cache, according to Minisforum. That makes it a strong fit for CPU-heavy workloads such as rendering, compiling, video production, virtual machines and heavy multitasking.
Its age needs to be stated clearly, particularly when evaluating the G1 Pro in 2026. The 8945HX belongs to AMD’s Ryzen 8000 generation; it is not a current Zen 5 desktop processor. It remains powerful, but buyers should not interpret its 16-core specification as proof that the machine uses AMD’s newest CPU architecture.

For gaming, the RTX 5060 is normally the more important component once the resolution and graphics settings rise. The CPU becomes more significant in high-refresh competitive games, simulation titles and other workloads that are strongly processor-limited.
Gaming performance: target 1080p and 1440p
The G1 Pro is primarily a 1080p and 1440p gaming system. Native 1080p play is generally realistic in demanding games, while DLSS and frame generation can make higher resolutions or heavier ray-tracing settings more practical. 4K gaming is possible in selected titles with reduced settings and upscaling, but it should not be treated as the system’s natural target.
In Tom’s Guide’s testing at 1080p, the G1 Pro recorded:
- Metro Exodus: 51.45 frames per second.
- Cyberpunk 2077: 45.21 frames per second.
- Red Dead Redemption 2: 90.66 frames per second.
Tom’s Guide also reported that DLSS and upscaling pushed demanding games beyond 60fps in its testing. These figures are useful indicators rather than guarantees. Results vary with the game patch, NVIDIA driver, preset, ray-tracing settings, DLSS mode, frame-generation settings, power profile, memory configuration and ambient temperature.
The RTX 5060’s 8GB VRAM is the most important limitation for longer-term use. It is reasonable for 1080p and much 1440p gaming, but large texture packs, heavy ray tracing, 4K output, modded games and newer AAA releases can push against that capacity. The same limitation matters for local AI workloads whose models do not fit comfortably in 8GB of VRAM. This is not a future-proof configuration.
Power modes, cooling and noise
PC Gamer reports three Minisforum performance profiles:
- Office Mode: approximately 60W CPU limit.
- Gaming Mode: approximately 80W.
- Beast Mode: approximately 100W.
Higher limits can improve sustained CPU performance in rendering, compiling and other multicore tasks, but they also increase heat and fan noise. The 350W internal power supply provides system headroom; it does not make the computer acoustically quiet.

Tom’s Guide found the G1 Pro can become loud under heavy workloads. That is an expected trade-off when a 145W GPU, a high-power processor and an internal PSU share a very small enclosure. Buyers who want a quiet gaming or rendering machine should consider noise a primary purchase criterion, not a minor drawback.

Memory
The G1 Pro uses dual-channel DDR5-5200 SO-DIMM memory rather than soldered RAM. Minisforum lists support for up to 96GB. Tom’s Guide found a second memory slot available and reported that its review unit used a 32GB module rather than permanently soldered memory.
That creates two practical considerations. First, buyers should confirm whether their retail configuration contains one 32GB module or a matched 2 × 16GB kit. If it contains one module, adding a compatible second module may improve memory bandwidth through dual-channel operation. Second, opening the chassis is not necessarily a quick, tool-free procedure.
Storage
There are two M.2 2230/2280 PCIe 4.0 ×4 NVMe slots. Minisforum claims support for up to 4TB per slot, or 8TB total. Tom’s Guide found the second slot empty in its 1TB configuration, making it a practical way to add a game library or project drive without replacing the original SSD.
Access involves removing the base or side panel and working around cooling and power connections. A second NVMe drive also adds heat inside a dense chassis, so check heatsink height and available thermal clearance before buying a drive.
Graphics card
The GPU is replaceable in principle. Tom’s Guide reported that the installed low-profile Gigabyte RTX 5060 uses a standard graphics-card design, while Minisforum lists an internal PCIe 4.0 ×16 interface.
That should not be confused with universal GPU upgradeability. Any replacement must fit the low-profile physical envelope, slot thickness and cooling clearance. Its power draw and connector position must be compatible with the 350W supply and internal cabling, and BIOS, firmware and driver support may also matter. NVIDIA may not release a suitable low-profile card in every future generation.

The accurate description is therefore: the low-profile GPU is replaceable, but future upgrades are constrained by dimensions, power delivery, cooling and firmware compatibility.
Ports and display support
The G1 Pro provides strong display and networking options, although its general-purpose USB count is less generous than some desktop users may expect.
- Front: USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 data-only and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
- Rear: two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C data-only, two HDMI 2.1 outputs, two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and one DisplayPort 1.4a output.
- Networking: 5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Not every display output is necessarily connected to the same graphics device. Minisforum’s specifications distinguish between onboard and GPU-connected outputs, so users with several high-refresh displays should verify the correct port for their desired resolution and refresh rate.
Tom’s Guide recorded 1.5Gbps over Wi-Fi 7 in its test environment and highlighted the 5Gb Ethernet connection. In a gaming and workstation setup with a webcam, microphone, controllers, external SSDs and other peripherals, a powered USB hub may still be necessary.

Pricing has not been consistent across Minisforum’s official pages, so the G1 Pro should not be described with one universal current price. At the time of checking on August 16, 2026, Minisforum’s US store showed the 32GB RAM/1TB SSD configuration at $1,495 on sale, compared with a listed price of $1,869. Other official pages showed a $1,039.90 price while marked out of stock, and a gaming-category page displayed another $1,589 sale/$1,979 list signal.
Third-party reviews cited prices around $1,439 to $1,529. Before ordering, check the exact country store, configuration, Windows inclusion, stock status, shipping estimate and whether the price is for a barebones or fully configured system. Availability and promotional pricing can change.

It makes sense if you:
- Need a genuinely compact gaming PC with a discrete desktop-class GPU.
- Want a console-like footprint and an internal power supply.
- Primarily play at 1080p or 1440p.
- Need upgradeable SO-DIMM memory and two NVMe slots.
- Use CUDA, NVIDIA Studio tools, DLSS or other RTX acceleration.
- Are willing to pay a premium for a chassis below four liters.
Look elsewhere if you:
- Want the best performance per dollar.
- Expect a quiet system during sustained gaming or rendering.
- Need more than 8GB of graphics memory.
- Want standard desktop expansion and a full-height graphics card.
- Do not specifically need a sub-4-liter enclosure.
- Can accept a larger 10-to-20-liter Mini-ITX or small-form-factor desktop.
A DIY SFF system will generally offer more cooling flexibility, easier upgrades and better component choice. PC Gamer also frames a similarly priced self-built system as potentially faster, although it would not approach the G1 Pro’s size.

Alternatives
Minisforum AtomMan G7 Pro
The G7 Pro is the closest in-house alternative. It pairs an Intel Core i9-14900HX with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, up to 96GB of DDR5, two M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Minisforum’s gaming-category page showed a price signal of $1,359 on sale/$1,699 list when retrieved.
Its laptop RTX 5070 may deliver stronger graphics performance in some workloads, depending on its power limit and cooling. The G1 Pro is the clearer choice for buyers specifically seeking a desktop-class GPU and a potentially more straightforward low-profile replacement path. The G7 Pro should be judged by measured gaming, thermal and noise results—not by CPU core counts alone.
ASUS ROG NUC 2025
The ROG NUC 2025 uses an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and laptop RTX graphics, with configurations ranging from RTX 5060 to RTX 5080. It offers a roughly 3-liter vertical design and a more premium ASUS/ROG ecosystem, but ASUS store listings showed configurations at $3,199 and $3,799. It is more relevant to buyers prioritizing brand support and premium construction than value, desktop-GPU hardware or simple part replacement.

The ROG GR70 is another roughly 3-liter gaming mini PC family with RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 options. It is a relevant newer premium alternative, but actual US availability and pricing should be confirmed before treating it as a direct value comparison.
DIY small-form-factor desktop
A DIY Mini-ITX build is the strongest alternative for buyers who can tolerate a larger enclosure and assembly work. It provides standard desktop CPU and GPU parts, better cooling options, easier future upgrades and potentially better performance per dollar. The trade-offs are greater size, cable-management challenges and the time required to build and troubleshoot it.
Verdict
The AtomMan G1 Pro is genuinely unusual because it puts a 145W, low-profile desktop-class RTX 5060—not merely integrated or laptop graphics—into a chassis of approximately 3.8 liters, alongside a 16-core Ryzen 9 8945HX and an internal 350W power supply.
That combination makes it compelling for compact gaming, living-room use, CUDA workloads and buyers who want a ready-made alternative to building an SFF system. Its premium is harder to justify if you care primarily about value, silence, VRAM capacity or conventional upgrade freedom. The 8GB RTX 5060, older Zen 4 CPU platform, limited USB count and load noise are real compromises.
