Minecraft Marketplace Pass is a $3.99-per-month U.S. subscription to a rotating library of content for Bedrock Edition—not a new 2026 launch and not a way to permanently own every download. Mojang announced it on March 13, 2024. The pass can suit players who like trying different worlds and add-ons, but anyone building a long-term world around a particular pack should understand the access limits before subscribing.
What Minecraft Marketplace Pass includes
Marketplace Pass gives subscribers access to a curated, changing selection of Minecraft Marketplace content. The catalog includes creator-made adventure and story worlds, mini-games, add-ons, texture packs, skin packs, mash-ups and other items. It also offers monthly Character Creator items. Xbox describes the catalog as containing 150+ pieces of content, but that is a changing marketing count—not a promise that every Marketplace item is included or that the exact selection will stay fixed.

The service is for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. It is not a subscription to Minecraft itself, and the base game is sold separately. Marketplace Pass does not work with Java Edition or Amazon Kindle Fire. On Windows, make sure you are launching Bedrock rather than Java; a PC version that supports Bedrock is not the same thing as Java support. Price and free-trial eligibility
The verified U.S. price is $3.99 per month. The official Minecraft purchase page currently advertises “Free for 30 days then $3.99/month,” but a trial is not guaranteed for every account or platform. The launch offer excluded existing or former Marketplace Pass subscribers, Realms Plus subscribers and Nintendo Switch users. Those terms may not describe every later promotion, so rely on the offer and renewal details shown at checkout for your account and region. Prices and availability vary by region.

If you start a trial, note its end date and the next billing date. Unless you cancel according to the platform’s subscription instructions before renewal, a trial may convert to a paid subscription. Check the official Minecraft purchase page and your checkout screen for the current offer.
Do you own the content you download?
Usually, no: downloading Pass content does not turn it into a permanent purchase. Access to most included worlds, add-ons, textures, skins and mash-ups depends on an active eligible subscription, the item remaining in the catalog, and signing in with the account that has the entitlement. If your subscription ends or an item leaves the catalog, you may need to resubscribe or buy that item separately to use it again. A file remaining on your device does not guarantee that you still have permission to use it.

There is an important distinction between a world save and the content that world relies on. Your save may still exist after cancellation, but a Pass add-on used in that world may become unavailable. Minecraft’s Marketplace content guidance warns that if a membership ends or an add-on leaves the catalog, you may need to reactivate the membership or purchase the add-on separately to keep using the world with it active. Before making a long-term world depend on a Pass add-on, consider whether you would be willing to buy it separately later.

If you already subscribe to Realms Plus, you do not need a separate Marketplace Pass; official guidance says Realms Plus includes the catalog, and active Realms Plus members cannot separately subscribe to Pass. The meaningful difference is the personal server, which supports the subscriber and up to 10 friends. Marketplace Pass itself does not provide Realms hosting or replace any console platform subscription that may be required for online multiplayer. Compare the plans on the official FAQ before changing subscriptions.

How to find and activate Pass content
- Launch a compatible version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
- Sign in with the Microsoft/Minecraft account used for the subscription or Marketplace entitlement.
- Select Marketplace, then open My Library (the bookcase icon).
- Choose an item to see its details, then download or activate it.
- For an add-on, open the relevant world’s settings and select the add-on from My Packs or Marketplace Pass Packs, then choose Activate.
These are the paths in Minecraft’s Marketplace content support and Bedrock add-on activation support. If the Pass or an item is missing on another device, first check that you are signed into the same account, that the device is running compatible Bedrock, and that you are looking in My Library. Being on the same device is not enough if the account differs; a child account may also be unable to access a subscription obtained on a parent’s account.

Think of the subscription as paying for variety and temporary access, not accumulating a permanent collection. It is more compelling when you regularly try several kinds of content and are comfortable with catalog rotation. Buying a specific item can be a better fit when it is central to a long-running world or you want access without an ongoing subscription.

- Consider Pass if you explore new worlds and add-ons often, enjoy sampling a broad catalog, or value the monthly Character Creator items. The official catalog is marketed as 150+ items, though selection changes.
- Consider buying items individually if you only want one or two specific packs, need a particular add-on for a world you plan to keep playing, or prefer permanent access. Minecoins are used for individual Marketplace purchases; consult the official Minecoins page for purchase and refund terms. Purchases are generally final, with support handling exceptions such as unauthorized purchases.
- Skip a separate Pass if you already have Realms Plus, which includes the catalog, or if you play only Java Edition.
- Be cautious if you are subscribing just for a short trial. Confirm renewal terms, check the billing date, and decide whether any content you use would be worth purchasing before access ends.
Before you cancel
- Check which of your worlds use Pass add-ons or other subscription content.
- Purchase separately any catalog item you need for a world you intend to keep using.
- Redeem the month’s Character Creator item if you want it; redeemed items remain yours.
- Confirm which account holds the subscription and where your world saves are stored. Do not treat a cloud-template window as permanent ownership.
- If you are on a trial, verify the billing date and cancel through the appropriate subscription channel in time to avoid renewal.
Mojang introduced Marketplace Pass in March 2024, so it should not be described as a new launch in 2026. Its current appeal is straightforward: for $3.99 a month in the U.S., eligible Bedrock players get a changing library of Marketplace content. Whether that is good value comes down to how often you use it—and whether you are comfortable giving up access to most of it when the subscription or catalog eligibility ends.
