Possibly—but ₹500 per user per month is not Microsoft’s standard public price in India. It may be an eligible reseller promotion, but the specific offer cannot be confirmed without a current written quote identifying the seller, plan, billing commitment, GST, and renewal rate. Treat “up to 45% off” as conditional, not a guaranteed discount.
What Microsoft’s India pricing shows
Microsoft’s India Business Standard page has displayed different prices across page versions: ₹770 or ₹860 per user per month with annual payment, and ₹924 or ₹1,032 per user per month for monthly billing. These are displayed prices, not a guarantee of what every account will see at checkout; GST is extra. Check the live Microsoft India Business Standard page before buying. The variation means a price comparison should specify the exact SKU, billing option, tax basis, and date.
Microsoft also lists a Business Standard edition without Teams at lower prices on some page versions—₹570 or ₹665 per user per month paid yearly. Confirm whether Teams is included rather than assuming that a lower quote is the full Teams-included plan.
What ₹500 actually costs
At ₹500 per user per month, the arithmetic is ₹6,000 per user for 12 months before tax. If the quote is before 18% GST, the illustrative total becomes ₹590 per month, or ₹7,080 per user for the year. Ask the seller to confirm tax treatment; this calculation does not establish how a particular offer is invoiced.

That is why “up to 45% off” needs a stated baseline. Depending on which Microsoft price and billing term the seller compares against, the percentage changes. “Up to” is a maximum available under some conditions, not proof that every buyer receives that discount. Ask whether the comparison excludes GST, applies to every seat, lasts for the full year, and has an expiry date or minimum seat count.
Monthly price does not always mean monthly flexibility
A quote of ₹500 per month can describe very different arrangements:

- Month-to-month subscription: paid monthly and potentially cancellable monthly under its terms.
- Annual commitment, billed monthly: payments are monthly, but the commitment is for a year. Cancellation or reducing seats may not end the obligation to pay for committed seats.
- Annual prepaid: ₹6,000 per user is due for the year, before applicable tax.
- First-year promotional price: the rate may rise at renewal.
Microsoft distinguishes annual subscriptions paid yearly from annual commitments paid monthly in its business plans and pricing information. Do not infer cancellation flexibility from the word “monthly.” Get the commitment, seat-reduction rules, cancellation terms, and refund policy in writing.
Is the ₹500 offer verified?
The ₹500 claim appears in a March 22, 2026 article describing possible partner-led pricing, not in a Microsoft announcement naming a universal India offer. That article presents the price as conditional. A reseller may offer a legitimate promotional rate, but general partner pricing does not verify this specific price, its current availability, or your eligibility. A quote from the seller is essential.

Microsoft’s pricing material notes that some promotional pricing is limited to new Microsoft 365 commercial customers and may apply only in the first year. That does not establish that this particular offer has those terms—or that an existing customer qualifies. Ask whether the promotion applies to your organization’s existing tenant, a renewal, added seats, a move from another plan, or a change of reseller. Do not assume that cancelling a subscription, removing users, or changing partners makes an existing tenant eligible for a new-customer promotion.
What Business Standard includes
Microsoft 365 Business Standard is a commercial subscription for organizations with up to 300 users. The listed plan includes desktop, web, and mobile Office apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; custom-domain business email through Exchange; Teams; 1 TB of OneDrive storage per user; and collaboration services including SharePoint. Microsoft also lists services such as Planner, Forms, Bookings, Loop, and Clipchamp. Device rights are subject to current licensing terms; Microsoft’s comparison information describes installation on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets, and five mobile devices per user. Business Standard includes baseline protections, but it is not a full advanced cybersecurity suite. Microsoft positions Business Premium for organizations needing stronger identity, endpoint, device-management, and threat-protection capabilities. - Exact product: Does the line item say Microsoft 365 Business Standard? Is it with Teams or without Teams? It should not be Microsoft 365 Apps for business, a consumer subscription, or a setup package described loosely as “Office 365.”
- Price and tax: Is ₹500 before or after GST? What is the total payable for all seats, including any fees?
- Term and payment: Is it monthly with no annual commitment, annual commitment billed monthly, or a year prepaid?
- Promotion: Who qualifies, how many seats are required, when does it end, and does it apply to existing tenants or renewals?
- Renewal: What is the second-year price? If it is not fixed, ask the seller to say in writing that renewal will be at its then-current price and request a renewal quote before the term ends.
- Seat rules and cancellation: Can you reduce seats during the term? What happens if an employee leaves or you cancel early?
- Services: Are migration, setup, domain registration, support, or onboarding included? Request separate prices. A low license rate may not include migration or other work.
- Invoice and seller: Will you receive a proper business invoice? Ask the seller to identify its Microsoft partner or reseller status and verify it through current Microsoft partner resources; do not rely on an unsupported authorization claim.
- Tenant control: Will the licenses be provisioned in your organization’s own Microsoft 365 tenant, where you control the domain, global administrator account, users, security settings, data, and billing access?
After purchase, check that the subscription appears in your organization’s Microsoft 365 admin center and that your own administrators control the tenant. A partner may help manage or support a subscription, but you should understand who controls the tenant and have a documented route to maintain access and continuity if the partner relationship ends.

- The seller supplies shared or pre-created Microsoft accounts instead of licensing your organization’s tenant.
- The subscription is visible only in a seller-controlled tenant, or you cannot access the admin center and manage your organization.
- The seller will not provide a formal quote, named SKU, written term, or tax invoice.
- Payment is requested to an unrelated personal account without a clear business invoice.
- The seller promises a “lifetime” Microsoft 365 subscription. Business Standard is a subscription, not a lifetime license.
- The offer is called Business Standard but the seller cannot confirm whether Teams, desktop apps, or business email are included.
- The seller refuses to explain renewal pricing, annual commitment, cancellation, or extra service charges.
Would a different plan suit you better?
- Business Basic: Consider it if staff need business email, Teams, storage, and browser or mobile Office apps but not installed desktop Office applications. Microsoft’s India pricing pages have shown roughly ₹145–₹170 per user per month paid yearly, depending on page version. See the plan and pricing page.
- Microsoft 365 Apps for business: Consider it if installed Office apps and OneDrive are the priority, but you do not need hosted custom-domain email, Teams, or Business Standard’s broader collaboration package. It is a separate plan; compare its current terms with Microsoft’s product comparison.
- Business Premium: Consider it when advanced identity, endpoint, device, and threat protections justify the higher cost. Microsoft’s India pages have displayed approximately ₹1,830–₹2,196 per user per month depending on page and billing presentation; confirm the live price and included security features on Microsoft’s security pricing page.
Plan prices are included as context, not as guaranteed checkout prices. Microsoft’s India pages have shown differing figures, so compare the live price, same billing term, tax basis, and feature set before deciding.
Direct Microsoft purchase or a reseller?
Buying directly from Microsoft can make checkout pricing and the Microsoft account relationship more straightforward, but it may offer less room for negotiation and does not necessarily include migration or setup work. A CSP or reseller may provide a lower effective price, local support, or onboarding, but eligibility, billing, support, and renewal depend on the terms and quality of that partner. Neither route makes an unclear SKU, missing invoice, or loss of tenant control acceptable.
