Neither Microlink nor PagePixels is a universal winner. Microlink is the more natural starting point for a code-first URL-to-image workflow with browser controls and API/SDK delivery. PagePixels is the stronger fit when you need scheduled captures, change alerts, location-specific screenshots, multi-step browser actions or no-code integrations. Those are conclusions from vendor-documented features, not from a matched performance test.
If you are open to a third option, ScreenshotNeo is worth trying first: it removes common consent banners and overlays before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a lower-priced paid entry plan than the two listed paid tiers here.
How to choose between Microlink and PagePixels
Start with the job, not the vendor’s feature count. For an application that requests a screenshot and consumes an image or image reference, Microlink’s documented API and SDK workflow is a plausible fit. For recurring visual monitoring, notifications, saved history, workflow-tool connections or location variation, PagePixels documents more of that surrounding workflow.

What each service does
Microlink
Microlink is a hosted URL-to-screenshot service. Its screenshot guide describes both a structured asset response and direct image delivery, while its SDK documentation covers full-page capture, PNG/JPEG output and element capture. The vendor also advertises viewport and device options and browser interaction controls. See the Microlink screenshot page, screenshot guide and SDK content methods.
#1 Best Overall
PagePixels
PagePixels documents an instant snap endpoint, scheduled screenshots, multi-step browser actions, geolocation, AI analysis, custom HTML screenshots and rendered HTML extraction. Its pricing page says scheduling, change alerts, Real Locations, AI analysis, custom HTML and integrations are available across plans. See PagePixels API documentation, pricing and the product site.
Feature comparison
| Decision area | Microlink | PagePixels | Choose based on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capture and response | URL screenshot API; structured asset response and direct image delivery are documented. | Quick Snap returns an image by default; JSON can return image links. | Whether your application needs image bytes, JSON metadata, a hosted asset or an embed URL. |
| Page and browser control | Full-page and element capture appear in the SDK docs; the product page advertises device/viewport options and interaction controls. | Multi-step browser actions, location and time-zone options are documented. | Whether you must click, fill, wait, capture a selector or render from a particular location. |
| Monitoring | Reviewed sources describe capture and API/SDK workflows; they do not establish a matching built-in scheduled change-alert workflow. | Scheduling, change notifications and archived history are listed. | One-off screenshots versus recurring monitoring with alerts and history. |
| Integrations | Emphasis is on REST API and official SDKs. | Lists Zapier, Make, n8n, Power Automate, Slack, Dropbox, webhooks and MCP. | Code-first development versus workflow-tool connections. Confirm connector behavior and limits. |
| Caching | Configurable TTL and caching features are documented on paid plans. | Documents a default 24-hour saved delivery window adjustable with TTL; cached delivery within the window does not count against the monthly screenshot allowance. | Required image freshness and likely savings from cache reuse. |
| Custom HTML | Reviewed materials focus on URL captures and other URL-derived outputs. | snap_html renders supplied HTML, including email, report and private-data presentations. |
Whether the source is already HTML rather than a browsable URL. |

Plans and costs to compare
The following vendor-published figures were observed on September 29, 2026. They are not a normalized price comparison: the included units, extras and billing conditions differ. Check each live plan selector and terms before purchase.

| Service and tier or add-on | Published allowance or price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Microlink Free | 25 requests per day | Daily allowance listed on Microlink’s screenshot page, accessed September 29, 2026. |
| Microlink Pro | $49 per month for 46,000 requests per month | Listed on Microlink’s screenshot page, accessed September 29, 2026; confirm current plan details. |
| PagePixels free | 25 screenshots per month | Monthly allowance listed on its pricing page, accessed September 29, 2026. |
| PagePixels paid tier | $16.99 per month for 3,000 screenshots | Listed monthly tier; PagePixels says features are not gated by tier. |
| PagePixels AI analysis | $9.99 per month per 1,000 AI analysis credits | Metered extra with a free monthly allowance, according to the pricing page. |
| PagePixels Real Locations | $20 per month per 2 GB of bandwidth | Metered proxy bandwidth with a free monthly allowance, according to the pricing page. |
Do not treat the free allowances as equivalent: Microlink lists a daily quota, while PagePixels lists a monthly one. For paid use, estimate uncached captures per month and account for location bandwidth, AI analysis, HTML extraction and other usage that may affect the bill. PagePixels says cached deliveries within the TTL period are free and requests above plan usage return an error rather than triggering surprise billing. Check the PagePixels pricing page and API documentation for current terms.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Microlink when
- Your application needs a direct screenshot API or SDK workflow.
- Full-page or element capture and device or viewport controls matter.
- You want to consume an asset response or deliver an image directly.
- You are prepared to validate current options, limits and behavior on your own target pages.
Microlink’s screenshot and SDK details are documented at microlink.io/screenshot, the screenshot guide and the SDK methods page.
Choose PagePixels when
- You need scheduled monitoring, change notifications or archived captures.
- Captures must use location variation or pre-capture browser actions.
- You need to render supplied HTML or extract rendered HTML.
- Your team wants listed integrations with tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, Power Automate, Slack, Dropbox, webhooks or MCP.
These capabilities are vendor-documented; validate the workflow and its limits on the pages and integrations you will actually use. Consult PagePixels pricing, its API documentation and its product site.

Use a short proof of concept to settle edge cases
- Choose a small set of representative URLs: a static page, a dynamic page, and any page that requires a login, consent interaction or geographic variation.
- For each vendor, request the same output type and viewport, then check whether the response is an image, a link or structured metadata as your application expects.
- Check the captured content for missing lazy-loaded images, overlays, incomplete rendering and differences caused by location or time zone.
- Run enough captures to estimate monthly uncached volume, then include any add-on or bandwidth usage in the cost estimate.
- For monitoring, confirm the schedule, alert route, archive behavior and cache freshness that your team needs before moving the workflow into production.
This is an evaluation method, not a claim that either service has been tested here.
Or skip the browser setup
For a single-call screenshot option, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets can be removed before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for AI agents.
Example cURL request (replace the target URL and supply your API key):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.

Performance, reliability and cost: what is not established
The reviewed sources do not provide a matched, independent performance benchmark, and no test was run for this comparison. There is therefore no supported winner for latency, reliability, screenshot fidelity or success rate. A provider’s feature list is not proof that a protected or unusually dynamic page will capture successfully; use your own proof of concept and monitor actual response behavior.
Cost depends on your workload rather than the headline quota alone. Distinguish requests from screenshots, daily from monthly allowances, cached from fresh delivery, and base capture from extras such as AI credits or location bandwidth. For PagePixels, the vendor says over-plan requests return an error instead of causing surprise billing; verify how your integration handles that response. For Microlink, confirm current plan limits and terms before relying on a published tier.
Frequently asked questions
Can either service screenshot a page after browser actions?
PagePixels explicitly documents multi-step actions. Microlink’s product page advertises browser interaction controls, but validate that the particular sequence you need is supported.
Best Value
Which offers a free tier?
Both list one: Microlink lists 25 requests per day, while PagePixels lists 25 screenshots per month. The periods differ, so the quotas are not directly comparable.
Can I use screenshots for scheduled visual monitoring?
PagePixels lists scheduling, change notifications and archived history. The reviewed Microlink materials do not establish an equivalent built-in scheduled alert workflow.
