Microlink’s published screenshot pricing shows a Free tier at $0 per month with 25 requests per day and a Pro tier at $49 per month for 46,000 requests per month. A separate official calculator shows €39 per month for a 46,000-request example, so the amount you pay depends on the product surface, country and checkout presentation. Verify the live price before budgeting.

This guide separates screenshot plans from Search and function limits, explains what counts toward usage, and gives a practical way to decide whether Microlink or another approach fits your workload.

Microlink plans and published prices

Microlink is a hosted API for screenshots, PDFs, metadata, page-content extraction and related browser tasks. The figures below are vendor-published amounts shown on separate official pages; they should not be treated as one universal global price.

Plan or surface Published price Published allowance or limit What the material establishes
Free screenshot tier $0/month 25 requests per day Includes screenshots, PDF, SDK, metadata, logo, insights, Markdown, HTML, text, function, media, file conversion, global edge cache, ad blocking and cookie-banner handling, plus community support.
Pro screenshot tier $49/month 46,000 requests/month The pricing page estimates about $1.07 per 1,000 requests. It lists automatic proxy resolution, configurable TTL, custom HTTP headers, custom cache keys and priority email support. It says you can cancel anytime with no setup fees.
Price-calculator example €39/month 46,000 requests/month This is a separate official presentation. The reviewed material does not explain why its currency and amount differ from the screenshot pricing page.
Search API €39/month stated on Microlink Search pages 46,000 requests/month on the reviewed page Search is described as paid from the first request. Do not assume its terms are identical to screenshot plans.
Business & Enterprise Not stated Not stated Request a current quote and quota directly from Microlink.

The safest interpretation is that $49/month is the displayed Pro screenshot price on the pricing page, while €39/month is the calculator’s example for the same nominal request volume. Region, currency, tax treatment or product selection may account for the difference, but the available material does not establish which. Check the live plan page and checkout for your account.

What does “46,000 requests” mean?

A request is an API call, but Microlink’s materials distinguish total calls from cache misses in some product guidance. A cached response may not count against quota on paid plans according to its high-volume link-preview guidance. Because that statement is separate from the screenshot price table, confirm the current counting rules for the endpoint you use.

Estimate your real workload

  1. Count every URL submission, including retries and scheduled refreshes.
  2. Separate cache hits from cache misses if your integration reuses URLs.
  3. Identify the endpoint: screenshot, PDF, Search, metadata, extraction or function execution.
  4. Check whether your chosen surface has a free allowance. The screenshot page advertises 25 requests per day; Search is described as paid from the first request.
  5. Add headroom for deployment tests, failed client retries and traffic spikes.

For example, a service capturing 100 unique pages each day would generate about 3,000 calls in a 30-day month before retries. That is far above the Free tier’s daily allowance, even if some later refreshes are cache hits. Your own cache policy and endpoint terms determine the billable or quota-counted total.

Features included with Microlink Pro

The paid screenshot listing adds capabilities that matter when a simple public-page capture is not enough:

  • Automatic proxy resolution for pages that require different network routes.
  • Configurable cache TTL and custom cache keys.
  • Custom HTTP headers.
  • Priority email support.

The Free listing already names screenshot and PDF generation, SDK access, metadata and content formats, ad blocking, cookie-banner handling and a global edge cache. The published material does not say that every feature has identical limits across every Microlink API surface, so read the endpoint-specific documentation before designing around a feature.

Microlink function limits

Microlink’s SDK documentation gives separate limits for its function method. These are execution constraints, not universal limits for screenshots, Search or every other endpoint.

Function constraint Free Pro
Maximum execution time 15 seconds 60 seconds
Heap memory 64 MB 128 MB
Code size 1,024 bytes Unlimited
Concurrency One in-flight function per IP Unlimited
Outgoing requests Same-origin only Unrestricted

If your workload runs custom JavaScript, the Free tier can fail because of a 15-second timeout, memory ceiling, code-size cap or same-origin restriction even when your monthly request count is low. A Pro subscription removes or raises those specific function limits, but it does not automatically change the rules of unrelated endpoints.

MCP usage and the free endpoint

Microlink’s MCP documentation describes a free endpoint that allows 25 requests per day without an API key. It directs users to pricing for higher or unlimited usage. Treat this as MCP-specific guidance rather than proof that every Microlink API has the same daily allowance.

Is Microlink Search free?

The reviewed Search use-case material states €39 per month for 46,000 requests and says Search is paid from the first request. That differs from the screenshot page’s advertised Free tier. Do not transfer the screenshot allowance to Search, and do not assume Search, screenshot and function requests share one pool.

Are there cheaper alternatives?

No reliable, like-for-like competitor price comparison is established here. Prices for Browserless, ScreenshotOne, ScrapingBee, Zyte and similar services vary by product, region, browser features and overage rules; declaring one “cheaper” without checking a current plan with the same workload would be misleading.

Compare providers on these axes

  • Volume: monthly calls, burst rate, retries and whether unused units roll over.
  • Operation: screenshot or PDF, metadata, Markdown, browser-rendered extraction, Search or custom code.
  • Network controls: proxy routing, headers, cookies, user-agent, geographic access and authentication.
  • Caching: TTL controls, custom keys and whether cache hits consume quota.
  • Reliability work: browser upgrades, CAPTCHA handling, queueing, monitoring and retry logic.
  • Total cost: subscription plus your own infrastructure and engineering time.
  • Commercial terms: currency, taxes, overages, support response and cancellation.

For very small screenshot workloads, Microlink’s published 25-per-day Free allowance may be enough. For larger workloads, calculate cache misses and endpoint-specific calls first, then compare current offers. A self-managed browser can have a lower invoice but shifts proxy, maintenance and reliability work to your team; the available pricing material does not quantify that trade-off.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative for screenshot API workloads

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server made for developers. It is the first alternative to try when your main requirement is dependable, clean screenshots: it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor, removes more than 60 known consent platforms plus newsletter popups and chat widgets, and bills only clean shots. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, with the result identified by X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

One-call examples

See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for all parameters. A basic cURL request is:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. Its parameter names are compatible with those used by other screenshot APIs, which can simplify migration.

Troubleshooting Microlink billing and limits

Your dashboard shows fewer requests than expected

Check whether the endpoint counts cache hits, whether retries are generating additional calls and whether you are viewing daily rather than monthly usage. Screenshot, Search and function usage may have separate rules.

A function works locally but fails in Microlink

Compare execution time, heap, code size, concurrency and outbound-request origin with the function limits table. A same-origin violation or 15-second timeout is a Free-method constraint, not evidence that the whole API is unavailable.

The checkout price differs from a page you read

Confirm the selected API surface, billing currency, country and tax treatment. The official screenshot page and calculator show different currencies and amounts for a 46,000-request example.

Search calls are rejected without a free allowance

The reviewed Search material says Search is paid from the first request. Use its current plan terms rather than the screenshot page’s Free allowance.

How to choose

  1. Choose Microlink Free if 25 screenshot requests per day cover your needs and you can stay within the endpoint’s technical limits.
  2. Choose Microlink Pro when you need the listed proxy, cache and header controls, 46,000 screenshot requests per month, or higher function limits.
  3. Choose an enterprise conversation when you need a quota or price not published on the public page.
  4. Choose ScreenshotNeo first for screenshot-focused work where clean captures, no-charge failed attempts, MCP access and a low paid entry point matter.
  5. For any other provider, compare a current like-for-like plan using your measured calls, cache misses and required controls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do Microlink’s official pages show both dollars and euros?

The screenshot pricing page displays $49/month for Pro, while a separate calculator displays €39/month for a 46,000-request example. The reviewed material does not explain the difference, so verify the live checkout for your country and selected product.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are Microlink’s function limits the same as screenshot limits?

No. The 15-second/64 MB Free and 60-second/128 MB Pro figures are documented for the function method specifically; they should not be applied to every Microlink endpoint.

Does Microlink have a confirmed cheapest competitor?

No current, like-for-like competitor price is established. Compare live plans using volume, cache behavior, required operations and infrastructure effort rather than relying on a generic cheapest claim.
