Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses have an in-lens screen, but Meta’s clearly documented 3K video specification belongs to a different product: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2). The Display model has a camera, but available official materials do not clearly confirm that it records 3K. If you are shopping specifically for 3K video, check the exact model rather than assuming the display glasses include that capability.
Two products, two different priorities
Meta announced both products as part of its 2025 smart-glasses lineup, which makes the names and features easy to conflate. Meta Ray-Ban Display is built around a small visual display in the right lens, controlled with a wrist-worn Neural Band. Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) has no in-lens display; its headline camera upgrade is video recording up to 3K at 30 frames per second.
In short, “display glasses” and “3K camera glasses” are not interchangeable descriptions. Meta Ray-Ban Display has a camera, but do not treat it as a confirmed 3K camera product without model-specific confirmation from Meta or Ray-Ban.

What Meta Ray-Ban Display offers
Meta announced the Display glasses at Meta Connect on September 17, 2025, and began US availability on September 30. The launch starting price was $799, including the Neural Band. The right-lens display is listed at 600 × 600 pixels. It can show notifications, messages, album art, images, book covers, navigation, translation and responses from Meta AI. This is a compact, personal display—not a claim of wide-field, room-scale augmented reality.
The Neural Band reads subtle muscle signals and finger gestures to control the glasses. The product also includes open-ear speakers, hands-free messaging and video calling, and Transition lenses among its options. Launch colors were Black and Sand. Meta said to expect up to six hours of mixed-use battery life; Ray-Ban lists up to six hours on a charge and up to 24 hours with the fully charged case. Actual runtime varies with display use, video, audio, AI, and connectivity.

What “3K video” means on Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2
Ray-Ban advertises Gen 2 recording up to 3K at 30 fps from a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Some Ray-Ban product listings give the capture dimensions as up to 2203 × 2938 pixels at 30 fps, a portrait-oriented mode marketed as 3K Ultra HD. The glasses also support up to 1080p at 60 fps. These are different recording modes: the maximum resolution is not necessarily the default, and “3K” is not 4K.
Resolution and frame rate describe only part of the result. A portrait-oriented, frame-mounted camera is convenient for first-person clips and quick social sharing, but it does not offer a phone or dedicated camera’s framing control, optical zoom, interchangeable lenses, or extensive exposure controls. Higher-resolution recording can also use more storage and battery. Ray-Ban lists stabilization for 1080p-and-higher video at 30 fps, but buyers should check the exact mode and limitations on the relevant product documentation rather than assume every resolution, frame rate, and stabilization setting works together.
Gen 2 is listed with 32GB storage, up to eight hours of battery under specified moderate-use conditions, and Bluetooth 5.3; wireless specifications can vary by product page or region. Ray-Ban says the glasses require a compatible smartphone, the Meta AI app, a Meta account, and internet access. Its US FAQ lists Android 10 or later and iOS 14.4 or later; confirm current requirements for your phone and country before buying.

Price and availability depend on model and country
The Display model’s $799 launch price included the Neural Band; it is a starting price and may not include prescription options, taxes, shipping, or other costs. It launched in the United States through Ray-Ban and selected retail channels, including Best Buy, LensCrafters, and Sunglass Hut, with select Verizon stores expected to follow.
Meta initially announced plans to expand Display availability to Canada, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom in early 2026. That was a plan, not a guarantee that the product launched in all those markets. Later reporting said the international expansion was paused or delayed. Gen 2 pricing varies with frame, lens, prescription, and retailer. Compare the exact configuration and checkout price; a price for one frame or lens option is not necessarily the price for every version.
Which one makes sense for you?
- Choose Meta Ray-Ban Display if the in-lens interface is the point: you want messages, navigation, translation, or visual AI responses in view and are willing to pay the premium for the glasses and Neural Band.
- Choose Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 if your priority is hands-free POV video and the officially advertised 3K/30fps mode, and you do not need a screen. It is the clearer match for a “3K video camera glasses” search.
- Choose a phone or dedicated camera if you need predictable long recording sessions, precise framing, zoom, manual controls, or professional capture—or if wearable recording would be inappropriate in the setting.
Prescription availability is model- and lens-dependent; do not assume every prescription can be ordered in every frame. Ray-Ban’s US FAQ lists an eligible total-power range of -6.00 to +6.00 for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, but check the local listing and your prescription with the retailer or optician.

Both products are wearable cameras, so hands-free recording can affect people nearby even when the wearer finds it convenient. Check the model’s recording indicator, respect venue rules, and follow local laws and other people’s expectations before recording. A visible indicator does not replace consent where it is required or appropriate.
Neither model should be treated as a fully independent computer: setup and use depend on a compatible phone, Meta AI app, Meta account, and internet access. Battery figures are estimates under stated use conditions, not promises of a full day of continuous video, display, or AI activity.
