Logitech announced the MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025, with three editions launching in the same product family: the standard MX Master 4, MX Master 4 for Mac, and MX Master 4 for Business. The standard model was announced for worldwide availability at $119.99/€129.99, while the Business edition was announced at $119.99 through Logitech and authorized resellers.
The important qualification is that “global release” does not mean identical colors, retailers, prices, stock levels, or package contents in every country. The standard, Mac, and Business versions also differ in their intended buyers and included connectivity options.
What launched on September 30, 2025?

Is the MX Master 4 really available globally?
Logitech announced worldwide availability for the standard MX Master 4. However, availability should be interpreted as a global product launch rather than a promise that every configuration is sold in every market at the same time.
Logitech announced Graphite and Pale Grey for global availability, while Black and Graphite Charcoal were listed for North America and Europe. The Mac edition was announced in White Silver and Space Black, and the Business edition in Graphite. Retail channels, tax-inclusive pricing, shipping estimates, and inventory can vary by country.

What is new compared with the MX Master 3S?
Customizable haptic feedback
The MX Master 4 is the first MX mouse Logitech promoted with customizable haptic feedback. Depending on the software configuration, tactile responses can accompany scrolling, navigation, selection, battery status, or connectivity notifications.
Haptics are an interaction feature, not evidence of better tracking accuracy. They may be useful for users who want confirmation without looking at the screen, but people who dislike vibration or tactile interruptions should plan to reduce or disable them through Logitech software.
Actions Ring
The new Actions Ring is a software-enabled overlay that provides app-specific shortcuts and controls. It can place frequently used commands close to the pointer, potentially reducing trips to menus or keyboard shortcuts.

Logitech reported that its Ergo Lab study found 33% faster mouse actions and 63% less cursor movement. Those figures came from 37 MX Master users performing eight desktop actions, so they should be treated as Logitech’s limited study results rather than independent, universal performance measurements.
Actions Ring requires Logi Options+. It is not a hardware feature that works identically without software on every operating system.
Higher-resolution Darkfield tracking
The MX Master 4 uses Logitech’s Darkfield high-precision sensor with a configurable range of 200 to 8,000 DPI, adjustable in 50-DPI increments on the Business specification page. The higher ceiling can help users with high-resolution displays, large desktops, or several monitors who prefer faster pointer movement.
Logitech also promotes tracking on glass, but its Business documentation specifies a minimum glass thickness of 4 mm. That is not the same as a guarantee that the mouse will track on every glass surface.
Connectivity improvements
Logitech claims the MX Master 4 for Business has twice the connectivity strength of the previous MX Master 3S for Business, attributing the result to a new radio chip and optimized antenna placement. This is a manufacturer comparison, not an independently verified measurement.
The Business specification lists Bluetooth Low Energy and a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, with a wireless range of up to 10 meters depending on the environment and computer setup.
Quieter clicking and MagSpeed scrolling
MagSpeed scrolling remains a defining feature, with ratchet and free-spin modes and a thumbwheel for horizontal scrolling. Logitech rates MagSpeed at up to 1,000 lines per second in its launch material.

Logitech also claims up to 90% less click noise than the MX Master 3. As with the connectivity and productivity figures, that is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent acoustic test.
Battery life
The mouse has a rechargeable 650-mAh lithium-polymer battery. Logitech claims up to 70 days on a full charge and up to three hours of use after a one-minute charge. Actual battery life varies with usage and computing conditions, so the 70-day figure should not be treated as a guaranteed interval.
The battery is not user-replaceable according to the Mac specification page. Package contents can vary by SKU and region: Logitech’s launch material says a charging cable was not included with the standard product announcement, while the Business product page lists a USB-C-to-A charging arrangement. Confirm the exact regional package before buying.

Which MX Master 4 should you buy?
Choose the standard MX Master 4 for mixed-platform productivity
The standard version is the safest choice for people who move between Windows and macOS, use several computers, or want the broadest consumer positioning. It is also the natural starting point for developers, office workers, designers, and other users who want the new haptics and Actions Ring without paying for enterprise deployment features.
Check the receiver and accessories listed for the exact retail SKU. “USB-C charging” does not automatically mean that a USB-C wireless receiver is included.
Choose the Mac edition for appearance and a Bluetooth-first setup
The Mac model makes sense when you want White Silver or Space Black, prefer a Mac-oriented package, and are comfortable pairing over Bluetooth. It should not automatically be considered the best option simply because you own a Mac.
The Mac edition is not necessarily Mac-only. Logitech describes its mice as plug-and-play on Mac computers, and basic pointer use does not require additional software. Branding, color, documentation, receiver contents, and advanced software support are separate questions from operating-system lock-in.

For advanced button mapping, app profiles, Actions Ring, haptic controls, and firmware support, use Logitech’s current Options+ software. Logitech says its older Firmware Update Tool, Preference Manager, Control Center, Connection Utility, Unifying Software, and SetPoint utilities are no longer supported or maintained.
Choose the Business edition for managed fleets
The Business version is distinguished mainly by procurement and management features, not by a fundamentally different sensor or ergonomic design. It includes a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver and supports Logitech Sync monitoring through Logi Tune.

Logitech lists certifications including Zoom, Works With Chromebook, and Intel vPro on the Business product page.
For an individual home user, Sync and fleet management usually provide little extra value. The Business edition becomes more compelling when Logi Bolt or corporate deployment is itself the requirement.

Logitech’s Mac specification lists Bluetooth Low Energy, a 125-Hz USB and Bluetooth report rate, a 10-meter wireless range, 200–8,000 DPI, and Logi Options+ support. Confirm the current macOS requirement on Logitech’s regional support page before purchase because operating-system support can change.
To pair the Mac edition using the procedure in Logitech’s quick-start guide:
- Turn on the mouse using the switch on its underside.
- If the LED does not blink quickly, hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the Mac, select MX Master 4 for Mac, and complete pairing.
If pairing fails, charge the mouse if the LED does not activate. Repeat the three-second Easy-Switch hold to re-enter pairing mode. If macOS retains a stale or corrupted entry, remove the old MX Master 4 device from Bluetooth settings and pair it again.

Compatibility beyond Mac
The Business specification lists Windows 10 and 11 or later, macOS 12 or later, ChromeOS, Linux, Android 12 or later, and iPadOS 15 or later. Basic functions may work without Logitech software on systems other than Windows and macOS, but advanced configuration is more limited.
For a Mac-and-Windows setup, the standard model is generally the most straightforward comparison. The Business version is worth considering when Logi Bolt and centralized management matter. The Mac label alone is not a reason to rule out the Mac edition for every Windows user, but verify the exact receiver and software requirements before purchase.
Is the MX Master 4 worth $119.99?
For a new buyer who will use the mouse for hours every day, the MX Master 4’s value depends less on the 8,000-DPI headline and more on its workflow features. Haptic feedback, Actions Ring, horizontal scrolling, multi-device switching, quiet clicking, and long battery life can justify the price for users who will actually use them.

The case is weaker when the MX Master 3S is heavily discounted. Existing 3S owners should upgrade primarily if one of these changes solves a real problem:
- You want configurable haptics or the Actions Ring.
- You experience connectivity issues and want to try Logitech’s newer radio and antenna design.
- You use a high-resolution or multi-monitor setup where 8,000 DPI is useful.
- You value quieter clicking or want the newer interaction features enough to replace a working mouse.
There is no evidence here that every MX Master 3S owner will see a dramatic improvement in everyday pointing accuracy. If the 3S already meets your needs and is substantially cheaper, it may offer better value.
Who should skip it?
- Left-handed users: the MX Master 4 remains a large, right-handed design.
- Travel-focused users: it is not a small or lightweight mobile mouse.
- Gaming buyers: lightweight gaming mice are better suited to low weight and gaming-oriented polling performance.
- Hardware-only users: Actions Ring, profiles, haptics, and extensive button customization depend on Logitech software.
- Replaceable-battery buyers: the battery is not user-replaceable according to Logitech’s Mac specifications.
- Budget buyers: a discounted MX Master 3S may be the smarter purchase.
- Users seeking a different wrist position: a vertical ergonomic mouse may better fit a hand-comfort priority.
Alternatives to consider
The MX Master 3S is the most direct value alternative if its price has fallen substantially. It preserves the general ergonomic concept and productivity controls, although it lacks the MX Master 4’s newly promoted haptics and Actions Ring.
Apple’s Magic Mouse is a natural Mac comparison for buyers who prioritize Apple styling and gesture interaction. It takes a different approach from the MX Master’s thumbwheel, ergonomic shape, and extensive productivity controls.

The Logitech MX Master 4 is a real worldwide product launch, but the launch family contains three meaningfully different editions. Choose the standard MX Master 4 for general or mixed-platform productivity, the Mac edition for its finishes and Bluetooth-first positioning, and the Business edition for Logi Bolt, authorized business purchasing, and centralized fleet management.
The upgrade is most convincing for users who will use haptics, Actions Ring, quieter clicking, or improved connectivity. Existing MX Master 3S owners should compare the current local price before upgrading, because a heavily discounted 3S remains a credible value choice.
