The LG Q6 is a 2017 mid-range Android phone best known for bringing LG’s 18:9 “FullVision” display design to a more affordable line. Its 5.5-inch screen and compact body were notable at launch; in 2026, its old software, modest hardware, micro-USB port, and model-specific network limits make it mainly a used, backup, or offline device. Before buying one for cellular use, identify the exact model number and confirm it works on your carrier.
What is the LG Q6?
LG announced the Q6 on July 11, 2017, as the first phone in its Q series. It adapted the 18:9 FullVision display design associated with the flagship LG G6 for a lower-priced product line. The Q6 name can refer to the base model or, informally, to the family of Q6, Q6+ and Q6α variants. Availability, colors and regional model numbers differed by market. LG’s launch announcement said international availability would begin in selected markets in August 2017.
Names such as LGM703, LGM700N and LGUS700 identify particular regional or carrier versions; they are not interchangeable labels. Check the model number rather than relying on a listing that says only “LG Q6.”

LG Q6 vs. Q6+ vs. Q6α
The family’s main documented distinction is memory and storage. The rest of the configuration and exact availability can vary with region and model number.

LG’s announcement of the Q6 family identifies these tiers. On a used device, verify the model number and actual storage in Settings; a product name alone does not establish which variant you are getting.

Display and design
The 5.5-inch 2160 × 1080 IPS LCD has an 18:9 aspect ratio and about 442 pixels per inch. At launch, the taller screen and rounded display corners were a central part of the Q6’s appeal, fitting a relatively compact 142.5 × 69.3mm body. LG positioned the reduced-bezel design for comfortable one-handed use; that is the manufacturer’s design claim, not a guarantee that it will fit every hand or task. “FullVision” does not mean the screen has no bezels, and this is an LCD, not an OLED panel.
Cameras and other features
The standard Q6 pairs a 13MP rear camera with a 5MP front camera whose wide-angle view is specified at approximately 100 degrees. LG also listed Square Camera modes, including GIF-related features, in regional materials. These are hardware and feature descriptions, not evidence of image quality alongside current phones; the cited specifications do not establish how well a used unit’s cameras perform today.
The Q6 includes face-recognition unlocking. Treat it as a convenience feature, not as equivalent to a modern secure biometric system. NFC appears in several regional specifications, but it should be checked on the exact model rather than assumed. LG’s U.S. support page provides product support and manuals for the unlocked LG Q6, not a current retail listing: LG U.S. support for LGUS700.
Performance, battery and storage in practical use
The Snapdragon 435 is a 2017 entry-level mobile platform. Based on that hardware and its age, the Q6 is better suited to basic calls, messaging, web use, music and light applications than demanding games or heavy multitasking. The 4GB Q6+ has more memory than the base Q6, but shares the same processor family; the extra RAM does not make it a modern-performance phone. These are specification-based expectations, not benchmark results.
LG lists a 3,000mAh embedded battery and Quick Charge 2.0 in its Canadian specification sheet. A used phone’s battery condition matters more than that original capacity: rapid discharge, unexpected shutdowns, unusual heat or a swollen case are reasons to avoid the device or stop using it. Battery replacement is less straightforward than with a removable-battery phone and may require repair service. The port is micro-USB, not USB-C; charging performance depends on the compatible charger and cable.
The base model’s 32GB is nominal capacity, with some space occupied by Android and preinstalled software. A microSD card can add room for media and some data, but it does not improve the processor or make apps load faster. Confirm the card tray and card inclusion with the seller.

Android version and software support
The Q6 launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Update histories may differ by country, carrier, exact model and firmware. The available LG materials do not establish one universal final Android version or security-patch date for every Q6 variant, so check the individual phone under Settings before relying on it.
For a 2026 buyer, an old Android installation may have security and app-compatibility limitations. Do not assume that banking, work-authentication or other sensitive apps remain supported or safe on a particular unit; verify the software and security status and consider a currently supported phone for those uses.
Carrier compatibility: check the exact model
The Q6 family supports GSM, 3G and LTE, but LTE bands differ by regional version. In the United States, Amazon’s 2017 announcement described its unlocked LG Q6 offer as supporting AT&T and T-Mobile networks at that time. That historical statement is not a present-day compatibility guarantee: network changes, VoLTE requirements, band support and carrier provisioning can affect service. A model that once used 3G may lose functions in places where 3G service has been retired.

Before buying for cellular use, match the phone’s complete model number and supported bands to the carrier’s current requirements, and confirm VoLTE support with the carrier. Ask the seller for the IMEI, carrier history and evidence that calls and LTE data work on the intended network. “Unlocked” alone does not ensure coverage or reliable service.

Used LG Q6 buying checklist
- Identify the variant: Check the model number in Settings or on the device label, then verify RAM and storage.
- Check ownership and lock status: Obtain the IMEI and confirm it is not reported lost or stolen; verify any advertised unlock status with the intended carrier.
- Test the network: Use a physical SIM on the intended carrier and place a call, then test LTE data. The Q6 does not use eSIM, so do not assume eSIM support.
- Inspect battery and charging: Watch for swelling, abnormal heat, rapid drain and shutdowns; test the micro-USB port with a known-good cable and charger.
- Test the hardware: Check the full touchscreen, both cameras, flash, speaker, microphones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC if needed.
- Check software: Review Android version and security-patch date, and confirm the apps you need can still be installed and used.
- Avoid Factory Reset Protection surprises: Before a reset, have the seller remove their Google account and confirm the phone can be activated after wiping.
LG said the Q6 used a 7000-series aluminum frame and was “designed with MIL-STD-810G in mind.” That wording does not establish that every retail unit passed every military test, and the cited materials do not establish a waterproof or IP rating. - For a daily phone: A newer entry-level Android phone is generally the more sensible choice for current software, app support, USB-C and newer cellular capabilities.
