PCWorld calls it “Best smart lock overall” and reports Matter compatibility. Its conventional deadbolt appearance avoids the bulky look of many smart locks, while touch, phone, Apple Watch and RFID options give household members several ways to unlock.
Budget for the connectivity hardware you actually need. PCWorld’s reviewed setup required a $79 Level Connect bridge for Wi-Fi and a $79 Level Keypad, bringing the stated package total to $507. Do not assume every retailer bundle includes either accessory.
Choose Level Lock+ for Apple Home Key and a preserved exterior
Level Lock+ puts its electronics inside the deadbolt, so the outside of the door can retain its existing appearance and physical key. Its defining feature is Apple Home Key tap entry through Apple Home. Circuit & Chime describes it as a lock that hides its technology inside the existing deadbolt. The September 20, 2026 Amazon observation of $264.68 was a snapshot, not a guaranteed sale price. The same report used $349 as the reference price. Check the current seller, condition, delivery date and return terms before treating the lower figure as an offer.
Choose Level Bolt when the outside of the door must not change
Level Bolt is the retrofit path to investigate if you rent, have building rules about exterior hardware, or simply want to keep the existing thumb turn, cylinder and keys. Confirm that your current deadbolt is compatible before ordering; the cited material does not establish a current price.

- Lock: Use the current model price, not an old reference price.
- Bridge: Level Connect was listed at $79 in PCWorld’s 2026 review. It can be necessary for Wi-Fi features on the Pro configuration.
- Keypad: Level Keypad was also listed at $79 in that review if you want code entry.
- Installation: Add labor if you are not replacing a compatible deadbolt yourself.
- Tax and shipping: These vary by location and seller.
- Returns and seller: Marketplace listings can differ in condition, warranty and included accessories.
A low lock-only price can therefore be less attractive than a clearly labeled bundle. Compare the exact contents of each box before checkout.
How to check an advertised Level Lock offer
- Confirm the exact model name: Pro, Lock+, Lock+ Connect or Bolt.
- Record the model number where shown; Best Buy’s documented Connect listing is C-F12U-S1.
- Check whether Level Connect, a keypad, batteries and mounting hardware are included.
- Verify seller identity, new-versus-used condition, delivery date and return window.
- Compare the final checkout total after tax and shipping with the lock-only price.
- Confirm your door, deadbolt and smart-home ecosystem meet the model’s requirements.

Level Connect is the bridge to examine when a Level Lock Pro installation needs Wi-Fi or wider smart-home connectivity. PCWorld lists it at $79 in the reviewed configuration. Whether it is necessary depends on your network, platform and the features you intend to use; do not add it automatically if your planned setup only needs local control.
