OpenPhone is now called Quo. It is not a separate competitor, so this comparison uses “OpenPhone (now Quo)” to connect the familiar search term with the current product name. As of August 18, 2026, Quo is usually the better value for a small team that needs shared calling, texting, and a simple business number. JustCall is the stronger fit for sales and support operations that will use dialers, CRM logging, structured routing, analytics, automation, WhatsApp, or coaching tools.
The headline subscription price is only the starting point. Seat minimums, extra numbers, international minutes, SMS segments, API traffic, and AI usage can change the result.
Quick verdict

What changed: OpenPhone is now Quo
Quo’s official documentation and resource center identify the current brand as Quo. Existing reviews, integrations, browser searches, and customer discussions may still say OpenPhone. “Quo” therefore means the current product formerly known as OpenPhone, not a second service. See the Quo Resource Center for current product terminology.

Calling, texting, and phone numbers
Quo
Quo includes calling and messaging to US and Canadian numbers in its plans, with voice, SMS/MMS, shared contacts, voicemail transcription, scheduled messages, snippets, auto-replies, and internal threads. International calls and messages use prepaid credits at country-specific rates; API and automation messages can also consume credits. Details are in Quo’s international-calling documentation and credits and usage documentation.
Rank #2
- 25-Minute Digital Answering System — Never miss a message again. Record up to 25 minutes of incoming calls, outgoing announcements, and memos with easy instant playback, selective save/delete, and the ability to skip or repeat messages right from the handset or base
- Extra-Large Tiltable Backlit Display — See Caller ID names, numbers, time, and date at a glance — even Call Waiting. The oversized LCD tilts for the perfect viewing angle, reducing strain for seniors and anyone with vision needs
- Oversized Big Buttons — Large, high-contrast keys are easy to read and press — ideal for elderly users, arthritis, or low vision. Simple, frustration-free dialing every time
- Hands-Free Speakerphone — Talk and listen comfortably without holding the handset. Perfect for multitasking, note-taking, or including the whole family in the conversation
- Reliable Corded Design with Audio Assist — Works even during power outages. Audio Assist temporarily boosts volume and clarity for better hearing, plus an extra-loud ringer with visual flashing indicator
Quo currently offers US and Canadian numbers and North American toll-free numbers, rather than a broad catalog of new local numbers worldwide. Porting and number-type eligibility should be checked before switching. Removing a number permanently removes the call and messaging data associated with it, according to Quo’s phone-number documentation.

JustCall combines the subscription with bundled usage and pay-as-you-go credits. Destination, number type, route, and region determine whether a call or message is included. US/Canada Team plans introduced from June 10, 2025 advertise unlimited inbound and outbound calling, but legacy plans may have different limits and “unlimited” does not make every international route free. Find the applicable destination price in JustCall’s call and SMS rate guide.
Shared numbers and collaboration
Quo is built around multiple users answering and texting from shared numbers, with conversation history, shared contacts, internal notes, and team visibility. It is a natural fit when the goal is “any available teammate can reply.” Extra numbers cost $5 monthly, so agencies should model one client number per account or workspace.
JustCall also supports team calling, transfers, recordings, transcripts, routing, and CRM activity. Its advantage appears when conversations must be assigned, measured, coached, or automatically written into operational systems rather than simply shared in an inbox.
Sales dialing and outbound work
This is the clearest product boundary. JustCall promotes auto, predictive, and dynamic dialers, call lists, dispositions, voicemail drops, local-presence calling, automated follow-ups, and CRM logging. Those capabilities suit a sales team making repeatable outbound attempts. Confirm which dialer and coaching controls are included in Team versus Pro or a custom package.
Quo is better understood as conversational calling and texting with a lighter power-dialer story. It can support follow-up conversations, but a team that needs pacing, list management, dispositions, and supervisor reporting should start with JustCall.
Rank #3
- Quick and easy installation: Connect the main console to analog lines via RJ11; cordless handsets/desksets pair wirelessly with one-touch DECT 6.0 technology—no professional wiring or assistance needed for fast small office setup.
- Expandable to 10 stations: Grow your 4-line small business phone system seamlessly by adding up to 9 cordless handsets or desksets—ideal for scaling operations without replacing equipment.
- Professional auto attendant per line: Automatically answers calls on each of the 4 lines, offers company directory access, routes to extensions, and records voicemail for efficient, polished call management.
- Reliable digital answering system: Captures up to 180 shared minutes of incoming messages, announcements, and memos—ensuring no important calls are missed during busy hours.
- Enhanced productivity features: Full-duplex speakerphone for natural conversations, extra-large display, caller ID/call waiting, 100-name phonebook, 32 speed dials, cordless headset support, intercom, and customizable music-on-hold via 2.5mm jack.
Support routing and call-center workflows
Compare the actual call path your agents need:
- Business hours and holiday schedules
- Auto-attendants and IVR menus
- Simultaneous ringing, ring order, and forwarding
- Queues, transfers, holds, and escalation
- Missed-call follow-up and voicemail
- Abandoned-call and agent-performance reporting
Quo lists forwarding, phone menus, analytics, and AI summaries on higher plans rather than Starter. JustCall is the more credible default for formal support operations, but verify the exact queue, IVR, and reporting controls in the selected plan.
AI: summaries are not the same as an AI agent
Quo AI and Sona
Quo Business and Scale plans add AI summaries and transcripts; Scale adds AI call tags. Sona is an optional inbound AI receptionist on all Quo plans. Every plan includes 1,000 free automation credits, described as approximately 10 calls; paid tiers start at $25 monthly, then $49, $99, and $199. Sona currently answers inbound calls and does not place outbound calls. See Quo Sona for current usage terms.
JustCall AI
JustCall provides summaries and transcription, plus review and coaching-related features and an AI Voice Agent. Its help documentation lists pay-as-you-go at $0.99 per minute, Agent Lite at $99 monthly with 100 included minutes, and Agent Max at $249 monthly with 300 included minutes; overage is $0.99 per minute. The same documentation mentions 50 free testing minutes. See JustCall AI Voice Agent pricing.
When comparing AI, ask whether it summarizes a completed call, assists a live agent, tags or scores calls, answers inbound callers, takes action in a connected system, and whether usage is included, capped, or separately billed.
CRM integrations, automation, and APIs
Quo’s listed connections include HubSpot, Salesforce, Jobber, Pipedrive, Attio, Gong, Zapier, Make, webhooks, and an API. Zapier and Make provide access to many other apps, but a connector is not the same as a native, two-way CRM integration. Check whether calls, recordings, transcripts, summaries, dispositions, and SMS sync automatically, and whether messages incur credit charges. Documentation is available at Quo integrations and Quo API documentation.
JustCall’s materials claim more than 100 CRM, helpdesk, and collaboration integrations, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Zendesk, and Slack. Verify the specific connector, plan requirement, supported objects, logging behavior, API limits, and whether two-way synchronization is included before treating that count as a buying advantage.

International operations
For a US- or Canada-based local business, either service may work. Quo’s domestic plans are straightforward, but international calls and texts draw from country-specific prepaid rates and its new-number availability is geographically limited. JustCall markets broader international coverage, yet exact local-number availability and rates still depend on destination, number type, and regulation.
If your team needs local numbers in several countries, investigate JustCall first. If agents mainly use US or Canadian numbers to contact overseas customers, compare the actual per-minute and per-message tables rather than domestic “unlimited” headlines.
Compliance and administration
Both platforms require operational controls beyond the pricing page. Confirm SMS registration, consent and opt-out handling, call-recording notices, data retention and export, admin permissions, number ownership, porting, AI data processing, and regional availability. Quo’s pricing material lists HIPAA compliance on Business; that is a plan-level product claim, not a guarantee that every implementation is legally compliant. Obtain the provider’s current contractual and privacy terms for regulated work.
Which product fits your business?
Solo consultant
Choose Quo first. Its one-user option avoids paying for an unused JustCall seat and supplies a business number, calling, texting, and voicemail. Move up to Business if you need analytics, phone menus, or AI summaries.
Two-person sales team
Quo Starter costs less, but JustCall Team may justify the difference if both people use a dialer and CRM automation every day. If calls are mostly relationship-based conversations, Quo is the less complicated choice.

Small local business or e-commerce team
Quo usually fits conversational customer service: a shared number, texts, voicemail, and internal collaboration. Choose JustCall when agents need queues, escalation, structured reporting, or outbound campaigns.
Agency managing many client numbers
Calculate Quo’s $5 monthly charge for every number beyond each user allocation and compare it with JustCall’s current number allowances and regional charges. Confirm whether deleting or replacing a number affects retained history.
International company
Start with number availability and destination rates, not the domestic plan price. JustCall deserves the first investigation for multiple-country local numbers; neither product should be selected without a country-by-country cost model.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAI receptionist buyer
Compare Sona’s credit and call model with JustCall’s per-minute AI Voice Agent model. Decide whether you need inbound answering only, outbound actions, CRM updates, escalation, or simple message capture.
Regulated business
Request the exact compliance, privacy, retention, and recording documentation for your deployment. A feature label such as “HIPAA” does not replace a legal and security review.
Also consider
Aircall is worth evaluating for formal call-center and sales-support operations. Dialpad emphasizes unified communications and AI. RingCentral offers broader enterprise telephony and administration. Google Voice can suit a Google Workspace-centric organization with basic needs. CloudTalk is relevant to outbound and international sales teams, while Zoom Phone may be practical when the company already standardizes on Zoom. Their current prices and feature availability require separate verification.
