The JiaYu G5 is a discontinued Android smartphone released in 2013. Its best-documented Advanced/Flagship configuration pairs a 4.5-inch 720p display with a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. A standard version is also reported, with less memory and storage, and battery capacity varies by configuration. The specifications below distinguish those versions and flag figures that period sources do not establish uniformly.

The model label matters most when checking memory, storage and battery. Period reports use “Advanced,” “Flagship” and sometimes simply “G5” for the higher configuration, so the name in a listing alone may not settle which unit is being sold.

The lower-memory figures are less consistently documented than the Advanced configuration. The comparison in ProfesionalReview’s 2013 comparison lists the standard configuration, while launch and database coverage describe the higher-memory model.
Design and display
The JiaYu G5 was compact by the standards of its era, with a 4.5-inch screen and dimensions of about 130 × 63.5 × 7.9 mm. Its advertised metal construction is best described as metal or stainless steel with plastic elements: contemporary descriptions do not consistently characterize every external part as metal. A removable rear cover gives access to the removable battery.
The 1,280 × 720 IPS/OGS display works out to approximately 326 pixels per inch. Gorilla Glass 2 protection is reported in the GizChina hands-on report and PhoneDB specification entry. For a 2013 compact phone, that was a sharp resolution; it does not by itself establish brightness, color accuracy or condition on a used handset.

Processor and expected performance
The MT6589T is a 32-bit MediaTek chipset with four ARM Cortex-A7 cores clocked at up to 1.5 GHz and a PowerVR SGX544-class GPU. That hardware was intended for ordinary Android use and games of its period. Today, the G5’s old 32-bit platform and Android 4.2-era software make it a poor fit for many current apps and services. No official modern Android upgrade is established in the available coverage, and specific benchmark scores should not be inferred from the component list.
Cameras
Period specifications describe a 13 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, plus a 3 MP front camera. Some databases give the rear sensor’s effective resolution as about 12.8 MP; that is compatible with commercial listings rounding the figure to 13 MP. Reports identify the rear sensor as Sony, but the megapixel count and sensor attribution do not establish present-day image quality, low-light performance or video capabilities.

The reported standard removable battery is 2,000 mAh. Contemporary launch coverage also describes a 3,000 mAh option or higher-capacity version, so neither figure should be treated as universal. No reliable standardized battery-life test is established by the cited specifications.
For a used handset or replacement battery, check the installed battery’s label and fit rather than relying on a listing title. Inspect for swelling, confirm the connector and physical dimensions match, and treat an advertised capacity as unverified until the battery is identified and tested.
Connectivity, SIM and software
The G5 is reported to support dual SIM with dual standby, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC and USB OTG. Contemporary listings also describe microSD expansion, with one period specification claiming support up to 64 GB. That capacity is not a guarantee that every modern card will work correctly on this old software.
The handset launched with Android 4.2-series Jelly Bean. Contemporary listings vary between Android 4.2 and 4.2.1, which may reflect different builds or reporting; the available evidence does not establish one version for every production batch. The reported mobile-network support is primarily 2G/3G, with no LTE specification identified in launch coverage. Exact radio bands and regional variants are not reliably established, so compatibility depends on the particular handset and local carrier network. A phone that relies on 3G may also lose service where that network has been retired.
What to check before buying a JiaYu G5 today
The JiaYu G5 is a discontinued 2013 phone, not a current product with a dependable support or retail ecosystem. Any units encountered now are likely to be used, refurbished, imported or leftover stock; current pricing and parts availability are not established here.
