There is no single best IT outsourcing company in the USA. The right provider depends on what you need outsourced: a global systems integrator may suit a multinational cloud or infrastructure transformation, while a regional managed service provider (MSP) may be a better fit for a mid-sized business that needs help-desk, endpoint, and Microsoft 365 support. Software-development firms, cybersecurity specialists, and infrastructure operators are different kinds of providers—not interchangeable entries in one ranking.

This guide groups companies by likely fit, explains what outsourcing can include, and gives you a practical way to compare delivery location, service levels, security, pricing, transition risk, and exit terms. The companies below are a research shortlist, not an endorsement or universal ranking.

IT outsourcing companies in the USA by use case

“U.S. company” can mean U.S.-headquartered, serving U.S. customers, or delivering the actual work from the United States. Those are not the same. Confirm where each role will be based and how the service will be staffed before treating a provider as an onshore option.

Software product development EPAM, GlobalLogic, Globant, Persistent Systems, ScienceSoft, BairesDev More aligned to building and evolving software than to routine infrastructure or desktop support.
Mid-market managed IT Presidio, CDW, SHI, Thrive, Ntiva, All Covered, regional MSPs Often more practical for service desk, endpoint, network, cloud, and security needs than a global integrator.
ERP or SAP outsourcing IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, Capgemini, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS Large enterprise-platform ecosystems and implementation or support capacity; validate the exact product and industry expertise.
Mainframe and mission-critical operations Kyndryl, IBM, DXC Technology, NTT DATA Infrastructure-oriented providers with relevant legacy and high-availability operating experience.

Analyst coverage can help create a shortlist, but it is market-specific rather than a universal verdict. Gartner’s digital technology and business consulting coverage and its data-center outsourcing coverage address different markets. ISG’s 2026 U.S. digital-engineering findings likewise assess providers by defined capabilities or quadrants. Do not turn inclusion in an analyst report into a claim that a firm is best for every buyer.

Large enterprise outsourcing providers

These global providers can bring scale, broad technical coverage, and international delivery capacity. That can be valuable for a complex, multi-country program, but the same breadth may mean more governance, contract complexity, and delivery layers. Ask to meet the people who would actually run your service—not only the sales and proposal team.

  • Accenture: Broad managed services and transformation across infrastructure, cloud, applications, data, and other technology operations. Its managed-services overview is a starting point. Typically more appropriate for complex or large-scale engagements than basic small-business IT support.
  • IBM Consulting: Consider for hybrid cloud, enterprise applications, automation, and infrastructure-intensive environments. Review its consulting services and establish exactly which ongoing operations are included in a proposed scope.
  • Cognizant: Offers application, cloud, and industry-focused services. Check its service portfolio, then validate the proposed team’s relevant domain experience and U.S. support model.
  • Deloitte: Combines technology advice, transformation, implementation, and some managed-service offerings. Its consulting portfolio is broader than a conventional MSP; clarify whether you need a strategy partner, an operator, or both.
  • Capgemini: Works across cloud, applications, engineering, data, infrastructure, and transformation. Review its services and compare the proposed local, nearshore, and offshore delivery mix.
  • HCLTech: Relevant to large infrastructure, workplace, cloud, engineering, and application programs. Its services cover a wide range; assess transition approach, account governance, and the specific operating team.
  • Infosys: Provides cloud, application modernization, engineering, AI, and managed services. Its cloud managed-services description details areas including monitoring, backup, patching, disaster recovery, security, and compliance. Confirm coverage, escalation, and price model for your environment.
  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): Offers application, engineering, infrastructure, and business-technology services through its services portfolio. Buyers with smaller scopes should test whether the proposed engagement size and account model are practical.
  • Wipro: Covers cloud, cybersecurity, applications, infrastructure, and engineering. Review its services and ask how service ownership, account governance, and transition will work in practice.
  • NTT DATA: Offers infrastructure, cloud, applications, data, and industry solutions through its U.S. services portfolio. It may be worth considering for global operations or complex environments; verify the relevant U.S. delivery capacity.
  • DXC Technology: Relevant to infrastructure-heavy work, including data-center, workplace, cloud, and application services. Its offerings may suit legacy environments and larger operations better than a lightweight monthly MSP requirement.
  • Kyndryl: Focuses on infrastructure management, hybrid cloud, networks, mainframe, and mission-critical operations. See its services. A buyer seeking primarily product development may need a separate engineering partner.

These descriptions identify areas to investigate, not independently verified performance rankings. Capabilities can vary by business unit, contract, geography, and the team assigned to a particular account.

Software development and digital-engineering providers

Engineering firms are often a better match than infrastructure outsourcers when the requirement is to build a product, modernize an application, automate testing, or add a dedicated development team. Distinguish a managed outcome—the vendor owns delivery against agreed results—from staff augmentation, where supplied people work under your managers.

  • EPAM: Consider for product engineering, software development, cloud, data, and digital platforms. See EPAM’s services. Its engineering focus does not by itself establish suitability for local field support or a conventional 24/7 service desk.
  • GlobalLogic: Digital engineering, product development, embedded systems, and connected experiences are areas to explore. Review its services and clarify who owns architecture, product decisions, and delivery acceptance.
  • Globant: Offers digital products, experience design, AI, cloud, and software engineering through its services portfolio. It may align more naturally to product and customer-experience work than to day-to-day infrastructure operations.
  • Persistent Systems: Provides cloud, data, software engineering, and enterprise modernization services. Check its portfolio against the specific platform and industry experience you need.
  • Virtusa: Offers digital engineering and application services with industry experience in areas including banking, insurance, and healthcare. See its services; relevant domain expertise may matter more than general company scale.
  • ScienceSoft: A potential candidate for focused software development, cybersecurity, data, IT consulting, or managed-service work. Review its service list and verify operational coverage if you require continuous infrastructure support.
  • BairesDev: Consider for software development, dedicated teams, or staff augmentation. See its services; establish whether the proposal supplies individual capacity or takes responsibility for a defined delivery outcome.

ISG’s 2026 U.S. digital-engineering research names a range of global and engineering-oriented firms among leaders in evaluated quadrants. Treat that as evidence about the covered market, not proof that a company is the right size, price, or delivery model for your project.

Managed IT providers for small and mid-sized businesses

An MSP typically takes ongoing responsibility for an agreed set of IT operations under a recurring contract and service-level agreement (SLA). A global systems integrator may have greater breadth for transformation, but an MSP or regional provider can be a more direct fit for employee support, endpoint management, network administration, Microsoft 365, backups, and routine security operations.

Potential providers to compare include Presidio, CDW, SHI, Thrive, Ntiva, All Covered, Rackspace Technology, and local or regional MSPs. Their offerings are not identical: some emphasize infrastructure integration or cloud, while others focus on managed IT and support. Ask each to quote the same users, devices, coverage hours, security services, on-site needs, and response targets. A local firm may offer faster access to field technicians or senior staff; it may also have less geographic reach or fewer specialists. A directory such as Clutch’s U.S. IT-services listings can help surface candidates, but directory presence is not a quality ranking.

What IT work can be outsourced?

Outsourcing can cover a whole function or a narrow task. Define the boundary: which systems, hours, locations, tools, and decisions are included, and what remains with your employees.

Service area Common outsourced work Typical commercial model Question to settle early
Infrastructure and data center Server and operating-system management, network monitoring, storage, backups, disaster recovery, data-center operations, hybrid-cloud operations, infrastructure automation Managed-service fee, capacity or consumption model Who owns patching, restoration testing, changes, and after-hours response?
Cloud operations AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud migration and management; FinOps; Kubernetes; platform engineering; cloud security and reliability Fixed fee, consumption-based, or blended Who controls access, architecture decisions, and cloud spend?
Applications and ERP Development, maintenance, modernization, integration, testing, release engineering, and SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, or Microsoft platform support Project, retainer, dedicated team, or service-level contract Which applications, customizations, severities, and upgrades are in scope?
Help desk and end-user IT Tier 1–3 service desk, desktop and device support, identity administration, Microsoft 365, onboarding and offboarding Per user, per device, per ticket, or monthly fee Does “24/7” mean monitoring, staffed support, response, or resolution?
Cybersecurity Security operations, managed detection and response, vulnerability management, identity and access management, compliance monitoring, incident response, assessments Subscription, managed service, retainer, or project Who leads an incident, makes decisions, and reports to regulators or customers?
Data, analytics, and AI Data platforms, warehouses and lakehouses, BI, data governance, machine-learning operations, generative-AI implementation Project, dedicated team, or managed service Who controls data access, quality, model use, and ongoing knowledge?
Product engineering Web and mobile products, UX/UI, embedded systems, test automation, dedicated development teams, AI-enabled features Time and materials, fixed project, or dedicated team Who owns source code, architecture, product decisions, and acceptance?

Cloud infrastructure purchased directly from a cloud provider is not, by itself, outsourcing: the buyer may still operate it. Likewise, consulting may recommend or implement a change without taking ongoing responsibility for the resulting service.

What IT outsourcing costs in the USA

There is no dependable single price for “IT outsourcing.” A quote depends on the number of users, devices, servers, applications, coverage hours, response targets, complexity, security and compliance requirements, delivery location, transition work, and whether the provider is accountable for outcomes or merely supplies labor.

As a dated directional reference, EPAM’s provider-published 2024 outsourcing guide gives indicative hourly ranges of $50–$250 for the USA/Canada, $25–$50 for Eastern Europe, and $10–$20 for India. These are not independent 2026 market benchmarks or quotes; a role’s seniority, specialization, delivery terms, and engagement model can change the actual price substantially.

Common pricing models

  • Time and materials: Pay for hours used. Flexible for discovery or changing scope, but budget and delivery efficiency need active management.
  • Fixed-price project: Pay a set amount for defined deliverables. Works best when requirements and acceptance criteria are clear; changes can trigger disputes or costly change orders.
  • Dedicated team: Pay for a team or reserved capacity over time. Useful for continuing engineering, but the client may retain considerable product and people management.
  • Per-user or per-device managed service: Recurring charge for a defined support package. Check exclusions for after-hours work, security tools, project work, and on-site visits.
  • Consumption-based: Charges track usage, cloud resources, tickets, or managed capacity. This can match variable demand but needs cost visibility, usage limits, and governance.
  • Outcome-based or gain-sharing: Fees depend partly on agreed results. Use only when the outcome, baseline, measurement, and attribution are clear enough to prevent disputes.

For a fair comparison, request a three-year total-cost view that includes transition, service management, tooling, licenses, cloud charges or markups, travel, emergency support, annual increases, minimums, overages, and transition-out assistance. IBM describes consumption-based managed-service arrangements in its managed-services material; that is one possible structure, not a universal price list. Similarly, public illustrative pricing should not be mistaken for a negotiated commercial quote.

U.S.-based, nearshore, and offshore delivery

Onshore delivery can simplify time-zone coordination, in-person work, language alignment, and some regulatory or contractual requirements. It may cost more and does not guarantee stronger service. Nearshore teams may overlap more easily with U.S. working hours; offshore delivery can expand available capacity and lower labor cost, but can require more deliberate handoffs, documentation, and oversight.

Choose by role rather than slogan. Ask for a delivery-location matrix naming where service management, engineering, support, security operations, and escalation roles will sit, plus the planned staffing proportions. Confirm U.S. business-hours coverage, local field service, customer data access, subcontracting, travel, and whether the vendor can change the delivery mix without approval. If a contract or regulation requires particular personnel or locations, document that constraint and verify it against the actual service design.

How to choose an IT outsourcing company

  1. Define the outcome. State the problem and desired result: faster incident restoration, product capacity, predictable support, modernization, or another measurable objective.
  2. Inventory your environment. Document users, sites, applications, infrastructure, cloud accounts, dependencies, current providers, contracts, and known operational pain points.
  3. Decide what stays internal. Retain ownership of business-critical decisions, architecture, security risk, or institutional knowledge where outsourcing would weaken control or resilience.
  4. Set geography and compliance requirements. Specify required work locations, support hours, data access restrictions, applicable obligations, and subcontractor conditions.
  5. Create a service catalog and boundaries. List included services, exclusions, volumes, severity definitions, hours, and dependencies on your staff or other vendors.
  6. Issue an RFI or RFP. Ask shortlisted providers to answer the same scope, SLA, staffing, security, transition, and pricing questions so proposals are comparable.
  7. Score evidence, not presentation quality. Rate scope fit, technical capability, industry experience, delivery location, security, transition plan, governance, and commercial transparency.
  8. Interview the proposed team. Meet the service-delivery manager, technical leads, security contact, escalation owner, and key engineers—not only account executives.
  9. Check relevant references. Seek clients with similar size, service scope, industry, and contract model. Ask for examples of both steady-state reporting and incident handling.
  10. Run a workshop or pilot where practical. Test tool integration, escalation paths, operational assumptions, or engineering collaboration before committing the full scope.
  11. Negotiate measurable terms and exit rights. Define SLAs, security responsibilities, price adjustment, staffing substitutions, data and code ownership, transition assistance, and termination conditions.
  12. Plan transition and stabilization. Fund discovery, documentation, knowledge transfer, access setup, a parallel run if appropriate, and explicit acceptance gates before the provider takes full responsibility.

Build a vendor scorecard

There is no universal scoring formula, but a written scorecard prevents brand recognition or the lowest hourly rate from dominating a decision. Score each bidder against the actual service being purchased, not against capabilities irrelevant to the engagement.

Criterion Evidence to request
Scope fit Comparable delivery examples for the exact service—help desk, cloud operations, software engineering, cybersecurity, ERP, or another defined need.
Geography and staffing Role-by-role locations, onshore/nearshore/offshore proportions, coverage hours, field capability, subcontractors, and substitution terms.
Industry and compliance Relevant experience and specific controls or attestations, audit rights, data location, and a clear responsibility matrix.
Technical capability Supported platforms and tools, integrations, automation practices, legacy support, disaster recovery, and proposed architecture.
Service performance Definitions and targets for availability, response, restoration, resolution, request fulfillment, security escalation, and reporting.
Transition plan Discovery, asset and dependency records, runbooks, knowledge transfer, incumbent exit, parallel operation, milestones, and stabilization.
Commercial clarity Rate or fee assumptions, minimum volumes, overages, exclusions, escalation, license pass-through, travel, cloud charges, and exit fees.
Governance and continuity Named accountable leads, escalation chain, review cadence, backup coverage, team turnover, and sample reports.
Portability and exit Ownership and export of data, source code, configurations, documentation, credentials, deletion evidence, and successor-provider support.

For regulated work, do not accept a general assurance that a provider is “secure” or “compliant.” Map the specific obligations—such as HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, FedRAMP, FINRA controls, GDPR, CMMC, or state privacy requirements—to the service, data, contract, and responsible party. A certification or audit report indicates defined controls; it does not guarantee uptime, response quality, or compliance for your particular use.

Questions to ask before signing

  • Where will each role work, what share of delivery is U.S.-based, and can that mix change?
  • Which subcontractors or affiliates can access systems or data, and how are they disclosed and controlled?
  • What does 24/7 coverage mean: monitoring, a staffed desk, incident response, restoration, or resolution?
  • What are the severity definitions, response and restoration targets, exclusions, escalation path, and service credits?
  • Who owns incident command, customer notification, evidence preservation, and regulatory escalation during a security event?
  • Which tools, licenses, and cloud charges are included, passed through, marked up, or billed separately?
  • What happens to named staff, service levels, and price if the provider changes the team or delivery location?
  • How are AI tools used in support or engineering? What data is submitted, who reviews outputs, and who owns generated code or other work product?
  • What documentation, knowledge transfer, and stabilization are included in transition pricing?
  • At termination, how quickly will you receive data, code, configurations, credentials, and deletion confirmation—and what does transition assistance cost?

Common outsourcing mistakes—and how to avoid them

  • Choosing by brand: A famous provider may be mismatched to the buyer’s size or scope. Score demonstrated capability and the assigned team.
  • Comparing unlike providers: A development studio, an MSP, a cloud provider, and a global integrator do different work. Shortlist within the required service category.
  • Assuming U.S. headquarters means U.S. delivery: Put location, staffing proportions, access, and substitution rules in writing.
  • Buying a low headline rate: A cheap base price can omit transition, security, tools, after-hours coverage, or emergency work. Compare total cost under common assumptions.
  • Accepting a vague SLA: “24/7 monitoring” is not the same as a staffed response or guaranteed restoration. Define each measure and its clock.
  • Underfunding transition: Lost documentation and incumbent knowledge can create outages and delays. Require discovery, runbooks, knowledge transfer, and stabilization milestones.
  • Leaving security responsibilities ambiguous: Gaps often occur around identity, patching, logging, and incident response. Use a service-specific responsibility matrix and contract terms.
  • Creating vendor lock-in: Proprietary tools and undocumented processes can make exit costly. Require data portability, documentation, configuration ownership, and transition assistance.
  • Measuring automation by ticket volume alone: A bot that closes tickets without resolving issues can make performance look better than it is. Track repeat incidents, reopened tickets, user outcomes, and human escalation quality.

AI in outsourced IT: ask for operational evidence

Providers increasingly market AI-enabled delivery and automation. ISG reported record Americas technology-services demand in the second quarter of 2026 and described increased demand for AI-related services. Its market report measures commercial outsourcing contracts with annual contract value of at least $5 million; it is not a census of every U.S. IT purchase. The report also described a decline in traditional IT outsourcing within the measured managed-services market. Those figures provide market context, not a prediction for an individual buyer.

For any AI claim, ask which production task is automated, what data or models are involved, how outputs are reviewed, what happens when confidence is low, and what measurable outcome has changed. Establish contract terms for prompts, customer data, training, generated code, model access, and human accountability. Automation can reduce some labor while increasing the importance of data governance, security, and escalation controls.

When outsourcing may not be the right answer

Keep more work in-house when a system is central to competitive advantage, its knowledge is difficult to document, sensitive information cannot be shared, control requirements are unusually strict, or demand is stable enough to justify a permanent internal team. Outsourcing can provide access to skills, extended coverage, variable capacity, and specialist processes—but vendor management, transition, knowledge retention, and contract oversight also consume time. Compare the full operating cost and risk with hiring, training, and retaining internal staff.

Outsourcing a project also does not automatically buy ongoing operations. Before a development vendor completes a system, decide who will monitor it, handle incidents, patch dependencies, maintain documentation, and support users after launch.

Bottom line

Choose the provider category before choosing the brand. Define the service, required outcomes, delivery locations, coverage, and risk boundaries; then compare providers using the same scope, evidence, and three-year cost assumptions. A global integrator, engineering firm, specialist, or regional MSP can each be the right choice—but only for the job it is equipped and contracted to do.
