Short answer: there is no confirmed evidence in the available status reports of a widespread Ubisoft Connect outage. However, that evidence is not a live check for 15 September 2026, so it cannot prove that Ubisoft Connect is working normally right now. A login failure may instead affect one game, Ubisoft’s authentication service, your platform, your ISP, or the Ubisoft Connect client on your device.
Check Ubisoft’s relevant service-status page, Downdetector, and your platform’s status page before reinstalling anything. The right fix depends on which part of the connection has failed.
How to check whether Ubisoft Connect is down
Use several signals rather than relying on a single status page:
- Check Ubisoft’s official support and game-status pages. Ubisoft publishes status pages for individual games, including For Honor, Rainbow Six Siege, and Roller Champions.
- Check Downdetector. The Ubisoft/Uplay status page and its outage map show user reports for login, downloads, purchases, gameplay, launches, and server connections. This is a crowd-sourced indicator, not an official Ubisoft diagnosis.
- Check the platform you use. A game launched through Steam or Epic may depend on both that storefront and Ubisoft Connect. Console players may also need PlayStation Network or Xbox Network to be working.
- Compare symptoms. A problem affecting several games, devices, networks, and platforms is more consistent with a broad service incident than one affecting only one title or one home connection.
Status note — 15 September 2026: the available evidence for this article does not contain a live status check for today. Earlier indexed Downdetector results did not show a confirmed widespread problem, but those results are too old to establish the current status.

Ubisoft Connect is not the same as a game server
“Ubisoft Connect is offline” can describe several different failures:

A game-specific status page cannot prove that Ubisoft account authentication, the PC launcher, Ubisoft Store, Ubisoft+, or every other game is operating normally.

What to do when Ubisoft Connect says “offline”
- Record the exact message and time. Note whether you see “Ubisoft services are currently unavailable,” “Client offline,” an activation error, or a code such as
dolphin-028. The code indicates a login or connectivity problem; it does not by itself prove a global outage. - Close and reopen the launchers. Exit Ubisoft Connect completely, including its system-tray application, then open it again. If the game came from Steam or Epic, restart that launcher too.
- Check for a partial outage. Look at Ubisoft’s relevant game-status page, Downdetector, and the status page for Steam, Epic, PlayStation Network, or Xbox Network. If reports are rising across multiple games and regions, stop repeatedly changing local settings and wait for service information.
- Test another connection. Try a phone hotspot or another trusted network. If Ubisoft Connect works there, the likely problem is your home router, ISP route, DNS, firewall, proxy, or VPN rather than a global Ubisoft outage.
- Temporarily remove connection blockers. As a diagnostic test, disable a VPN, proxy, traffic accelerator, or unusually restrictive firewall rule. Re-enable security software after testing. A user report linking
dolphin-028with connection-environment and VPN troubleshooting is anecdotal and does not establish that VPNs cause the error. See the reported example. - Check the device clock. Make sure the date, time, time zone, and automatic time synchronization are correct. A badly skewed clock can interfere with secure authentication and certificate validation.
- Update and repair. Install pending Ubisoft Connect, game, platform, and operating-system updates. If the game was purchased through Steam, Epic, or another storefront, use that platform’s built-in verify or repair function.
- Try offline mode only when appropriate. If the game has previously authenticated on that device and supports offline operation, the client may allow it to launch without a current connection. This will not restore multiplayer, cloud synchronization, online rewards, subscription validation, or other server-dependent features.
- Contact Ubisoft Support. Use Ubisoft’s official contact page if the issue survives multiple networks, the service appears normal but authentication repeatedly fails, your account is locked or suspended, a purchase is missing, Ubisoft+ entitlement is not recognized, or cloud saves are unavailable.
Reinstalling Ubisoft Connect should be a later step, not the first response. It will not fix a confirmed Ubisoft-side outage and may add another setup or authentication step.

There is no universal yes-or-no answer. Ubisoft’s Terms of Use say that some content may require an internet connection, a Ubisoft account, and Ubisoft Connect to install, launch, access, or unlock it. They also state that some games or features may require a permanent online connection.

In practice:
- Some single-player games can work offline after the account and game have been authenticated on that device.
- A first launch, ownership check, DRM check, or activation may require an internet connection.
- Multiplayer, matchmaking, live events, cloud saves, online progression, rewards, and social features normally require the relevant online services.
- A game bought through Steam or Epic may still require both the storefront and Ubisoft Connect.
- Console behavior varies by game, edition, account, and platform connection.
- Ubisoft+ is different from owning a game outright. Ubisoft’s Ubisoft+ terms require a persistent internet connection for both online and offline play, because subscription entitlement validation remains necessary.
Offline mode is therefore a limited fallback, not a way to bypass an outage. If you play while disconnected and later reconnect, read any cloud-save conflict prompt carefully. Choosing the wrong version can overwrite newer local or cloud progress.
Common Ubisoft Connect errors
“Ubisoft services are currently unavailable”
This may indicate a Ubisoft-side incident, but it can also result from a blocked connection, an authentication problem, a platform handoff failure, or a temporary regional issue. Compare several devices and networks before treating it as a global outage.

“Client offline”
The desktop client may be unable to reach its authentication or account services even when the Ubisoft website loads. Restart the client, test another network, and check VPN, proxy, firewall, and system-clock settings.

This code should be treated as evidence of a connection or login failure, not proof that Ubisoft’s servers are down. Check official status signals and test a different connection before deciding whether the problem is local.

Activation or ownership verification errors
These can involve Ubisoft authentication, the storefront account, an account-linking problem, Ubisoft+ entitlement validation, or a temporary service failure. Avoid repeatedly entering credentials if the account may be locked or protected by two-factor authentication; contact Ubisoft Support when the error persists.

- Only one device fails: suspect the client, firewall, antivirus, local files, or device settings.
- Only one game fails: check that game’s servers, installation, updates, and entitlement rather than assuming Ubisoft Connect is down.
- A hotspot works but home broadband does not: investigate the router, ISP route, DNS, VPN, or firewall.
- Other online services also fail: the issue is more likely your network or platform.
- The browser account works but the client does not: focus on the desktop client, its connection path, or the launcher-to-game handoff.
- Console players fail while PC players work: check PlayStation Network or Xbox Network and the console version of the game.
- Only purchases, downloads, cloud saves, or matchmaking fail: this may be a partial Ubisoft or game-specific outage rather than a complete Ubisoft Connect failure.
When to wait instead of troubleshooting further
Stop escalating local fixes when multiple independent signals point to a broad outage: users across regions report the same login or launch failure, several games are affected, official notices mention maintenance or an incident, and the problem reproduces across networks or platforms. Reinstalling the launcher, buying a VPN, or using registry-cleaning and “game booster” utilities cannot repair a server-side outage.
Conversely, if Ubisoft’s status information is normal but the problem continues across multiple networks, contact Ubisoft Support with your platform, game, region, exact error, account symptoms, and the time the problem began.
Bottom line
Ubisoft Connect should not be declared globally offline from a single error message or an isolated Downdetector report. As of the date of this article, the available evidence does not confirm a widespread outage, but it is not a live check for 15 September 2026. Check Ubisoft, the affected game, your storefront or console network, and your own connection in that order. If the failure affects multiple games, devices, and networks, wait for Ubisoft to resolve it; if it is limited to one setup, use the escalating troubleshooting steps above.
