Yes. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 remains available through eligible Xbox Game Pass access as of August 18, 2026. Game Pass Ultimate is the clearest choice for Xbox console and cloud players, while PC Game Pass includes the Windows version. The entitlement lasts only while your subscription is active and the game remains in the catalog.
Availability can vary by region, platform, plan and time. Check the current Xbox Game Pass listing before subscribing.

For an Xbox console, Ultimate is the documented all-in-one option. For Windows PC, PC Game Pass is sufficient. If you subscribe to Essential or Premium, owning Black Ops 6 separately is required for cloud streaming according to the current Xbox Store listing.
Microsoft’s April 21, 2026 update says existing Call of Duty titles already in the library remain available, although that is not a permanent guarantee and does not mean future Call of Duty releases will launch in Game Pass.

What does the Game Pass version include?
Game Pass provides the standard Black Ops 6 game, not merely a multiplayer trial. It includes:
- The cinematic campaign
- Competitive multiplayer
- Round-based Zombies
- Updates and content available to the included base version
The Vault Edition extras—such as premium cosmetic bundles and seasonal benefits—are separate. A Game Pass subscriber can buy a Vault Edition upgrade where offered, but the upgrade is not ownership of the base game and its price varies.
Black Ops 6 launched on October 25, 2024. Xbox and Activision list versions for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Store PC, Steam and Battle.net. See the Activision editions guide for platform details.
Xbox One, Series X|S and PC support
Black Ops 6 is playable on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Series X|S version is optimized for newer hardware, including HDR and up to 120 frames per second where the console, display and settings support it.
On Windows, PC Game Pass installs the Microsoft Store/Xbox app version. It does not unlock the Steam or Battle.net edition. Those storefronts use separate purchase entitlements, even when your Activision account carries supported progression between platforms.

PC Game Pass currently requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or later, while Black Ops 6 may impose additional hardware and graphics requirements. Call of Duty HQ and its campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, language and texture packs can also change the final download size, so check the installation screen rather than relying on a fixed storage figure.
Can you play Black Ops 6 with Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Yes. The Xbox Store currently identifies Black Ops 6 as cloud-playable with Game Pass Ultimate. If you use Essential or Premium, the listing says you must purchase the game before streaming it.

How to install or start Black Ops 6
Xbox console
- Sign in with the Microsoft account holding the eligible subscription.
- Open the Microsoft Store or Game Pass library and search for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
- Select the Game Pass listing, not the separately priced Cross-Gen Bundle.
- Install Call of Duty HQ and the Black Ops 6 content packs.
- Launch the game and sign in to, or create, an Activision account.
- Use the in-game manage-content screen to add Campaign, Multiplayer or Zombies packs if needed.
Console online multiplayer requires a plan that includes online console multiplayer. Free-to-play Warzone is treated separately.
Windows PC
- Install the Xbox app for Windows and sign in with the subscribed Microsoft account.
- Search for Black Ops 6 and install the Microsoft Store/Xbox app version.
- Do not launch Steam or Battle.net expecting the Game Pass license to transfer.
- Sign in to Activision, then select the modes and optional texture or language packs you need.
Cloud
- Use an Ultimate subscription and open Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported device.
- Sign in with the subscribed Microsoft account.
- Search for Black Ops 6, pair a controller if required, and select Play rather than Install.
Why does the game show “Buy” instead of “Install”?
Check these common causes:
- You are signed into the wrong Microsoft/Xbox account.
- Your subscription expired or is not an eligible plan.
- On PC, you are using Steam or Battle.net instead of the Xbox app.
- You selected a premium edition or add-on rather than the base game.
- The console profile launching the game does not have access to the subscription.
- A regional catalog or licensing difference applies.
Verify the subscription in Microsoft account services, confirm the account shown in the Xbox app, search specifically for the base Game Pass listing, then restart the app or console. If only Warzone appears, install the Black Ops 6 packs through Manage Game or the in-game content manager. A Call of Duty HQ installation alone does not necessarily install Campaign or Zombies.

Activision account enforcement can also matter: Activision says some accounts permanently banned from earlier Call of Duty titles may not be eligible to play Black Ops 6.

Game Pass versus buying Black Ops 6
US prices observed in August 2026 were $22.99 per month for Ultimate and $13.99 for PC Game Pass. The Xbox Store showed a $69.99 standard price for the Cross-Gen Bundle and a temporary $27.99 sale price when checked. Prices, taxes and promotions are region- and time-sensitive; treat those figures as signals, not guarantees.
- Choose Ultimate if you play on Xbox, need online console multiplayer, want cloud access or also use the wider catalog.
- Choose PC Game Pass if you play on Windows and are happy with the Microsoft Store version.
- Buy the game if you expect to play for many months, want permanent access, prefer Steam or Battle.net, or find a substantial sale.
- Compare separately if you want Vault Edition cosmetics and seasonal extras.
One month of PC Game Pass is cheaper than the normal purchase price for a short trial or playthrough. Several months of Ultimate can exceed a discounted purchase, so the better value depends on how long you will play and whether you use the other subscription benefits.
What changed in 2026?
Older articles often refer to “Game Pass Console” or say every Game Pass tier includes Black Ops 6. Those descriptions reflect the 2024 launch structure and are misleading under the current plans. Microsoft’s April 2026 policy says future Call of Duty games will not launch into Game Pass, while existing titles such as Black Ops 6 remain available under the current policy. Xbox has not published a guaranteed removal date for Black Ops 6.
Also remember that cross-progression is not cross-entitlement: linking an Activision account can preserve supported progress, but a Microsoft Store subscription does not unlock a Steam or Battle.net copy.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Use Game Pass Ultimate for Xbox console or cloud play, and PC Game Pass for the Windows Xbox app version. Buy Black Ops 6 if you want permanent access, Steam/Battle.net support or long-term value from a sale. In every case, Game Pass access is conditional on an active subscription and the game remaining in your regional catalog.
