Yes, there is a 2017 user report that the Rockit 88 delidding tool was compatible with the Intel Core i7-7700K. That is an individual owner’s experience, not a current manufacturer guarantee. Confirm the exact tool revision and its instructions before use. Intel does not recommend delidding and says it voids the processor’s warranty.
What is known about 7700K delid tool compatibility?
The clearest 7700K-specific report is a reply posted to AnandTech Forums on January 8, 2017. In a thread about the i7-7700K, participant AoS_Nexus wrote, “Done, the Rockit88 Tool is fully compatible.” This supports compatibility for the tool used by that person at that time; it does not certify every Rockit 88 revision or establish current manufacturer support.
Historical coverage from Tom’s Hardware’s i7-7700K delidding article discusses the Delid Die Mate as an example of a tool for Kaby Lake CPUs. It provides context for the tool category, but does not establish that every tool revision or current listing under that name fits the 7700K.
Does LGA1151 mean an LGA1155 delid tool will fit?
No such conclusion follows from the socket label alone. Intel identifies the Core i7-7700K as a seventh-generation Core i7 desktop processor and lists the i7-77xx family under LGA1151. That describes the processor’s socket context; it is not a tool-fit certification. Delidding-tool compatibility depends on the tool’s physical design and stated CPU support, so check the exact model and revision rather than relying on a socket number or a question in an enthusiast discussion.

What to verify before buying or using a tool
- Exact model and revision: Look for explicit support for the Core i7-7700K or its Kaby Lake generation in the instructions for the specific tool revision.
- Procedure supported: Confirm whether the tool is intended for delidding, relidding, or both, and follow the manufacturer’s directions for that operation.
- Used-tool condition: Check that all required parts are present and undamaged; a user report about another tool does not confirm the condition or fit of a used unit.
- Current seller terms: Check the seller’s return policy and any current compatibility statement, since the cited owner report is from 2017 and does not establish present-day stock, revisions, or support.
Warranty and risk
Intel’s guidance is direct: “No, removing the IHS (known as delidding) is not recommended, and it will void the warranty.” Read Intel’s guidance on removing and replacing an integrated heat spreader before deciding whether to proceed. A tool compatibility report does not make the procedure recommended or remove the risk of damaging the processor.
