Apple never created, released, or announced an Apple-designed edition of Windows 10. The idea came from Kamer Kaan Avdan’s unofficial 2019 concept video, which imagined Windows retaining its software compatibility while adopting macOS-style navigation and Apple ecosystem services. It was a design thought experiment—not a beta, leaked build, collaboration, or downloadable operating system.
What the concept actually imagined
Avdan’s proposal was not macOS installed on a Dell, Lenovo, or custom PC. It pictured Windows 10 as if Apple had redesigned its interface, system applications, and device integrations while preserving the basic Windows premise: broad hardware support and compatibility with Windows software.
The concept was covered on December 28–29, 2019, during the Windows 10 and macOS design era of that time. Contemporary reports identify Avdan, a concept designer and YouTube creator, as its author. The video is available at YouTube. Coverage from The FPS Review, Techworm, and BetaNews describes it as an imagined Apple-designed Windows 10, not an official product.
What the Apple-designed desktop would look like
The visual redesign combines recognizable Apple conventions with Windows assumptions:

- A redesigned Action Center with controls arranged more like Apple’s Control Center.
- A cleaner search experience intended to reduce the prominence of Bing and Edge.
These ideas were not entirely foreign to Windows. Windows 10’s Fluent Design System already pursued motion, depth, translucency, blur, and scaling. As Macworld’s comparison explains, the concept is better understood as a fusion of two design languages than as a simple replacement of an unattractive Windows interface with macOS.
How navigation would change

Calling this “Windows turned into macOS” is too broad. The imagined system keeps Windows’ application and desktop foundation but changes where commands, files, search, and system controls live.
The Apple ecosystem features shown in the concept
The most attention-grabbing ideas were services normally associated with Apple devices:
- iCloud in File Explorer: Apple’s cloud storage would appear as a first-class location beside local files.
- AirDrop: Users could exchange files with nearby Apple hardware from the Windows desktop.
- iMessage for Windows: Messages would be available without switching to an Apple computer.
- Safari: Apple’s browser would replace Microsoft Edge as the default experience.
- iPhone unlocking: An iPhone could authenticate the PC.
- Dynamic wallpapers and dark mode: Personalization would follow Apple-style visual conventions.
BetaNews and Techworm identify these features in their contemporary descriptions, but none represents an Apple commitment. The video shows what Avdan imagined Apple might integrate; it does not demonstrate working software or a supported service.

Why the hybrid feels convincing
Avdan’s concept works because it recombines familiar patterns rather than inventing a wholly new operating system. Apple contributes the top menu bar, Dock, restrained visual hierarchy, continuity between devices, and tightly integrated cloud services. Windows contributes its broad hardware target and enormous legacy application base.
Apple’s own interface guidance treats windows as structured system objects with predictable behavior and a clear relationship between content and window controls. That design philosophy helps explain why a consistent menu bar, spacing system, typography, and window treatment can make the imagined desktop feel cohesive even though the underlying concept is unofficial. What Apple could improve in a real version
Applying Apple’s design discipline to Windows could plausibly address several long-standing usability concerns. These are design inferences, not documented Apple plans.
- A consistent visual language across modern apps, Win32 software, legacy dialogs, and vendor utilities.
- Fewer duplicated settings panels and a clearer path from a system command to its relevant preference.
- More coherent search spanning applications, files, settings, and online results.
- Predictable notification and quick-setting behavior.
- Better continuity among a PC, phone, tablet, and cloud account.
- More deliberate typography, spacing, animation, iconography, and interaction feedback.
A skin alone would not solve Windows’ architectural mixture of old and new frameworks. A convincing implementation would require coordinated redesign of system components while preserving application compatibility.

What Apple might make worse
The same integration that makes the concept attractive could reduce Windows’ traditional advantages:
- Hardware choice: Apple-like behavior is easier to guarantee on a narrow hardware range than across thousands of PCs.
- Customization: Apple-controlled defaults could limit system-level changes, alternate applications, or deep UI modification.
- Account dependence: iCloud, iMessage, AirDrop, and iPhone authentication would be most useful to people already invested in Apple hardware and an Apple ID.
- Third-party openness: A more controlled software-distribution and service model could conflict with Windows’ flexibility.
- Repair and upgrades: Tighter hardware requirements could reduce the freedom to replace components or select unusual configurations.
- Compatibility priorities: Gaming drivers, anti-cheat systems, enterprise management, and specialized peripherals would still need Windows-level support.
The practical questions a real product would face
Compatibility
Preserving Windows applications would be essential. A redesign that broke Win32 software, enterprise tools, games, or device drivers would remove much of the reason to choose Windows in the first place.
Hardware breadth and performance
Transparency, animation, and dynamic wallpaper would need efficient fallback modes for inexpensive or older PCs. Multiple monitors would also require a clear rule for which display owns the active application’s global menu.
Keyboard, accessibility, and localization
Long-time Windows users rely on familiar shortcuts, taskbar behavior, high-contrast settings, screen readers, keyboard navigation, and localized controls. A global menu bar and redesigned system panels would have to preserve those capabilities rather than merely look cleaner.

Gaming and enterprise
Interface polish does not solve graphics API support, anti-cheat compatibility, game distribution, corporate identity, device management, or Microsoft productivity integrations. Those requirements would shape the platform as much as its appearance.
Non-Apple devices
AirDrop, iMessage, and iPhone unlocking have limited value for Android users or households without Apple hardware. An Apple-designed Windows would therefore be less neutral than the platform it replaced.

Technically, Apple could design a Windows-like interface and build services for compatible hardware. Commercially, the idea conflicts with Apple’s usual model. Apple differentiates the Mac through integrated hardware and software; a widely licensed Apple-designed Windows could make third-party PCs more attractive while weakening the reason to buy a Mac.
Windows succeeds partly because Microsoft licenses it across Dell, Lenovo, HP, gaming systems, and custom builds. Apple’s control over hardware, operating system, services, and distribution is almost the opposite strategy. Any real partnership would therefore have to resolve licensing, support, security, service availability, repair, and compatibility questions that a concept video does not need to answer.

Later coverage of Windows 11 noted similarities such as centered taskbars, rounded corners, and widgets, but resemblance is not evidence that Avdan’s video influenced Microsoft. Macworld’s later comparison also highlights Windows strengths such as snapping and multitasking—features an ideal hybrid would preserve rather than copy Apple wholesale.
Verdict: a strong thought experiment, not a missing Windows edition
“Imagining a Windows 10 Version Created by Apple” is valuable because it separates appearance from platform design. Avdan’s 2019 video shows how a global menu bar, Apple-style continuity, iCloud, AirDrop, iMessage, Safari, and iPhone authentication might sit on top of Windows’ compatibility model. It does not show an installable operating system or reveal an Apple plan.
The most convincing hypothetical would combine Apple’s consistency and cross-device integration with Windows’ hardware range, legacy software, gaming support, window management, and user choice. Making Windows look like macOS would be straightforward compared with making those competing priorities work together.
