How to Use Apple Music’s Lyrics Translation, Pronunciation, and Replay Insights in iOS 26 (US)

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Apple does not call the feature “Personalized Audio Insights.” In iOS 26, that wording most closely refers to Enhanced Replay Insights—expanded Apple Music Replay statistics. The other major update is Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation, which can translate or transliterate lyrics for selected songs.

You need an iPhone running iOS 26 or later, the Music app, an Apple Music subscription for catalog streaming, and usually an internet connection. Availability varies by song, language, region, account, and lyric metadata.

What changed in Apple Music on iOS 26?

Apple’s iOS 26 feature summary lists Lyrics Translation, Lyrics Pronunciation, AutoMix, Music Pins, and Enhanced Replay Insights among the Apple Music updates. See Apple’s feature summary at Apple’s iOS 26 feature PDF.

  • Lyrics Translation shows an available translation of selected lyrics.
  • Lyrics Pronunciation displays phonetic or transliterated text to help you sing in another language.
  • Enhanced Replay Insights expands access to personal listening statistics. Replay is about what you played—not an analysis of your headphones, hearing, or audio quality.
  • AutoMix creates DJ-style transitions using beat matching and time stretching.
  • Music Pins puts favorite music at the top of your library.

Replay itself predates iOS 26; the change is its enhanced presentation and access to more listening insights.

Before you start

  • Update the iPhone to iOS 26 or later.
  • Sign in with the Apple Account associated with your Apple Music subscription.
  • Use a song from the Apple Music catalog with lyrics available. Imported, locally synced, and some purchased tracks may not expose the same controls.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi or cellular data. Streaming can retrieve current lyric metadata; downloaded copies may need to be refreshed.
  • Set the languages you prefer on the iPhone. Apple says translations use the device’s preferred languages.

Apple’s iPhone Music guide describes catalog streaming, downloads, lyrics, and personalized Music features for Apple Music subscribers.

How to view synchronized lyrics

  1. Open Music and play a song from the Apple Music catalog.
  2. Tap the currently playing song in the MiniPlayer at the bottom of the screen to open Now Playing.
  3. Tap the Lyrics button.
  4. Scroll as the time-synced words follow the song. If synchronization is unavailable, Apple may show the lyrics as a static block of text.

Apple documents this path, along with lyric availability limits, in its lyrics support article.

How to translate lyrics

  1. Open the song’s lyrics using the steps above.
  2. Tap the Translation and Pronunciation button.
  3. Tap Show Translation.
  4. Use Hide Original, when offered, to display only the translated text.
  5. Tap Hide Translation to return to the standard lyrics view.

This is not an on-demand translator for every song. Apple provides translation only for selected songs and supported language pairings. Apple’s lyric-delivery guidance explains that translations and pronunciation data depend on eligible lyrics and rights: Apple Music for Artists and Apple Music provider documentation.

Apple’s examples include Cantonese to Jyutping, Chinese to Pinyin, Hindi to Romanized Hindi, Japanese to Romanized Japanese, Korean to Katakana or Romanized Korean, and Punjabi to Romanized Punjabi. The feature-availability table is version- and region-sensitive: check Apple’s current US listing.

Supported language pairings in the US

Apple’s current availability table lists these pairings for Apple Music translation and pronunciation. The table can change during the iOS 26 lifecycle, and a pairing still applies only when a particular song has the required data.

Because rollout and regional support can change, use the US availability page rather than a copied language list: Apple’s announcement.

How to find personalized Replay insights

  2. Tap Home.

Apple says Replay can include top songs, artists, albums, genres, playlists, stations, play counts, listening time, milestones, monthly breakdowns, and a year-end highlight reel. You can also sign in at replay.music.apple.com with the Apple Account tied to your subscription. Details are in Apple’s Replay support article.

Replay is based on listening history, play counts, and time spent listening. It updates as enough data accumulates, so a very recent play may not appear immediately.

Listening-history settings that affect Replay

To check the setting, open Settings > Apps > Music > Use Listening History. Apple says turning it off prevents Apple Music from using those plays to adjust recommendations and Replay playlist contents, and prevents that listening from appearing to followers. The setting is documented in the iPhone User Guide.

Replay describes your existing behavior. Home recommendations, Stations for You, and Discovery Station are intended to suggest music you may not have played; disabling history can affect both recommendation quality and Replay data.

  1. Confirm the track is streaming from Apple Music rather than a local or imported file.
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  3. Close and reopen Music.
  4. Install any available iOS update.
  5. Remove and re-download the song if its offline copy lacks current metadata.
  6. Try a different song known to have supported lyrics.
  7. Check the iPhone’s preferred language settings.

If only one song is affected, catalog rights or metadata are more likely than an iPhone fault. Apple cannot guarantee translation or pronunciation for every language, release, or track.

Do you need an Apple Music subscription?

The documented catalog experience—streaming or downloading Apple Music songs, catalog lyrics, and personalized Music features—is designed for subscribers. Someone who plays only imported or locally purchased files may receive limited value because those tracks may not carry Apple’s lyric and Replay metadata. No newer iPhone, AirPods, or external DAC is required for Lyrics Translation, Pronunciation, AutoMix, or Replay.
